In order to keep you all informed, I'm going to keep this thread for announcing changes. You can respond and ask questions but try not to derail the point of the thread!

 

1. There is a new PSW Public Archives board. It's fairly self explanatory. You won't find anything from private boards but there are now about 74 pages of archived threads from across the PSW OOC boards. Only RP members can see this board and only RGL's can mod/post to it. This allows you to find threads for reference (and request resurrection if really necessary).

 

2. All 3 of the RP Sections are complete. We hit a brick wall coming up with a new name for the last one so it's going to remain as Freelanders. Each section now has one OOC board for use by all of the RP Groups it covers which should make it a little simpler for everyone to find their way around. Behind the scenes, there is also only one Staff board.

 

3. For members of individual RP Groups it'll become obvious that quite a lot of boards, and subsequently also usergroups, have been deleted. So if anyone finds any problems at all with the boards they can and can't see, do let me know asap. 

 

4. The IC boards have been reduced. Mostly this was just merging all of the area boards into one Mainland board and then reordering the rest. Nothing drastic but I hope it's a little more intuitive now.

I do have one question, and maybe you guys plan on changing it, I'm not sure: What is the difference between the Boards "The Great Hall" and "The Hall of the Tower" inside the White Tower board? I can't really figure it out >_>

 

Also, is it possible, maybe, or desired, to change "Secret Whisper Hole" to be something more obvious for new comers?

The Great Hall is the private sub board for all WT members. The Hall of the Tower is private to internal WT Staff; Sitters, HoA's etc.

Latest updates:

 

1. The IC Mainland DR board now contains all threads. The sub boards for individual places have been removed. I don't think they were necessary and this reduces us to only 4 IC boards total. All active threads are right on the front page/s which is much better.

 

If people want to add the involved Groups as tags to their threads that could be helpful. So for example, a Warder and Sister could just add a tarvalon tag but a Sister and and an Asha'man could add both WT and BT tags.

 

2. Secret Whisper Hole renamed to Novices & Accepted (Secret Whisper Hole). Hopefully that keeps everyone happy.

 

3. The main White Tower and Warders public board content prior to mid 2017 has been archived.

- Main Timeline board removed, threads moved on to the Discussion and Planning Board.

Freelanders: 2 sub boards deleted, threads moved. Temporary technical problem with moving threads resulted in everything being archived from the FL main OOC board including pinned posts. It'll get sorted as soon as possible.

I'll admit, minimizing OOC forums - cool. Half the fun of RP is running around in different places. Minimiaing the IC forums so much is not my preferred style - given how much content is there. Not that it changes things, but just putting that out there as a personal preference.

It's less about personal preference (for any of us ) and more about boards actually being needed. They weren't needed. 16 people give or take isn't enough to justify a ton of boards, particularly when most weren't even being used. It also looks less welcoming to newcomers if we have 20 boards with no recently active threads instead of a handful of boards with lots of active RP's showing.

I'm about to post a Retro RP for an Intro to Saidar class, and a thought occurred to me: Can we get rid of the High Seas Board (it seems to get very little use) and convert it into a Retro RP board?

 

Also I cannot figure out how to add tags to a post; I must've missed that somewhere.... >_> (Thus I don't know if maybe there is a retro tag).

Hmm, I can't see any reason to confine that to Admin only. I'll check the settings and see if I can find where it is.

 - I've pulled most of the Tar Valon sub boards up one (or two) levels to the same level as the public OOC board for that section. Hopefully fewer clicks makes life a bit easier.

-The High Seas (DR) is renamed to Retro & Miscellaneous (DR). That do?

 

-Threads moved from The High Seas (DR) to the renamed The Mainland & The High Seas (DR).

Let's try and keep the Retro board to non-timeline compliant, but Canon RPs and not use it for mirror-world RPs and the like. That's what the Reflections board is for

- In the interests of reducing OOC boards, Discussion and Planning board deleted. Most threads archived. Pinned and recent threads moved to The Welcome Inn.

Just to be extra safe, should we add a blurb under the description of the Welcome Inn to specify that is where planning should be done?

Can I just check that group-specific planning will still happen on group boards?

Yes, nothing's changed about the board uses. The main Discussion & Planning board was intended for Main Plotline RP discussion and inter Group RP planning.

Pinned info posts on The Welcome Inn updated with:

 

- current Staff details

- new character total

- a universal bio submission format

- unnecessary or outdated info removed from bio submission guidelines/Group details

-Everything is now moved over to the new Clubs boards. In this Club, all boards are public. For people with no bio, The Welcome Inn is still the only board they should be posting to.

 

-Huge amounts of dead threads (from all boards) have been archived in the old forums. I've discussed retaining read-only access to them for Staff for reference purposes, but they'll be unavailable to everyone else. If it looks like there are a few more pages in certain boards here, it's due to combining multiple boards into one, such as the OOC boards. Do not worry about personal records, ALL bios were moved here to the Club and so were ALL training/progress threads.

 

-Pinned threads are gradually being updated as we settle in but they should be in some semblance of order now. People will hopefully trickle back as they figure out we've moved.

 

-If you can't see the private Clubs for Tar Valon, The Alliance and Freelanders, you'll need to drop me a PM. Those Clubs are invite only. The boards had to be created separately as you can't have public and private boards in a single Club, it's either/or. If you find you're getting invites, this is the reason why!
