Hello everyone.  I'm new here to the forums, even though I've frequented Dragonmount.com since my friend showed me The Eye of the World.

 

I love RJ's books and I'm still deeply affected by his death.  The WoT is one of my favorite series of books, if not the top one.

 

Despite his death, I know that these books will continue to flourish over the years.  I've realized that in every book, I've found some kind of moral to apply to my life.  I can take the personality of the characters and compare them to my own and I realize how much each character is fleshed out to be more Human.  If anything, RJ has demonstrated his skill at making his characters seem real, and often times I've been emotionally affected by their unique situations as the story progresses.  I've felt the distress Perrin felt when Faile was taken.. I've felt the irritation Rand's expressed when dealing with saidin and the forces of the Shadow; I've even felt the dice tumble in my head as Mat does.

 

All of this just goes to show how great of an author RJ truly is.  His books will inspire forever, and the memory of a great man shall live on as he is sheltered in the hand of the Creator.

Welcome to the world of Dragonmount, Venca! You may or may not be surprised to find a vast array of people here who have all been affected by RJ much the same way you just described. It is truly unfortunate that he has passed on, but we all remember him dearly.

 

First off, be sure to join in the fun here! We have various Organizations (community) and Divisions (roleplay) in which you can participate. I personally would like to invite you to take a look at the Band of the Red Hand. We are a fun loving group that like brew, brawls...oh, and a bit of music and travel discussions.

Now, what is there to do at DM? I see Jea has invited you to the Band of the Red Hand ORG. Take her generous invite up, as the Band  is DM's very own music and travel ORG. We focus a lot on music and travel, which we do through either reviews or discussions. But we also give all members the chance to be a Blademaster, a Knight or Lady, and an Assassin, depending on which Regiment you join after you've done your Recruit training (where you learn about the ORG). We also have loads of silly games, lots of posting, brawling, drinking Brew, gambling, beating each other up in the Arena with our dice-based RPG ORG Game, and much much more!

 

But whatever you end up doing, JOIN THE BAND OF THE RED HAND ORG!!  8)
