Moraine and Siaun

Why was Moraine so unaffected by Siaun's supposed death? Was it because she knew she faced a good chance of dying? What are your oppinions on them, do you think the will meet in AMOL? If i remember right Moraine still thinks Siaun is dead and Siaun thinks Moraine is dead. Oh and obviously do you think Moraine will even survive to meet Siaun?

Moiraine saw some of the future, enough to know that she herself would survive, so I think she will know Siuan is alive as well. Maybe she saw her in the future?

I reckon Moiraine will be alive at the end of the series.

Moiraine and Siuan knew the risks from the beginning, so both of them would have been at least somewhat prepared for hearing abouth the other ones death.

And Moiraine can not afford to let any grief show on the outside. She is after all quite skilled at showing nothing of what she actually feels. I think we would have seen a different Moiraine if we had had a POV from her when she thought about Siuan.

^ All the things mentioned above. Like any Aes Sedai involved in chasing down the Black Ajah and finding the Dragon Reborn, Moiraine and Siuan would have to be prepared to be stilled (as a punishment by the Tower for concealing their affiliations with and knowledge of the Dragon Reborn) or killed by the Darkfriend Aes Sedai at any moment. After all, Moiraine nearly dies in New Spring, and she takes it quite in stride even then, and she's had years on her back during the current events. I envision that whatever sadness she felt by Siuan's death was supressed by the Aes Sedai habit to hide emotions beneath a mask of serenity, and overwhelmed by her concern for the White Tower. It's also a very real possibility that she viewed Siuan somewhere in her future during her journey to Rhuidean, so she knew she was not dead.

As for their fate, they'll both be alive and well in the end, in my view. A very grumpy Siuan will be married to Gareth bloody Bryne, and Moiraine to Thom, maybe. If Moiraine has been severed, I'm willing to bet Nynaeve will Heal her (since nothing indicates she and Flinn had had much contact and worked out the details of their Healing between them to let her know that a stilled woman must be Healed by a man), thus bringing her and Siuan to equal standing once more. I also think the same will happen to Elaida, even though her future will look a little more bleak than a happy marriage.

Were did you get they were also BA hunters?

Their concern was finding the DR. If the BA got in their way, kill her and move on, but they didn't actively seek them out. The only thing they focused on was Baby Dragon, all else were momentary diversions they didn't focus on.

Nyanaeve and Flinn have spent weeks in each others presence. You don't think they've discussed healing--especially the healing that they each respectivly discovered on their own?

``I think we would have seen a different Moiraine if we had had a POV from her when she thought about Siuan.''

There is a brief POV from Moiraine early on in The Great Hunt, when the Amyrlyn's party comes to Fal Dara. That is where she refers to Siuan as ``my old friend'' and thinks to herself that there are still a few facts that she must keep to herself and cannot share with Siuan. Can't give a cite since I lent someone my copy of The Great Hunt and haven't gotten it back yet.

Well, that is quite a bit different from what Moir<aine might have thought after "learning" Siuan was dead, yes?...

Agreed: I must have misread what you wrote to mean that we had no POV from Moiraine about Siuan (except in New Spring of course), whereas clearly in context you were writing about the report of Siuan's ``execution''. Sorry about that.
