They made hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars for their work.

I’m sure the camera, lighting, sound, fx people, makeup and costume designers, etc. will be surprised to learn that they made so much!! I’m sure that will be comforting as they try to find more work.

They will move on to something else just like every other time a series or movie finishes shooting. That’s how the business works.

I’m sure it’s not at all stressful for those people who make, on average, less than $50k. Especially since the film and television business is famously doing so well right now.

Talk about tone deaf.

For many of us who have been here for years.
Dragonmount is a community of Wheel of Time fans... and it stands out when people come out of nowhere, ignoring all the work we've put in on our Forum Rules & Guidelines, and completely bypass the Introduction Forum as a way to introduce themselves to the greater community.

It’s a pretty underhanded non-sequitur to make this about jobs. Not liking a product always has implications for the job security of people that make it.  If Rafe wanted to give his people job security, he should have made a better product.  It’s not the job of the audience to watch a boring show because we feel bad for the poor people working on the product.

And frankly, that was the problem with the show.  I didn’t dislike it.  It was just boring.  And as someone who was actually interested the whole way through the slog, I don’t think it’s a superhuman feat to make something interesting.

No. It most certainly is not.

That is definitely true.

Again, this is 100% true.

But that isn't the point. The point is that celebrating an outcome that costs many people their jobs is ghoulish and gross.

One can be critical of the show and even supportive of the cancellation and still maintain a modicum of class. Metaphorically jumping up and down with delight because the show was cancelled is simply low class.

I don't think that is the driver - celebration.

Many book fans were and are very angry with Rafe Judkins and his team for what they produced with a beloved franchise.

I don't see many celebrating the cancellation as such, maybe you do.

I guess people who are not sad at all that it's been cancelled because they didn't want the story destroyed anymore (in their opinion)  can be galling to people who just wanted the show to continue and like it.

Personally I wanted it to continue but with Judkins and his team removed.

But it is not to be.

The best part of the entire effort were the Origin stories IMO.

They should make the whole story like that - maybe in the future!

I do. It’s not as bad here as it is elsewhere, but there are a few.

And again, there is nothing wrong with not liking the show. There’s nothing inherently wrong with agreeing that the show should be cancelled.

There is a certain cadre of smug, self-satisfied folks that are taking joy in the fact that the show was cancelled and seem to delight in rubbing people’s noses in it. That bothers and irritates me.

That's a reflection of your fandom of the show, more than anything else, IMO. Stop liking what I don't like!  It's just opinions on the internet.
