Will there be a 13th book

I have a couple theories on why there has to be a 13th book, despite the fact that RJ said there wouldn't. (1) if it was supposed to go in one book, it would be like 3,000 pages long. (2) thirteen is a significant number in the WoT series, and I think it would be cool if there were 13 books. (1) the series needs a sequel after all the books where Rand gets married and has kids and is the king of everything and such. just a thought

Outrigger Novels yes, Main story arc finishes in aMoL

Well, it better, or Mr Sanderson is getting a personal visit with sharp implement, if you catch my drift >.>

No, I don't think there will be a 13:th book in the main WoT series. But I would love to see some other series written - maybe if Mr. Rigney left some notes about what would happen to Mat and Tuon. I think I read somewhere that he had ideas about such a series. Is that what you call "Outrigger Novels"?

If you count the number of WOT books this will be the 13th, counting New Spring. That satisfies the 13 book requirement quite nicely.  Do not expect any other books in the forseable future.

IN the words of BS...

Question: Will you be writing other books in the WHEEL OF TIME world?

I honestly can't say. Everyone is focused on Book Twelve right now. Harriet feels a great urgency to get this novel done, and I can understand why. We have all been waiting to read it for many, many years.

I can say that none of us working on this project feel the same urgency about the other books Mr. Jordan was planning. (Those include the two prequels, the outrigger novels, and a new series called THE INFINITY OF HEAVEN.) This isn't because we think they would have been bad books, but because we're not certain Mr. Jordan would have wanted them written in his absence.

Book Twelve needs to be done. The others don't need to be done. I know that many fans have strong feelings about those unwritten books, and I know that a lot of you want to see them. However, I ask that you please respect Harriet's ability to decide their fate. If she feels that Mr. Jordan wouldn't have wanted them done or if she feels that there aren't enough notes or materials to complete them in a way that would have made him proud, then the books should not be written.

None of us want to simply exploit Mr. Jordan's name or series for quick cash. We'd rather leave his legacy as it stands than have bad books attached to his name. Beyond that, I personally am working on this project more in respect toward Mr. Jordan's name than for any other reason. I got into writing because I wanted to write the stories in my heart, not because I was looking to make large amounts of money.

Working on Book Twelve is an honor that I don't think could have been matched by anything else in my professional career, but I have no intention of turning the Wheel of Time into my career. That isn't to say that I'd turn down other Wheel of Time books if Harriet decided she wanted to do them, but it is to say that you shouldn't expect to see Wheel of Time novels being released frequently or regularly. If we decide to do any of the other projects, it will be years from now, and only after careful thought and deliberation.

In one of his blogs RJ actually mentioned writing another book about Mat and Tuon, and I vaguely remember something about Kari and Tam, though that might not have been by RJ...  But if you search his blogs you should find something about his outrigger novels, which is a reason why I think Rand will live, since what happens to one is supposed to happen to the other two.  If Mat lives, Rand probably won't die ^^

haha

Studio's, like most companies are all about the money, nothing else.  Anything could happen with this series.

To the tell the truth, I hope AMOL finishes everything.

Because:

1) RJ is gone

2) The aspect of WOT that glued me to it is not just the characters-but also the grand and intricate plot. I don't think any subsequent sequels would claim my attention in the same way. Most people want sequels because of the characters. But I don't want to see a sequel with a poor plot merely for the sake of explaining the future of the characters.

I also do not think that I would find the Mat/Tuon sequel all that interesting. It would likely focus almost entirely on Mat and Tuon and likely will have a much weaker plot that the WOT. The PLOT of WOT attracts me. Sequels may just end up like the Harry Potter epilogue, which I found very disappointing.

That epilogue was made for closure, nothing more.

A 13th book? Please god... no...

I love the series and all, I live and breathe it for 12 books but another one? I think that might JUST be enough for me to have had enough.

Yes, but many readers (including me) wished to know more about what happened afterwards. The HP epilogue is next to useless in providing info about what happened afterwards. I won't say any more in case someone here hasnt read the book yet.
