Has anyone read Watchmen?

It's so good.

Oh good Lord.

I just finished it yesterday, and I wanted to see the movie pretty badly before I had read it, and now I'm chomping at the bit to go see it on Friday.

AHHHHHHH!

I read it last September after Quibby recommended it to me. Its my third love. I fully intend to be at that movie on opening night.

I have heard that it is going to be very good. I haven't read the novel. Do those of you who have think that not reading it will detract from the movie experience.

Wow, that sentence sounded nerdy lol.

I...

I don't know.

Slightly, yes, because you don't get the full experience of some of the twists or irony, but it's also a very complex story and I feel like if you read the novel it'll help you understand what's going on during the movie.  Because many times during reading it, I was having to keep saying, "Wait... What the hell is going on."

I read this a while ago, and yes

it's just amazing

so much more than a comic book about some superheroes, amazingly complex and deep

I wrote a 15 page paper on this for school, focusing on Rorschach, and had a darn blast.

I cannot wait for this movie to get here, after hearing early reviews and talk about how true it stays to the novel.

My only regret is not being able to see it on opening day, as a friend of mine to whom I promised I'd see it with has decided to leave town, the bastard

Go twice then Demi, once on opening night, once with that friend. And I was saddened by the lack of giant squid too.

That's what I was planning <.<

But yeah, the squid. Well, I've heard the ending carries the same message/significance, and the squid's only been replaced by something more accessible to the common populace (nuclear warhead? hurm...)

I was going to see it on IMAX, but my friend was working, so we went and saw it in a regular movie theater instead.

But holy crap.

It was sooooooo good.

It left some stuff from the book, like glossing over the fact of how people figured some stuff out, but I feel like the transition was pulled off really well.

And the action in the movie was just unbelievable. Rorshach was amazing.

"Two, nothing...Your move!"

The best quote from that movie is:

Doctor: "Now show me, what do you see?"

*Rorshach see's dead dogs that he killed with their brains blown out*

Rorshach: "A pretty little butterfly."

That was my favorite quote from the book.

But I think in the movie the best one is, "You people don't understand. I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me."
