I'm not sure if it is possible to tell if someone is honestly surprised or concerned in a book. But i think that it is likely that Taim is a DF, the way he runs the BT, and his 'secret circle', just reeks of DF'ness. But he could just be a really big jerk.

Yeah. And also because of what he says to Pevara in the end of KoD "Let the Lord of Chaos rule"

Him ordering Asha'man to kill Rand kinda seals the deal.

You can tell by the actions of those who follow the order. In the watchers PoV I believe, he overhears Sammael say something like "small increases in chaos could be as important as large." He said this in relation to how he had scattered the Shaido, it had nothing to do with Rand.

Rand is not the Lord of Chaos. Nobody is.

When did he do that? I've read the books, (and re-reading), but i dont remember anything like that. (of course, i have a bad memory.)

indeed.... who is the Lord of Chaos? If it is rand, they never said exactly. Or it could just be an abstract meaning of, 'cause heaps of chaos.'

The second. Nobody is the Lord of Chaos. It means let Chaos be your lord.

Yay! i got something right! *does victory dance*

seriously i cant decide if Taim is just a df under a chosen or new chosen of this age.he is definitely a power hunger person working for his own interest.i would like to have a pov from him next book.

also, the question remains, how come Taim hasn't gone mad yet? If hes an ordinary DF, (or a jerk) then hes not protected from the Taint, so wheres the insanity? It was mentioned in Rands Pov once that Taim had survived 15 years or more, is he just extremely mentally strong, (he shows no signs of madness or strangeness in the books, lucky, or is his sane, unrotting body the product of a darker nature?

At this point it doesn't matter. Not with the Taint having been cleansed. But, for all we know, he is mad. It doesn't always happen as imagining spiders running all over you and things of that nature. We've never had a PoV from Taim (Crossing fingers) so we really have no idea of the inner workings of his mind or personality or perspective on anything. He could be the nuttiest of them all.

I know it doesn't matter now, but after fifteen years, and some not even lasting two days, there should be some sign of madness or at least rot (apparently they started rotting after awhile.) Plus, we kniw hes not completely mad because if male channelers didn't always go horribly, dangerously insane, the Aes sedai wouldn't gentle them all and the breaking probably wouldn't have happened. Name one case where a male channeler went insane but wasn't a danger to others, and don't say Fenwyn (or something) , who went insane and got the moind of a 4-year-old, caused if 4-year-olds had the One Power, then we'd be in trouble, 'cause if you've been around children for a while you'll know how capricous and nasty they can be; what if he threw a tantrum and instead of stamping the ground and yelling, he threw a fireball or pulled the building down on top of your head, or he lacked the self-discipline to stop drawing on the Power and exploded?

So i'd say that yes; men always go horribly, irreversibly, dangerously insane when they channel.
