I would of thought that the cult would be more interested at this stage in recruiting less active and obvious players, lets face it chances are we are probably going to have at least one of those now in every mission, since there is at least 10 roles up for grabs.

Say one person of the 3 is mafia. That's 50-50 that a town power role gets shot tonight without releasing any potentially useful information.

That would make it easier to identify the mafia out of the two that are left, thereby in death being of great benefit to the town.

If you or Verbal is the cult leader, you could presumably think of a standard post that doesn't violate the PR while still seeming normal.  It's still a good idea, but if no one breaks the standard post, it's not indicative of there being no cult recruits.  Plus, we have to make sure people remain active to respond to it.  A standard post won't catch lurkers and inactives.

What Kivam is referring to is very closely related to my idea, but I'm actually taking it a step further.  Again, I'll let you know once I hear back from DPR.  You are correct about it not catching lurkers or inactives, though.  But if we just say we'll lynch people who don't do it, that should provide enough incentive.

Fair point Kivam.  I forgot JVOR was on the mission.  I thought it was one of the other Jets boys.  [glow=blue,2,300]UNVOTE[/glow] No good metagaming though.  Tsk Tsk.

I'm still not sure I like your suggestions(JVOR) but after reading what you said about it on MJ and your reply to me here I'm willing to test your theory.

I'm here, and curious to hear exactly what Verbal's idea is. Dragonsworn would strike me as off, but this behavior is about what I've come to expect from him, and he hasn't actually always been wrong...

And what happens if there's no scum in the mission? Do we just lynch the first three assuming that 1 of them has to be either scum or cult?

I think i originally suggested the reveals, but now that we know power roles are kept for the game, I like the idea less. I may have read incorrectly, but isnt' a mission occuring every day? It doesn't seem like scum or cult would be able to to keep up with the NK/Converts anyway if we choose to spread them out..

Hybrid.  Good point, and I can think of at least one solution - but let's wait until we hear Verbal's idea.

Ok, I got confirmation from Wes that I can suggest my idea....so here it is:

Kivam was really close when he said a "standard post".  We can do that as well.  I was going even further and simpler and having everybody post with a  8) or something.  Different people might have different ideas, but my plan was for us all to figure out some good ways to standardize a post so that it would catch any potential PRs.  If we all post just the same smiley, the PR'ed zombies might not be able to do that.

Or perhaps the post is just a simple standard post like Kivam was thinking.  Example:  "I am not a zombie."  if there is a PR, however subtle, I'd like to think we could come up with something that would identify it.  I like the smiley idea, but I'm open to other suggestions.

We could do this at the onset of every day phase, and those that fail to do it by the EOD are lynched that night via blue lynch.

Thoughts?

Verbal's Ideas:

1.  smiley

2.  standard sentence

3.  some form of using just quotes

I'm trying to think of PRs, and they might be as subtle as only being able to post after a certain player, so we could also variate the order of posts......just more random thoughts here....

Verbal is it possible DPR can adjust to this strat ? In that case should we wait until he actully hands out the role and restrction ? What Im suggesting is we do not do this on day one. > Also its only a 50/50 shot we catch a zombie the Cult leader will still be on the loose since he has no post restrictions. Am I misunderstanding something here ?

How about 2 posts in a row from each player ? They could be the same identical post or 2 different ones.

You are correct that this doesn't impact the Zombie leader.  And you are also correct that DPR could adjust the PR, but I really don't think he will, mostly because I don't feel that's fair.  He most likely has a PR ready for the zombies, and to adjust that when he's advocating us coming up with ideas doesn't seem right to me.  But he's the mod, and it's his call.

2 posts in a row seems good - these are the ideas I'm hoping to put together.  I've shared this with the MJers as well, so hopefully we can figure it out.  If we do, then we can ensure the Zombie leader doesn't get to retain any recruits.  ;)

That's cool. Kind of cheesy but cool..

What if we have a witch doctor? Perhaps there should be some delay between failing the standard post test and the blue kill, since killing off an innocent cult convert actually helps scum..

Good point on the Witch Doctor. If the Zombie is converted back to town, hopefully, (because it is possible he could be scum as well) then there is no need for this strategy IMO. But Verbals suggestion does seem like a very good idea until that time comes when we are sure that a Witch Doctor Exists. Also keep in mind we have people in this game that seem to be in the Euro timezone so that will have to be taken into consideration as well.

No, cheesy is rooting for the Jets...cool is rooting for Chad Pennington and the Dolphins.  See?  I said that with a straight face.  I'm going to go in the corner now and cry.  :'(

Great point about the WD.  In that case, we could do the post thing during the day, allow the WD to convert zombies back during the night.  Then we would notice the PR error and blue lynch the following day if the same player failed the post check.  And there would probably be a new failure due to a recruit that night.

Obviously, this all hinges on us developing a plan that will catch it.  If we don't, then we could potentially be operating with false information.  That's why I'm hoping that people smarter than me come up with a solid way to go about this.

wow, got to page fifteen, but I have to go to work. Figure I should post before I get kicked off.

Will be tough for me to get on much, but I should be able to get on for an hour or so a day. So there won't be much activity from me.

Shall have to re read all this before I decide anything.

Have fun guys

Agreed ..

so mr mod said the pR was going to be subtle.. what types of PR's can we think of

1) Every post must contain something (simply, like a joke or speaking in third perosn)

2) 1 post in a time period must contain something, same as above, but only has to do 1 times a day perhaps?

3) Every Post must not contain something (like saying I?)

4) 1 post in a time person must not contain something (like no use of the "a")

5) # of posts in a time frame (must post 2 times per day, 10 times)

others?

This idea only really stands a chance of catching #1 and inactives are going to muss it up, plus there are certainly many other types of requirements that can't be caught this way. In short, I think we should go for it, but the absence of hits shouldn't make us feel comfortable about not having a growing cult..

I guess the trick now is how to cover as many bases as possible..

The PR might be something along the lines of "every other word" or "every other post".  So here's my suggestion.  We each agree to post at the turning of each phase - and to lynch anyone who doesn't post - three distinct posts.

The first will be a simple Smiley. " 8)"

The second will be the following line:

I am not a Zombie.

repeated 5 times, with proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation

And I suggest that someone else come up with the 3rd post, so that you can all be sure I didn't just craft that to avoid the PR.

Kivam stares down at the beach from the high-rise that the team has been searching all afternoon. It was a beautiful sight, but it left him wondering. Zombies hate the sunlight, and they hate the hot sand even more, which is why Kivam has to question why seven of them were slowly closing in on the Humvee. He calls out to Pale and JVOR.

“I think it’s time to go.”

JVOR calls back, “Hold on…I’ve got something.”

Kiv turns around and looks across the lavish condo. Life used to be good, back in the day, Especially for the guy that lived here.

“Well don’t take too long. We’ve got visitors checking out our ride.”

JVOR snaps his head up and Pale looks around a corner.

“You’re kidding? In the daylight?”

“If I’m lying, I’m dying. Feast your eyes…” He tips of his shotgun toward the window. All three of them look down.

“Damn. That’s not good.”

Kiv turns around. “What did you find?”

JVOR holds up a pair of night vision optics.  “Looks like the dude who lived here was interested in moving around in the dark.”

Kivam takes the offered headset. “Good find. Now we can move around in the dark as well.”

From now on, during the night, if a majority votes [glow=black,2,300]Night Mission[/glow], I will accept three volunteers and you may run a mission.

However, night missions are dangerous, and you’re exposure to zombies means that the cult will get to recruit 2 players instead of one.

The three walk down the steps, exiting the pink building and working the pumps on their shotguns. They fan out as they approach the Humvee. There is no need to speak. They’ve done this too many times before, the same as all of you.

The first shot is fired and buckshot tears through the body of the closest zombie. Two more rounds cut the shambling monster in half. Kivam, JVOR, and Pale never break their stride. Many shot are fired then and zombies are cut down right and left as the smell of gunpowder fills the air.

By the time they reach the vehicle, the last zombie is painted across the sidewalk and the three jump into the truck. Kivam turns the ignition and the deep rumble of the engine is a welcome sound. Kiv slips the vehicle into first and pulls forward slowly, intentionally rolling over the skull of the last zombie. A pop followed by a crunch echoes inside the cabin and Pale grins, then Kiv hits the gas and heads back to the tower.

How about posting it in a set order?  It can easily be randomized by the list randomizer on Random.org.  And different people doing the randomizer each time, or something?

Best I can do with low caffeine.

Correct.  But it should clue us in that we need to vary our test.

I'd say lets cover one base thoroughly, and then add to it as necessary
