Lurking no more?

Well, I find myself gravitating to these boards more and more. I've been lurking about more than is polite, I've had the "manah manah" song stuck in my head for a week and love it, and I've become addicted to the games. I think the only right thing to do would be for me to join the Kin!

So um, may I?  ;D

OF COURSE you can  ;D someone will be along to sash you soon I'm sure. Meantime welcome to the Kin  :D *snuggles*

Really? *awws*  ;D

I should tell you though.. the first person to call me SoB.. he started it one night when I took the post he wanted in the challenge. Just a warning, but if you're on your game, I'm sure you can take it from me.  ;)

Welcome to the Kin... I'm glad you decided to come out of lurkage and join up!  :D

Welcome to the KIN!!!! *wraps a blue sashy around your waist and kisses each cheek* I look forward to posting with you... in a few mins you should see the private blue sash forum, and your name added to our member list

If you ever need anything, let me, Twinny, or Loraine *mama* Know... Loraine is the eldest but is a new mommy so we are kinda trying to lighten her load a bit.

Perhaps just post in the Q & A thread and see if it can be fixed up there. :)

I'm glad that you're enjoying yourself here. If you have any questions my PM box is always open as well. How are you finding everything else here at DM?

*clink clink. She taps her blue knitting needles together gently* Jhaenara was kind enough to give these to me. Ironically enough I was doing a little knitting IRL just as she did. I don't think I'm going to manage making my first knitted scarf before winter hits, though.

Not seeing the forums yet, unfortunately. *sips her tea*

Not much really to tell about myself. I'm an art student studying to do video game character animation and most of my time is taken up doing craft and artsy things. But I can never get enough of puzzles and word games, which was the initial attraction to the Kin. And everyone's been so friendly. *grins*

Yeah, after I posted that I thought that she had..  :-\

OOOoo.. video game characters? That sounds fun!! Oh, and by the by.. you have some really great stuffs on you deviant page. Other than Knitting, what other crafty, arty things do you do? I know my Auntie there does a lot.. I do some too, or used to anyway. I love puzzles too.. I do the jumble, crossword and crytoquip (cypher decoding thingy) in the paper almost everyday.

My darling nephew you just keeep on keeping me on my toes..*winks* I knew she had needles...and yes I am miss crafy lady..and have tons of crafy crap i love to play with!  My current projects include making haunted houses from craft sticks and kleenex boxes..sewing dolls and aprons...and crocheting...well a bit limited!  and i am terrible at word games..even though my studies were in english and i love linguistics..kind of an anomoly huh?  Feel free to start a new word game if one comes to you hon!!

Cool animated stuff..?  I am really ignorant of that area..would this be like anime?

*hugs Ursula*  HI!  how are ya?

Haha I will the second I get access.

Well the sort of animation I'm studying isn't so much like anime as it's more like Shrek or the video games you see on TV; someone would create a 3dimensional "puppet" so to speak in a specialized computer program, and my job would be to use the controls to move it. Nearly everything I do now doesn't involve traditional art tools like pencil and paint, but I still draw at a constant rate.

Thank you for the compliments on my deviantArt gallery. I'm somewhat embarrassed because I've been too lazy to scan my much newer works and post them. My favorite drawing style will always be the anime or "shojo" (cute girl) comic book style, but I've also been experimenting with new styles to make the faces look more close to life.

My other crafts, hmmm. Well I've got knitting, as you know, painting, sculpting, I design costumes and armor for these dolls that I collect (not traditional porcelain dolls, more like fashion type dolls) and I'm learning patternmaking. I also adore Halloween because I have a passion for carving pumpkins! In fact today my husband and I have decided to get "fake" pumpkins (made of crafters foam and some other stuff I can't figure out) so that I can do these elaborate designs without fear that it will have to be tossed in a week.

A picture of the dolls I spoke of, unfortunately they're not wearing anything I made lol: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g274/Kuawen/Img_0942r.jpg

And some pumpkins!:

Those were last year's creation, which sadly because it began to rain before Halloween, they didn't hold up and had to be tossed the day before the actual celebration  :'(

I used to LOVE those 3D puzzles, and I had a medieval castle one when I was younger. I adore crossword and wordsearch, in fact I have a handheld video game player (Nintendo DS) with a puzzle game that I'm constantly working at riding the train to school. I tried doing Sudoku, but never quite got the hang of it.

I've got a new jak-o-lantern! My newest victim-I mean pumpkin, was an interesting experiment. As I said before I was using a foam pumpkin, and I tried using a hand held wood burner to cut easily through the foam. It was so scary! The thing started smoking the minute I turned it on, and then the exacto-knife attachment went from a silver color to almost black, I was terrified to touch it!

But I got over my fear, and it turned out to be a good tool. I only managed to do one jak-o-lantern today, but I plan on doing one more tomorrow (we have two windows at the front entryway to our house, and it makes for the perfect display of these creations out to the street)
