conversation between forsaken in tFoH

"If need be one close to him will die plainly at your order" Rahvin says this to Sammael about Rand. How could they ensure that one close to Rand would die i mean they havnt been very succesful so far at killing off rands inner circle. Is there a darkfriend in that circle who would be willing kill someone close or to die themselves on the orders of a forsaken? If so who could it be. On the other hand they could be talking about mehlindra trying to kill Mat? this seams likely but they had no way of knowing that she would be able to kill mat (and she couldnt)so it made me wonder is there a darkfriend in rands inner circle and if so who could it be? Any ideas?

On a re-read I wondered if Rahvin had meant he would have Asmodean killed. Obviously he cant have killed Asmo but he might have had someone do it for him

Well, if Asmo was the one meant by that quote, he doesn't fit. "[P]lainly at your order". The knife Melindhra used had the bees of Illian on it. Rand doesn't even know Asmo is dead. On an Asmo theory level, it is difficult to see how it can count - there should be subsequent clues, for one, and there are no others linking Asmo's death to Rahvin.

I wasnt suggesting the quote in the forsaken meet-up referred to Asmo - I am aware it was Melindhra/Mat.

Also, if I based every thought I had on what 'everyone else was saying', I'd live a very boring life.

It's quite likely that Asmo and Rahvin are not linked at all but it's something I can happily play with for a while whilst I'm bored  ;D

I was just reading that the other day, and my first thought was, "Aha! They're talking about killing Asmodean!" But Melindhra's attempt on Mat does make more sense.

I have a theory, but it hinges on whether or not Asmodean had any contact, direct or indirect, with Sammael. Before the battle at Cairhien, Mat opened his big mouth in Rand's tent in front of Asmodean. So, Asmodean knows about Mat's knowledge, and probably something about his luck. IF Asmodean could somehow tell Sammael about Mat, then Sammael would have been wise to take out Mat. He had to at least suspect Rand would come after him soon, since Rand had taken Tear, and Mat is a big part of how Rand wins at that point. Getting rid of Mat would weaken Rand. The only other way I could see Sammael finding out about Mat's skill would be from Lanfear through Kadere. Unless there's another Forsaken hanging out with them in disguise...OR Sammael learned about Mat directly from Melindhra...hmm...

But I think Sammael giving Melindhra a dagger that would obviously connect her to him would be sloppy on his part. Unless he had some ulterior motive in revealing himself?
