ok, so what do you all think about the "beast"?  the following sums up my thoughts:  "Holy crap it's a Minotaur!  What the hell is a Minotaur doing in a Vamp story??  Oh wait, what's this scratching thing?  ACK!  What IS that thing????!!!"

I'm reading the books, so I'm pretty sure I know exactly who/what it is, for spoiler reasons I won't post here...however; it's interesting that the new waitress swimming with Sam at the end of last weeks ep (naked Sam I might add...WOOF!!!) has the same claw marks on her back as what Sookie will have...NOT covered in the books, which means that I'm in the dark on that score.

Did she come with the 'creature' or did she also get attacked by the 'creature' and if so, how the hell did she survive considering what Sookie had to go through to heal?

Were-taur obviosly. Not surviving = become one of them in most cases.

Course, From what I read on wiki Jason was the one who was supposed to be attacked by a 'were' something. ;)

Loved this weeks ep again...especially the whole sucky thing that Lafayette was doing to Eric  ;D  But...wonder what Eric will want for it in return in the long run.

I really like the liberties (books vs the show) that Alan Ball is taking with the story.  I usually wouldn't, but so far so good...I guess I just like Alan Ball's style.

Also...LOL moment of moments...pay per view title "His First Fang Bang"...LMAO.

I liked Lafayettes special dance after getting healed.

Me too.  That was pretty funny.  I also loved how Eric was totally unphased by it.  And that "I need to fly" was literal.

The "one night as mccool's"-esque scene between Jason and the preacher's wife also cracked me up.

I'm starting to feel pretty bad for the drunk cop, though.

OKOK so not to be left out, I bought the entire series of books (to date) last week (and finished them) and then I have now watched all of season one and am current on season 2.

For me, I am one of those people that hate it when television and movies deviate from the books, but I have to say that I am really glad they kept LaFayette around. I'm not a fan of Bill Compton's acting, but I think Eric is HOTTTTT. :D

The funny thing about this series, is that I think overall the acting is sub-par. But it's like a gory accident. You want to look away but you just can't make your eyes do it. In other words: I love it, and am totally into it. :D

Watched my DVR'd ep last night after work.  I don't like the fact that Lafayette seems to have been broken, but maybe Alan Ball will have him bounce back later.

I have to agree with FDM...I LOVE Eric.  And not just cause he's a frickin hottie.  He's a really good actor.  Speaking of hotties...I feel like a total DOM (not dominater/rix...Dirty Old Man) because I thought Godric was hot.  Can't wait to see him when he's not covered in blood and dirt.

I'm also with FDM on the whole deviation from the books thing with some series that I've read, however; I have to say that I really like Alan Ball's vision for the series for the most part.  The creative license he's taken has really been cool to watch.

As far as acting skills go...Eric can act, Jason can act, Maryann (as much as I don't like her) can act, Sam can act, and Jessica can act...she really plays the whole teenage vampire thing quite well (IMHO anyway)...I think for the most part the acting screwups are limited to some of the scenes between Bill and Sookie.  Sometimes they just don't give off the right vibe when they're interacting with each other.  Doesn't bother me enough to turn me off of the series though.  I'm quite happy with it over-all.

Bubba is the main thing missing I want to see pop up in the series (but won't according to Ball).

Just like in the books, Sookie annoys me except when he clothes comes off... so like every other scene.

Last week's episode was weak.  I mean we had a few revelations but the dialogue was mostly horrid.

I am really looking forward to finishing this plotline and moving on to future seasons.

Agreed.

Double Agreed!!!!!!!!  I'm highly intrigued by this character.  And his relationship with Eric.  I've not read the books, so this is all new to me.  This relationship with Godric is a character builder for Eric that I can't wait to get further into.  It's even fodder for a spinoff prequel series!

I agree with this.  Jessica is fast becoming my favorite.  I love her storyline.  I think it is very honest and I'm glad they took her away from being this rebellious little bint and put some layers to her.

I might not watch it for the rest of the season, each episode just leaves you with so many questions, way more than a regular show should.

You guys!  I went to the True Blood panel at ComicCon.  Most of the actors were there, including Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.  They showed a preview of episodes later this season and took questions from the audience.  It looks like some interesting things are going to happen later, so do watch!

Good ep this week, regardless of the differences from the books.  There do seem to be more questions at the end of each ep than you started with though, even if they answer some in the process.  The thing is, if you have read the books, you REALLY have questions because Alan Ball has taken such creative license (again, I stress...in a good way) that you really have NO idea what might happen next.

Still ready for the MaryAnn thing to be over, but really curious now about Eggs and his non-memory / familiarity with the blood soaked clearing.  Only thing I can think of is that during the orgies that MaryAnn throws, once people go black-eyed, they don't remember what they do completely.  Maybe there was an orgy Eggs was part of pre-Tara or something.

Really pissed at Sam's new girlfriend.  Dale kept telling me that she was working for MaryAnn, but I just figured she had been attacked and maybe something about being a shifter kept her from being affected as badly as Sookie, but now we know for sure.

Still loving Jessica.

I agree with you about Eggs.  I bet he was a part of one of her orgies and for some reason he stayed on.  Maybe because he had nowhere to go.  I'm ready for her storyline to end as well and if they kill Sam I'm gonna be upset.

Part of me doesn't like how they broke Lafayette, but part of me loved the dynamic where he just broke down when being pushed.  I think it's going to add a whole new layer to him.

Also I thought/hoped Tara would be too strong for MaryAnn's orgy power.  Obviously she's some sort of primal earth creature that can influence primal traits and commune with the earth.  But I can't stand here character.  I just want to punch her round the head a few times.  Also I liked how in the last episode we found out that the pig was Daffney the whole time.

The new episode was amazing, but I think next weeks is going to be better.

Jason...nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daphney...yessssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Godric...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am LOVING (almost more than life) Jessica and Hoyt...it's the cutest fricking thing ever.  "We could cuddle though...Just don't freak out if I look a little......dead".  I think Alan Ball is gonna move in with a marriage arc between those two.  Remember...the parallels between anti-vampire and anti-gay stuff are laced into the storylines quite well.  Jessica and Hoyt are going to want to get married and won't legally be allowed to, and they're going to have to start fighting for their right to...maybe...we'll see.  LOVE them.

Hating Bill and Lorena.  Still ready for Maryann to take a nose dive off an altar.
