Talya why do you think i'm scum?

okay so thats everyone; i agree that my lynch would yeild alot of info, i also agree with Alanna that there can't be more than 4 scum in this game; which means theres two left.

i'd perfer a lynch on Ama or Lily; perferrably Ama as my gut is telling me she's scum for some reason. but i'll go which ever way you guys want to. unless more people start talking though, we might as well go ahead and vote me since i have 1 vote on me already. i'm kinda disappointed that more people aren't talking beyond posting their finding results.

AMA for right now

UNVOTE

I am not in the habit of lynching after a reveal unlss there is more information to go on, and in light of Thorum revealing i am happy to changed my vote out to the equally scum pinging MCS

I've been rereading, and I just don't like the tone of this post. It feels like she didn't know about the multiple finders.

Vote Amadine

Lily makes a good point; it didn't even occur to me to go back and read through the Day 1 posts, which will probably yield some of the best info. VOTE AMADINE.

Red you are being way too helpful, for starters and really trying to control the game. You first suggest that we should go for Ama because she will give us the most information and that also you would. Nice to include yourself, but obviously you aren't going to vote for yourself. Now you are saying it's because she is scummy too, after I had said that we wouldn't get much info on her at all. So it made me reluctant to vote for her on your say so, like some here have.

Lily's post is interesting and I will need to read that area again. In the context it was written.

I've reread the area where Ama said that post. Another thing to note is that she also hammered nae, without a chance to say anything. something odd was going on and we all knew that so why not give her some time, but she didn't she got in as soon as she could and got us a Town lynched.

I think Talya is more likely a paranoid cop than a true cop, of course, this is based on her guilty finding of me, which I know I'm not.

Now that we've cleared my viewing of Amadine as useless though, I'm happy to vote her. Vote: Amadine

OK . . . need comments from all players, now. How did you feel about the game? How much did MCS' quote - and peoples' reactions to it - play into your suspicions of people?

I found it was a bit over my head. Interesting setup, though. Mcs' quote itself didn't really affect anything for me. By then, most of us knew there were multiple finders in the game.

Posted

I agree with Lily, the MCS thing didn't really effect me. I got confused as anything and I have to admit I would have expected more scum. It was a good game, but a little too off the ball in some ways, lol

Posted

I think you did exactly the right thing with mod-killing mcs if he quoted your exact phrase that you sent out. Then others can look at their PM's and go "Oh, he must be innocent, he got exactly what I did."

That said, since you told me in gtalk my role, I didn't know the exact quote, so it just seemed to me like a bunch of people working together to figure things out.

Posted

The thing is, this is not the first time I've seen this happen in a game - in a couple of games lately, people have sort of said their win conditions to try and prove they're innocent. They wouldn't say 'My win condition said this' but they would sort of quote a part of it and be like 'Anyone who's town knows what I'm talking about.' And now I feel really stupid, because it didn't even occur to me until this game that that was breaking the rule about quoting mod PMs.

Let me say, I was not happy that people were doing this even though I didn't realize it was breaking a rule; I'm generally against cheap shots like that to try and prove innocence/guilt in mafia - it's like how I don't like people checking to see when others were online to determine who might've sent in the nk, etc. It takes the fun out of the game; you're not really scumhunting when you do things like that.

However, I guess I just felt I should point this out, in MCS's defense - that this is not the first time I've seen this, and probably not the first time he'd seen it either. Like I said, I feel super dumb for not realizing it broke a rule, but then, no one else ever said anything, so obviously a lot of others didn't realize it either.

I don't feel that it really affected me, him saying that. Even though 'town finder' is what I was called too, to me 'town finder' was not so specific a term that it proved anything to me. A finder is usually the town's finder, after all. But, I have been on the other side (i.e., the mafia team) when a townie does something like that, and it sucks, so I think it was fair to modkill him.

I liked the game; I thought it was a cool idea, though I'm not sure I really got the hang of figuring it out like Red did. Mostly I would just look at her recap charts and, aside from figuring out who was what finder, look at it from the POV of if each of those people were mafia, and were therefore faking their findings. I feel like we kind of just got lucky finding scum though, because there honestly wasn't a lot to go on, since a lot of people just posted their findings (And I know I was guilty of this too).

hehehehe glad we lynch Ama instead of me!!

i dunno what to think about this sort of game ... with the finders sanitys being changed and not knowing what our original sanity is. i can get why, as a mod, you don't want to tell people that, but at the same time, when the sanity is changed i think the people should be told what their original sanity was. the only reason the town won was sheer luck and low scum #s tbh. had Thorum & Aemon not pegged scum the first two days i don't think we woulda won tbh.

it was a fun game, a nice break from normal Mafia to be sure lol

as for the MCS thing. i didn't really think putting down the win condition as coping the Role PM. i guess thats because everyone knows what a typical in condition is in a game for the town & scum; and since thats general knowledge even the scum could say "this is my win condition". more of what i always considered was stating the exact wording of your character name, role, and what your role does. like word for word, cut & paste style.

i can see MKing MCS for cut & pasting the win condition; especially given the specs of the game. the only thing i thought should have been changed, was sense you warned everyone that MCS should have been allowed to return to playing; but maybe made a Vanilla instead. especially since you didn't reveal his corners report.

as for the "looking online to see ho submitted the NK" i don't think this is cheating. i've used this once, and only cause i was online from the begginning of a night phase to the end of a night phase and it was between 3 people as to who was scum. we ended up lynching an innocent, but i wwas able (as the finder) to eliminate 2 people as possibly not being scum cause they weren't online at all during night. i've seen others use the "last seen online" function of profiles to do the same thing.

its a cheap shot yes, but is also a tool that can be used; same as metagamming. and just liek mettagamming, it can easily backfire on you. like you don't know when the actions are sent in, or if the mod allows the Mafia to submit a NK target via the QT board. plus, you have to be online durign the entire night and watching all the people in the game for it to give you any results. so while it's a possible tool, it's not 100% or something you can rely on. Mods also knwo about this trick, and will take measures to help deter from it. like waiting a bit longer to make it morning even though all NA's are in.

On mcs - there were at least 3 or 4 people who went "he said 'town finder' . . . he's innocent." In fact, Thorum used just that reasoning in choosing between Aemon and Verbal the other day.

As for the changing sanities . . . Talya didn't know it, but she was a shrink. Anyone she viewed or who viewed her got progressively closer to Sane (random (Talya only)-->naive (almost everyone) --> Paranoid (2 players started Paranoid) --> Insane (1 player) ---> Sane (2 players)

In my opinion, you can't get much more specific than that. "Town" finder. Not finder, but "town" finder. As Kiv said, that was the reason Thorum voted me instead of Aemon - he KNEW Aemon was most likely innocent for that one statement from mcs.

I'm also gonna say that I was pretty damn pissed that once it was obvious that talking about that was bad, people still persisted. And then after Kiv warned the game, it was mentioned again.

Paraphrasing something is one thing, but when you use the exact same words in the exact same order with regards to a role PM, it is the same as using the quote function.

I think that has just confused me even more.....Oh nope reread it, I get it now...sheesh, I'm glad I wasn't you modding this game, I'm not sure I would have been able to work that out all the way through!
