... back at the White Tower -

If the timeline at http://www.users.bigpond.com/steven_cooper/tl1000.htm#book11 is correct, Egwene got her summons to attend Elaida "tonight" three days before Perrin freed Faile and two days before Rand got his hand blown off.

Unless we are going to miss that meeting/attendance, that should mean that there will be a minimum of 20 days of overlap between Knife of Dreams and A Memory of Light.

Galad and his 7000 Whitecloaks were already very close to Perrin two days before he rescued Faile.

In the five days that Tuon took to get back to Ebou Dar, where did Mat and the Band get to?

Since there isn't any indication of an operation underway or having just completed when Tuon makes her reappearance in Ebou Dar, it seems unlikely that any Seanchan attack has yet been launched against the Tower.  So, something else unusual must happen when Egwene and Elaida get together.

AMoL should have an interesting Prologue and first couple of chapters..

One thing that is often commented on is the ability of the Seanchen to analyze defeats (I'm sure they see them as "opportunities") and adapt.  Having been exposed to it, I think they will develop Travelling (or capture an AS that knows how, collar her, and learn it) in order to attack the WT.

I think the attack will happen after the summons.  I think it's Luckers that said Egwene will most likely be imprisoned after the summons which hopefully we will see and I believe the attack will happen days after.  However, something just occured to me, Egwene has a dream that Gawyn has to rescue her from being executed.  So this will be very interesting.

Thats not accurate, in Perrin's POV at the raken farm he shows that raken and to'raken have already been stripped for the assualt. Beyond which Galgan's comments at the beginning of KoD, some 30 days prior to Tuon's return indicates the immediacy of that assualt, and thats a fact backed up by Karedes POV

Plenty of ways to kill someone that don't involve OP.

Their oaths ( other than not lying ) only cover use of the Power.

Yes, didn't Verin almost poison Cadsuane before she was sure of Cadsuane's intentions toward Rand?

Posted

Yes. She had something up her sleeve/in her hand, and then refrained from putting it into Cadsuane's tea after learning some of her intentions toward Rand. I seem to recall that Vandene also stabbed a Black sister.

So yes, it is completely possible.

On to the actual thread topic... It would (imo) be nice to have it overlap a little for a couple chapters so we can re-familiarise ourselves with what was happening before and find out what the characters did during that perioid.

Life is what happens while you're making other plans.

To the northwest they suddenly got blind-sided by Ituralde's little ruckus.  To the northeast it was Mat and the Band.  They've been a little busy.

"Turan should have stripped Tarabon of every sword and lance!" Suroth snapped.  "If he survives this debacle, I will have his head!"

Galgan quirked a white eyebrow at her.  "I hardly think Tarabon is loyal enough to support that just yet," he said drily.  "Besides he has damane and raken,  I've signed the orders raising Tylee Khirgan to Lieutenant-General and the low Blood, since you've dithered over it, and orders to return most of those raken to Amadicia and Altara.  Chisen still hasn't found whoever created that little mess in the north, and I don't like the notion that whoever it was is lying in wait to spring out as soon as Chisen returns to the Molvaine Gap."

When did Verin stab a black sister?  Moraine did, but she was shielded and couldn't kill the black w/t OP.

Darkfriends aren't protected by the third oath, the AS just has to know the person is a darkfriend.

Verin didn't.  The old one (Vandene?) did to avenge her sister's murder.

Don't forget there are plenty of "sisters" running around not bound to the Oath Rod.

Besides the ones we know for sure (at least the WonderGirls +1), there's others I suspect (like Verin, and maybe Cadsuane too) that have been released from the oaths as part of some

Aes Sedai intelligence organization.

Not really.  We know that Verin and Cadsuanne are bound to some Oath -- not necessarily "The Three Oaths."  We are pretty sure Verin can lie.  Any Oath will create the "ageless" effect of a criminal bound to an Oath Rod.

We are pretty sure Verin can lie.

Actually, we know nothing of the sort. There is only one case where Verin's statements are really deceiving but thats more of Aedes Sadie misleading then an outright lie.

Can you please state what that instance is? That may help to settle this.

Um, no verin is not lying is Aes Sedai avoidance of a lie.  There are NUMEROUS threads on verin's supposed lie.  But by your outright dissmissal of the posters point benr, I doubt you will believe any of those threads.

In the Great Hunt, when Verin catches up with Rand, she says something along the lines of "Moiraine sent me." Later, Moiraine denies having done this this, and we KNOW Moiraine can not lie.

You assume its AS misleading because it serves your argument.  It is outright lying.

you're doing the exact same thing....

verin's true-lie is simple. moiraine had probably stated that she will do "w/e it takes to get the DR to TG," or if not, then 'showed'(true-lying at work) it by preparing to [likely](from verin's perspective) kill verin.

with that in place, all verin has to do is 'realize' that the DR should be accompanied by an AS at all times, and since moiraine and siuan will be otherwise occupied, verin is the only one available to guide rand.  therefore, moiraine sent verin to do what she could not.

in summation, because moiraine will do "w/e it takes to get the DR to TG" and rand will need a AS at his side at all times in order to reach TG, she is sending verin in her place.

therefore, moiraine sent verin.

that turned out alot messier than i expected...but i think its still understandable ;)
