Which Aes Sedai is your favorite?

C'mon, I know you all have one. No one joins an online White Tower without harboring secret dreams of being Moiraine or Siuan themselves. So which of the Aes Sedai are you?

I have two favorites, Moiraine and Egwene. Moiraine, because she is the benchmark for all Aes Sedai in the books. You ALWAYS compare the other sisters to Moiraine, consciencly or not when you meet them. Is she as dignified as Moiraine? Is she as powerful? Is she as manipultive? Moiraine is the standard by which all others are judged and found wanting.

 

As for Egwene...Yes, technically she was never actually an Aes Sedai. She sort of skipped that step. However, I have an enormus affinity for short brunette women who get to be Amyrlin at eighteen. I love her strength. I love her dignity, especially after becoming Amyrlin. She knows she was meant to be a puppet and simply won't allow it. I love her bad assery during Knife of Dreams. The scene where all the novices stand for her is one of my favorite moments in the series, right up there with the bit where she forces the Hall to declare war on Elaida. Yes, she is flawed. But that to me just makes her more real, more of a person. Egwene hands down is my favorite.

Siuann is my favorite. The strength that woman has just amazes me.

I totally agree on Egwene-the-Amyrlin, though I had very little use for her up to that point. She bloomed under the stole, in my opinion, and became the character I most look forward to seeing.

 

As far non-main characters go, I have a couple of favorites. Sarene is one, a White who isn't pure logic, though she seems it to non-sisters, and who secretly writes poetry about her Warder. For me, she breaks down the stereotypes about the Whites and humanizes them. I also like Merana, a Gray who keeps doing her best at her job and doesn't go to pieces when the situation changes on her, even if she is in inner turmoil.

Seaine is another of my recent favorites, the White Elaida set to trap Alviarin but who believes her mission is to seek out the Black Ajah. She's another who keeps doing her job even when the mission runs away from her. I also admire the fact that she didn't stand to depose Suian (she wasn't invited to that meeting), but stayed out of her loyalty to the Tower rather than Elaida. Personally I wonder if Egwene wouldn't have done the same if she had been trained in the Tower for a few decades.

She's exactly like me *sniffs*

 

She loves a guy she can't have for a lot of time,but she always hopes he'll be hers in future.And she's completly right,at the end. She have that annoying character,so proud (often too much),sometimes silly,very strong and determinate. She's not able to shut up even in the worst moment for a bad answer ( :roll: the same? who,me?)

People around her can just love or hate her,and the ones who chose the second don't deserve her.

She's able to know when even her best friend needs a hit for his own good,and gives it without a second thought.

Under a rough surface,Nyn really cares about others,have that idea that with power can and have to cure anything.

Oh. And the guy I love is not that old...he's just 9 years older than me :?

Hands down, Verin. Not just because she is the quintessential Brown who knows EVERYTHING while everyone thinks she is completely out of it, but because she has her own agenda, and you don't really know what it is! And she's been working on it for 70 years!

Well, Moiraine, of course. But to be honest I never really had any clear favorites. I was always more of a Aviendha and Faile girl (up until Faile become vair annoying, of course). And up to where I've read in KoD (yes, I never finished KoD. You may all mock me, now :P) then Egwene definitely kicks some serious butt.

I would have to say that I'm the most like Nynaeve--stubborn, strong-willed, independent, fiercely loyal, and caring. My favorites, however, are Egwene and Moiraine. I admire Egwene's leadership abilities and dedication to what she believes in (she too is a lot like me). I admire Moiraine because she has that quiet confidence about her--she knows she's talented and capable, but she's not pompous about it.

But Moiraine is also the very personification of annoying Aes Sedai. If sometimes she would just *talk*. Alright so she knows everything, but maybe if she sometimes *told* people then that would make everything just a teeny tiny bit easier? But then, easy was always very overrated :P Moiraine is like Dumbledore without the quirky: wise and annoying.

I have to echo Karana and say Verin :) She is very aware of what's going around her, but manages to fool everyone with her Brown facade of being out of the loop. And she has a cunning plan we still are guessing about.

 

Cadsuane has some attitude too and she acts her true age a little better than most AS we see. Siuan used to be a big favourite and I'm still fond of her, but her tossing her brain out of the window for Gareth Bryne definately lowered her points in my eyes.

I definitely have to agree with Karana on this one. Verin is my all time fave in the whole series.

 

I have soft spots for Leane and Moiraine as well. Leane is too cool for words. ;)

You're right! She often gets overshadowed by Suian (sp) but Leane is very cool in and of herself.

 

Do you ever wish they could be re-Stilled and re-Healed by a man back to their full potential? I know I do.

hehe yeah, Verin is awsome, I loved it in (was that the first book?) when she is with Siuan and Moraine, and then she just calmly without even stirring or anything says something about Rand being the Dragon Reborn.

 

Leanne is cool too, but I never really liked Moraine, same with Suian.
