Both Elayne and Egwene needed/need to prove they have what it takes to be Queen/Amyrilin. If Rand does all the hard work for them then no one will respect them and they'd be disposed of as soon Rand turned his attention elsewhere.

Very bad idea. Hundreds of Aes Sedai could die in the struggle and the White Tower would be weaker than ever. That, with TG looming ahead. This idea is more or less what Messana wants. Even if Egwene gains the Tower in this way, no Aes Sedai would respect her and it would take a long time for the Amyrlin and Hall to restore the Tower to its former glory.

Furthermore, Elaida is not BA so the White Tower WILL march for TG anyway, which is what Rand needs. Who the Amyrlin is does not matter to Rand as long as the Amyrlin walks in the Light.

    I think that Rand should give Eladia to the Wise Ones, that would humble her a little. I agree that Egwene needs to earn the tower and what she is doing right now, is helping her cause. First, she is showing that she won't back down. She is what she is. It's making the Aes Sedai (grudgingly) acknowlege her (some admiration there too, but they would never admit it). But she is winning over the young accepted and novices. When they become Aes Sedai Egwene will have a strong following that she earned herself.

he doesnt have to sieze the tower, just play the Game of houses a little bit. All tower aes sedai know, or suspect, Rand was kidnapped on Elaidas orders. Simply send a proclaimation saying he and his asha'man will sink Tar Valon if they dont hand Elaida over.

Things you might miss accidentally, could come to your attention, or something said that you thought went one way actually was going another. Don't knock 'em, till you try 'em.

Maybe Elaida herself isn't involved in the alliance between the Red Ajah and Taim's Asha'man, but I very much doubt that Rand is going to like it when he finds out about it.

 

There may well be bad blood between the two alliances (Rand's Asha'man/Egwene's Aes Sedai vs. Taim's Asha'man/Elaida's Aes Sedai), but I don't think it'll come to a head unless one side is full of Darkfriends.

I have a suspicion that one side is indeed full of Darkfriends.

 

Besided, the Tower will be a hard nut to crack, and that's before you consider that Egwene, Leane, AND Mesaana are inside to complicate things.

 

So I think that if sleight-of-hand plays a big role in AMoL, it will have to do with the re-unification of the Tower, rather than Rand's death and return to life.  (While I acknowlegde the potential for a Rand/Moridin shell game, I think that's too central to the plot to resolve it with some sort of parlor trick.) Eg. will find a sympathizer to enable her to trick her way out of her forkroot prison, travel back to the Rebel camp, perhaps with Leane, and maybe even Elaida.

    As far as Audiobooks go, yes I would be a cheater. Cuff him boys... billoumm7, you still need to try the Audiobooks. If you like them, great! If not, at least you read unlike some members of my family who would "rather wait until the movie came out". ARRRGH!!

if rand attacked the tower thats crippling one of the strongest allies for TG!!!

And would the rebels stand by and let DRAGONSWORN and MEN WHO CAN CHANNEL take the tower!!! NO!!!

Look to elayne for example.. rand didnt take andor for her because then she would look like a puppet for the dragon reborn. Same thing for egwene.

True, its quite clear that Egwene will end up as the true Amyrlin-but that is clear only to the readers....not clear to the characters in WOT.

 

I am really anticipating HOW Egwene gets control. So far, she has made the tower more unfriendly towards Elaida but practically all AS in the tower still see her as a novice.

I stress again: From the reader's point of view it is quite clear that Egwene will become Amyrlin.

 

But from a WOT character's view it most certainly would not appear so. Lelaine is already planning to become Amyrlin herself!

 

So that statement is not very supportive in this discussion since we are trying to see how the characters in WOT would look at this matter. ;)

yeah, but Egwenes war isnt really to take over the Tower and become the new Amyrlin. Sure she thinks she's the best candidate for the position, but for now, I think her war is against Elaida to unite the Tower. Elaida has abolished the Blue Ajah, the Tower would never be whole while Elaida held it.
