Yesss, wall of text time, its been too long.

I had more colorful options in mind

Hehe I know, but I forgot what this sub's rules on swearing was and too much time on Reddit has made me loosen up, so I'm remaining ultra conservative for now :P

Can we lynch verb now? Blindlynching him is weirdly and yet unsurprisingly arousing.

I'm definitely agreeing with the unsurprisingly part here

Unsurprising that Rand is scum again.

Verb will have to wait...

[v] Rand [/v]

I feel like this is a beat the grass type of move, but I'll bite, which part of what I said made you think I was scum?

Cloudflared. Didn't post the first time and it gave me a moment to have some coffee and realize that nobody is unaware of DM's policy regarding swearing. Nervous scumposting is what it smells like.

I didn't catch that initially, but it does cine off as awkward...hmm.

Rand? What d'you say?

I mean, I'm aware of it haha, and I reread it, that's why I was careful about what I said.  I've just gotten in a bad habit of swearing a lot more off DM, and I forgot how strict DM was with the rules.

[V]verbal [/v]

Lets try this again!!

Pew pew pew

It's Miller time.

All jokes aside, one of these is scum.

I can see why you'd think about that, scum likes to hop on bandwagons, but hopping onto a joke bandwagon on D1 doesn't have any real potential in it for scum, they're not going to actually get enough joke votes to lynch someone.  Again though, doesn't come off as scummy, more beating the grass again.  Glad you said this though, because it got this game up and going fast.

I think that's a bit of a stretch considering the stage if the game, verb. This isn't jn and you werent really at risk of getting lynched...

Thank god this isn't jn, I wanted to play a quality game of mafia :P

Idk what it is, but there's something about Verbal's reaction to being voted that seems over the top to me. It almost reminds me of Zander's reactions to the slightest bit of doubt and pressure. I suppose it could be from coming off of another game just recently though.

I've seen people do this to Verb a bunch of times.  He's reacting the same way pretty much that he always does, I don't see any overreaction here.  *Yours* on the other hand though, does seem a bit much, I don't see what he did to annoy you.

Yisss, first positive vibes for me, iirc this is exactly what Verbal does, and its not out of the norm.  This seems like a vague way of pointing some blame at Verbal.

First.

... to be last? :P

I agree with scummy #11

I initially thought this was good for Adella, but after reading through the later parts of this thread, this seems more like bandwagoning onto good opinions to me.  Not too much yet, just a slight vibe.

I mean on a normal day, sure.

I took the "more die die die" comment to mean anyone. Why? Are you only interested in hanging townies?

Hi Ben.  So, quick question.  How did you know I was a townie?

That would be a Rand level screw up right there.  Not sure if just teasing Nynaeve or a Freudian slip, but maybe a guy to keep an eye out on.

*Popcorn intensifies*

These were both terrible :/ I feel almost sure that one of you is mafia at this point for this alone, this was the perfect type of potential slip up that wasn't really one that mafia would jump onto.  Normally that would make me think Ben was more town, but its also possible that he really did slip up and they didn't want to be seen defending him.  So basically, still the same read on Ben, but I feel good about at least one of Adella and Hally being mafia.

Ah, ok. I was just rushing through and catching up, not paying super close attention to who was responding to what except when quotes were used. But if you DID kill everybody, the gerbil would squeak, right? So you could potentially cover all the bases with one move.

I wasn't clear on the fact that she was having a direct convo with you. I wasn't paying that close of attention.

The timing was interesting, that's all.  I don't know what is more interesting to me, though - your comment, or how both Hallia & Adella responded to it.....

;-)

Great minds, literally thought this right before reading your post.  Though calling you a great mind might be a little bit of a stretch :P

Ugh you're town again arent you?

Spoil sport :-/

This by itself puts Nyn on my town list.

I can't fully explain why but this just really feels off to me.  I read this as Adella finding a random reason to call someone town, and try to gain their trust, which would imply to me that Nynaeve is more town.

Also, my vote is on Rand. Which you don't feel is poke-worthy, evidently. LOL

:( I'm poke worthy.

[v]Adella[/v]

Hmmmm, I agree, but why?

Keeping things close to the chest? If you had a town read I could maybe understand. I don't understand the logic here of keeping your scum read to yourself. The cons outweigh the pros. We can go throught them together and I can explain why you should reveal your read if you are open to discussing that topic.

I'm not sure I follow your reasoning of why 3 votes is concerning. You have a bit of a lapse in your logic as well. "Three votes that quick". It did concern you or am I wrong?

Let's say you're right, I don't see how you can object to the votes if you haven't objected to the people that voted you or called them out on their voting you. You have said the principle of the thing is what's important, so you must not have been that concerned. I feel like you're lying or are covering something up because you're concerned about how town will respond to it. Just fyi I am a sucker for the truth. And keeping your scum read to yourself isn't helping you. Work with people it's a game, gotta trust someone eventually bud.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

uhhh as an aside I would unvote Clovdyx in preparation to vote someone else except I am not sure how specifically the protocol for it. if its the same tags and just "unvote".

Yes, keeping it to the chest for now.  We can go through them together and I'll explain why I should not reveal them yet, especially considering the read is fluid and it is still early.  The lecturing tone won't work on me - I'm often guilty of the same method myself, heh.

There is no lapse in logic - you are just focusing on the word "quick" when the operative word is "three".  I even bolded the word "number", so I don't see why you aren't following.

How have I not objected to the people?  I said I think one of them is scum....isn't that objecting to the person(s) voting me?  And you're putting words into my mouth about what/whether I'm concerned about - that's a lapse in logic from you, friend.  Just FYI, I'm a sucker for pouncing when people make too many assumptions.

I will trust people in this game eventually, once I have solid town reads.  Part of the reason I'm not sharing specific reads just yet is because of the way I came about obtaining them.  There may be a method to my madness.  ;-)

Imma just say that definitely for this game, I can understand that some people may want to keep reads to their chest.

Ok

tl;dr

Hally gave good vibes, but then bad ones with the leap onto Verbal's logic.  Null read

Ben gave a weird read with the townies comment, someone to keep an eye on, but nothing too significant.

Adella is my main scum read, seems to jump onto trains as they form, give town designations to people for small reasons.  I think for d1, its enough that I'll [v]Adella[/v]

Agree with Sooh's vote, but confused to why that vote happened, some explanation there would be nice before I can get a read.

Verbal and Nynaeve seem normal in their interactions, and Adella's thing for Nynaeve makes me think both of them are town.

DPR I have no idea, null read, though I liked him beating the grass right out the gate.  Also damn it, you remember my scum slip up too :/

Everyone else is null reads as of right now.

Okay, caught up to where I actually entered the thread.  Did everybody get really drunk before this game started?  There is zero percent chance any experienced player should have genuinely thought Verb was at risk of getting lynched with three very obvious joke votes a few hours into the game.  Sooh is absolutely in the right that him saying "one of these is scum" is over reacting.  I don't know what game's Hallia's been reading, but I don't agree with her take on him at all.

DPR arguing rand is scum because he forgot about the profanity rule is laughable, at best.

Sooh's explanation of her vote is ??? to me.  I can't fathom putting THAT much thought into a what's, for all intents and purposes, a completely meaningless vote.

Nyn's the only one making sense to me, but I guess Verb looks goodish for trying to make sense of Sooh?

Not sure why you're caught up on whether I over reacted - how do you know I was serious with the "one of these is scum" comment?  Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't.  If one of them ends up being scum, we can discuss how awesome my gut is post-game, hehe.

Can you explain how I over reacted, though?  I'm still not clear on that.  I had a gut feeling, and I said as much.  I also had a gut feeling about how Hallia & Adella responded to my poke at Ben.  I see them as the same type of situation, so I'm not following how any type of over reaction comes into play.

Hi Ben.  So, quick question.  How did you know I was a townie?

This looks really good for Verb.  I didn't really take Ben's comment that way since he DID seem pretty lost as to what was going on, but if Verb knew who Nyn was talking about, I think it's definitely possible HE would have.  I'm not sure it is an actual slip, though.  His follow up post about "But if you DID kill everyone..." makes me think he legitmately had no idea who she was talking about.

I also have no idea if Ben knows gerbil=Verbal.  I think that might be some reference to another game?

It seems you're the first person to notice that my vote moved, which was surprising somewhat. My vote is on her because I'm not sure her tone is genuine, and I wanted to see if she would have a reaction. So far she hasn't acknowledged it at all, which is interesting in itself.

If your gut feeling was completely unrelated to the votes, you're right.  It seemed like you were saying you saw the votes and thought, "Oh man, one of these people is scum for sure!".  I can only speak from MY pov, but I don't think I'd ever have that thought process.  "Oh, cool, getting ran up - wonder if any of them are scum piling on", maybe, but it came across as a lot more confident than that.

And like I said before...I don't remember seeing YOU play that way, either.

Blippity bloo blah, doing a reread between classes. I greatly appreciate the fact that the joke phase lasted just three pages. Less stuff to skim past with my eyes glazed over. So, what do we have...

It's Miller time.

All jokes aside, one of these is scum.

My take on it is that if there is scum there, it's more likely to be Sooh. The other two votes read as genuine jokes, particularly DPR's. Anyhow, DPR responds:

But seriously, let's back up.  Tell me why that hunch of mine is so bad.  Really.

We're on D1, page 3, and up until my real vote on Rand, I'm pretty sure we've been looking at joke votes.

My "Miller time" comment was obviously a joke.

And, you gave no reason for calling us scum.

But you are pulling the attention off of my vote on Rand.

Verbal seems to agree with me about Sooh's vote, so she throws down some ATE in response:

Idk what it is, but there's something about Verbal's reaction to being voted that seems over the top to me. It almost reminds me of Zander's reactions to the slightest bit of doubt and pressure. I suppose it could be from coming off of another game just recently though.

DPR tunneled on me all game long, literally.  This post of yours serves zero purpose other than to slighly nudge at me and give yourself an out by referencing another game.

No bueno.

Yes, I'll just stop saying what I think then, and just shy away in the corners because whatever I say is "an excuse" or "an out".

Fun game.

Yeah, Sooh doesn't look good to me so far. Then Adella chimes in to agree with Verb:

*popcorn*

thoughts on their vote and my reaction?
I actually agree with the initial thought. It's too good of an opportunity to Lynch a (possible) townie for scum to not slip a vote in there without actually looking guilty since it was a joke by multiple people.

But it's a vote train on you, so I have to take it with a grain of salt.
If it wasn't the beginning of D1 I would agree with you.
The beginning of D1 is the only real time to place a joke vote and get away with it.
So you really can't tell then, until people have started moving their votes.

This is true, but a train of 3 people right out of the gate is a bit suspicious, generally day 1 votes are more spread out at first. I'm definitely not going to try to Lynch anyone based on their pile onto Verb, but I absolutely agree with him that there is likely to be scum in that train.

And I'll make a separate post for the last page since I haven't read it yet. But first, I second this question. Votes that come in their own post always always always deserve explanation. Scratch that, votes in general always deserve explanation.

You can multitask?  Man things have changed, they grow up so fast.

Rand - Two questions.

1) What gave you good vibes about Hallia?

2) Why do you think it's a bad sign that Adella is town reading people?

1) The way she defended Verbal's actions.  I have a town read on Verbal as of right now, and am definitely sure that I don't see his actions as scummy, so someone defending that logically, in the exact same way I would've, clicked with me as someone else who would also be town.

2) Not just town reading people, but town reading people off of seemingly innocuous posts.  Makes me think that she might just be trying to gain some trust and following in the town group (which is what gave me more of a town read on Nynaeve).  That combined with everything else seemed to be odd.

It seems you're the first person to notice that my vote moved, which was surprising somewhat. My vote is on her because I'm not sure her tone is genuine, and I wanted to see if she would have a reaction. So far she hasn't acknowledged it at all, which is interesting in itself.

I don't think I was the first, but regardless, I can see that, seeing as its pretty much the same reasoning I had... I agree that its interesting she hasn't acknowledged it, I can't recall if its because she hasn't posted since, or if she has, it seems a little likely that she just wanted to disregard it in hopes it would go away

Sooh's explanation of her vote is ??? to me.  I can't fathom putting THAT much thought into a what's, for all intents and purposes, a completely meaningless vote.

*shrug* It was my thoughts at the time and I shared them.

What other thoughts do you have?
