A hint at Perrin's possible past lives?

I'm rereading The Dragon Reborn, and I found a bit I never noticed before. On page 67 in Shadows Sleeping, Perrin is in TAR, and is being taunted by the Forsaken. He finds himself in "a gilded helmet, shaped like a lion's head, sat like it belonged there. Gold leaf covered his ornately hammered breastplate, and gold-work embellished the plate and mail on his arms and legs. Only the axe at his side was plain. A voice - his own - whispered in his mind that he would take it over any other weapon, had carried it a thousand times in a hundred battles."

Are there any other hints at whether Perrin might actually be someone reborn?

Everyone is someone reborn. But this could simply be a nod to the trip with the Portal Stone in TGH.

Mat's memories are of his past lives, that is why he remembers different battles and such,

Mats memories are a gift from the Finns. He asked for the holes in his memory to be filled, but was not specific with what he wanted them filled with, so they used what they had available, which was memories from people who had visited them earlier.

Can Perrin be a reborn of someone?

Any character can be a reborn.

If Perrin is a reborn, the books have not yet told of who.

Like another told, Mat got his memories from the Eelfinn.

Some of the memories could be from Mat's past lives; but not all of them since (like others told) the memories overlap each other.

During the time frame of Fires of Heaven, Gaidal Cain was spun out.  (He is either in some woman's womb or an infant.)

Birgitte was 'ripped out'. (later in Fires of Heaven)

The only other known reborn in the series is Rand (Lews Therin reborn).

There may be a chance that Calian and Shivan are in some woman's womb (maybe Elayne's); or will be soon (possibly Aviendha's).

Other than those, there probably is not other reborn Heroes; otherwise the Horn would not be able to call them.

It seems unlikely that Perrin is a Hero since the Heroes called him Bannerman which I take to be a title than a name.

To me this reads that Perrin is being offered power and glory if he follows Lanfear. I don't really see it as a hint at a past life but more of a "see what I could do for you" kind of thing. There's another passage where Lanfear approaches Mat and she remarks that glory does appeal to him (as opposed to Perrin, who wasn't interested).

Mat's memories are of his past lives, that is why he remembers different battles and such,

Q: Are all of Mat's memories from his past lives?

RJ: No, Mat's "old" memories are not from his past lives at all. The "sickness" he got from the Shadar Logoth dagger resulted in holes in his memory. He found whole stretches of his life that seemed to be missing. When he passed through the "doorframe" ter'angreal in Rhuidean, one of the things he said - not knowing that the rules here were different than in the other ter'angreal he had used - was that he wanted the holes in his memory filled up, meaning that he wanted to recover his own memories. In this place, however, it was not a matter of asking questions and receiving answers, but of striking bargains for what you want. What he received for that particular demand was memories gathered by the people on that side of the ter'angreal, memories from many men, all long dead, from many cultures. And since not everyone passing by has the nerve to journey through a ter'angreal to some other world, the memories he receieved were those of adventurers and soldiers and men of daring.

And that's why he remembers different "battles and such."

I was thinking of a more specific indication. It seems from that paragraph that Perrin is someone significant reborn, but I can't think of any other examples through the whole series.

You must remember the bases for the scene. The Foresaken (I think its either Ishy or Lanfear) ARe trying appeal to what they believe is anyman's wish which is to be a powerful and rich hero. They are trying to rie him into going to the DO. His uniform is provided for him by the Forsaken in this attempt but he realizes that the anything real the only thing with is truly him is the AX which he in fact has probably favored in past lives.

He is Hawkwing reborn. That is why he doens't want Berelain...can you say distant relative incest?

Since we know that in one of the memories he has he views Hawkwing as he is dying (it's one of the three propecies tat te Damene has of TUon marrying)it's highly unlikely that he is re reincarnation of Hawkwing and the fact that the soul of Hawkwing appears with the rest of the Heroes when MAt uses the horn of Valerie clinches it.

That is why he doens't want Berelain...can you say distant relative incest?

Do you forget that Tuon would be a direct decedent of Hawkwing (From Luther), and that Berelain would at least be a collateral descendent (descended from one of Hawkwing;s siblings or cousins not directly from his issue).

Actually, Perrin is not Hawkwing reborn since (like another told) Hawkwing appeared at Falme when the Horn was blown.

If Hawkwing is reborn, he would be an infant right now.

Perrin not wanting Berelain, I take that to be due to personality and/or being more interested in Faile.

No. When Mat was separated from the dagger he had visions and dreams of being a general defending Manetheren from trollocs, or something very similar. This was before the Aelfinn or the Eelfinn. Keep in mind that Mat also was spouting off bits of the old tongue before the Finns as well, and even before he got the dagger. My guess is that this, at least, is a contribution from his past life.

This is explained by Siuan to have been a result of past and present being one for Mat for a moment. He is existing in two times simultaneously. So this one incident would be his own previous life that pops out. But that is the only one, after tht it is only other memories given to him by the finns.
