Rand, Mat, Perrin together at last

While there has been discussion of the three becoming one, the three tav'aran tend to be buried by theories of callandor, or the three ladies. What I wonder is what effect their(the three boys) being together will actually be. I think the effect of being together will not just (!) bend the pattern their way.

First, Rand is one with the land, he must effect all things, and all planes of existance, including the world of dreams.

Perrin, has his strength in the world of dreams, he would be an anchor there and a defence.

Mat, in an opposite has found his strength (finally fully realised) in the 'real' plane. his luck effects the world about him (i liked how perrin came out of the world of dreams

Hmm not much so far, but basically i see the effect of the three together being a weakening of the barriers between the 'real' world and the world of dreams. This will allow Rand to close the bore through sheer will power, "belief and order give strength. If anything this would allow them to get close to the reality warped bore.

still working on how the sword, the hammar, and the horn will complement this, but it feels right.

Ideas, comments, sarcastic remarks?

Nice. I like the idea of T'A'R being the solution to the problem. Will Perrin be the link between Rand in T'A'R and Mat in the real world? He seems to be equally strong in both. Will Rand die, and appear in T'A'R as one of the Heroes?

As for the sword, the hammer, and the horn: we're going to have a real physical battle - in fact it's already started, at Caemlyn. The hammer and the horn will be needed there. So will Rand, before he goes off to SG to confront the DO.

There are two swords we have to consider: Callandor and Justice. Others have said, and I agree, that Justice is the key to the Seanchan problem. Rand will probably use Callandor in the sealing somehow. He's used it in T'A'R before, in the battle with Ba'alzamon (TDR55).

I've always thought that Tel'Aran'Rhiod is going to be part of the Sealing...if the Dark One is free in one world, he is free in all of them, and vice versa. What connects all these worlds together? Tel'Aran'Rhiod, so the Sealing involving T'A'R makes sense to me. Perrin's Dream skills have been so long in the developing, and with him getting the mastery of them just before the Last Battle, I just can't see him not having a significant role when it comes to T'A'R and Tarmon Gaidon.

well rand could Dream too strongly and have his physical body die, it has been mentioned many times throughout the books (to perrin by hopper).

then I could see him being brought back to life by nyn doing a modified warder bond, that binds rands soul to his body

One problem is that you can't access SG from T'A'R - at least, not directly. But what is that strange place where Rand first encountered Ba'alzamon, which from its unearthly sky, seemed to have been near SG? (EotW14)

Fair point, I didn't know that - must have been one of those many nuggets I skipped over at the time!

Any idea which book/chapter it was mentioned in? I fancy having a dig around :)

And that would certainly be a possibility. I do still think that Perrin's mastery of T'A'R has come so conveniently close to TG that it's probably going to play some sort of role. It would seem a bit odd for it not to, IMO.

I don't see the three of them being together haven't any sort of crazy effect on anything. I mean, the three of them were together for what, twenty years? Then they traveled together for the most part of the first two books. Sure stuff happened, but not anything all that much more spactacular than what would happend with just one of them hanging around changing the pattern.

I don't see Taveren as having a cumulative effect when combined. I see it more as the strongest one among them trumping the others, and their ability to effect the pattern being nullified by the presense of the stronger taveren, so that their presense has no effect on things as long as he (the strongest: Rand) is around.

I think the coming together must be significant, mainly because of Min's fireflies filling or not filling the darkness.

The influence of the ta'veren has become more clearly visible in the last books. Especially through the wheather being good and food (and tea of course, one should never forget the tea) not spoiling. The DO's influence is gone/lessened where they are. Rand is aware of this given his remarks of him staving of the DO in Apples First.

Whatever the way is the DO influences threads, the ta'veren counter it or allow the pattern to counter it.

What the influence will be of them being together therefore depends, I think, first on how the DO influences food/the weather and then second on how the ta'veren counter this. Perhaps we can find a clue in dark-rand's effects or the light visible around him now. I dunno been thinking about it quite a bit but there is so little info...

didnt she recently say that rand by himself was enough to hold back the darkness but not defeat him. and early in the series it was stated the whole party leaving the TR's (egwene, mat, perrin, nyn, moraine, lan, and rand) where needed to hold back the darkness. So it has to be something about them all being together

 I get the Muppet song "Together Again" in my head when reading the title to this post. Fozzy Bear is Perrin, Kermit is Rand and Gonzo is Mat. Who would Miss Piggy be? Egwene?

Sorry for the break in the mood. Back to the serious discussion. Carry on.

I mentioned this in another section but I'll repeat it here.

I would love to see all three of them strolling in together to meet with Tuon.

The Fox, The Wolf King and The Dragon Reborn...how's that for an Omen

Knowing Tuon, she would probably find it a more ominous sign that the ants didn't look at her honey (or some such) that morning ;-)

I am all for the muppet show, but the for me the main question is who the old geezers (statler and waldorf) will be. My vote is for Cadsuane and Sorilea.

Cadsuane: You know what the best thing about these young Aes Sedai is?

Sorilea: No. What?

Cadsuane: You can turn them into servants!!

Sorilea & Cadsuane: whaahahahahaha

(ok I could not be a script writer for the muppet show, sue me)

I don't think it's ever stated anywhere in the books. But Theoryland maintains a Q+A database at

http://www.theoryland.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=372

This deals with a few questions relating to T'A'R. Search for 'blight' at

https://docs.google.com/View?docID=dcjspjqg_84fqbb9w9n&revision=_latest

Blight: you can not enter it from Tel'aran'rhiod because it is apart from NORMAL UNIVERSE and can not be touched. The Blight is not part of the normal universe.

SG, of course, is beyond the Blight, in the Blasted Lands. It seems likely that it, too, is not part of the normal universe. There is, of course, room for doubt!

cool thoughts. rand dying by being in TAR too strongly would fit nicely though i see him being in both worlds at once, or the two becoming one

i'd say Pirrin links rand to TAR while mat binds him to the real world than rand acts as a bridge or joining agent (or what have you) which fits in for me with his role as dragon. One with the earth(read pattern).

the power of the three together, as correcting forces in the pattern of the pattern would mean they are strongest when things are the most wrong, as evidenced by the proportional effect each has ,Pirrin resisting the spoilage in the camp, Mat in Caemalyn, rand, well.

i was a bit thrown by the idea of no TAR access to the blight, but if it's not stated in the book....

take the reaction to mat "the lion on the hill" and times by three for when Tuon meets the three united

This was my first topic so sorry for the awfull lack of detail!
