So, something I've been thinking about. With this setup, town can essentially win in one night if the vigs don't crossfire and all hit scum. While that is not likely, especially N1, I'd like to submit the POTENTIAL IDEA that maybe if a vig plans on taking a shot on any given night, they call it out as to not cross shots with another vig.

Just a thought, and not something I'm saying we need to do......but I'd like to discuss the potential pitfalls and merits.

Crossfire is good if one's wrong, though.

This makes me confused.

Caught up, or at least read up. Massive head ache this morning.

Still not liking Adella's posting, and her explaining better than Hallia is only a very minor point in her favor I feel, because I think she would be good at explaining herself even as scum.

Feeling pretty good about LZM and Nyn so far. Probably also Verb. Neutral on pretty much everyone else, though I will say that that mess which was a DPR post above here in blue is making me think he's towny.

Unfortunately this makes me feel even less good about Sooh. I want you to be town so bad! Idk if that is happening here...

Felt the same way. TownSooh provides teh reasons, no?

Not when her head is pounding and she's about to puke.

also prompt response, sooh lol

I happened to see it :P

I'm not going to quote the entire blue / green monstrosity, so here's this part:

I said: The problem is, you've just returned from a break - tight? How long have you been away? Been awhile, right? So, forgetting things would be fine, but you seem to have an amazing memory when it comes to things like Verb's play style, which you've commented on several times as being "normal". How do you remember Verb's "normal" play style, but you forgot the rule about swearing on a PG-13 site?

Nervous chatter is what it sounds like. Trying to fit in when you're rusty.

Rand replied:3ish years iirc, but here's the thing, I didn't forget the rule.  You keep saying that I forgot the rule, which is honestly starting to look like purposeful misdirection on your part.  Here's the direct quote of what I said.

"Hehe I know, but I forgot what this sub's rules on swearing was and too much time on Reddit has made me loosen up, so I'm remaining ultra conservative for now :P"

I remembered that there was a rule on swearing, I just didn't remember what the extent of the rule was.  Its much easier to remember someone's personality who you interacted with for years, then the extent of a rule that you previously didn't have to worry about as much as I do now, just because I didn't even swear that much then.

***

So, I bolded the part where Rand tells me that I'm "purposefully misdirecting" his statement about forgetting the rule. Then he posts his quote I got it from where he clearly states that he forgot the rule?

Regardless, I thought it was weird because he's an example of why that rule exists - I think he was 14 the last time I was in a game with him, and I don't remember him being na especially hardcore rebel back then... so I don't think he forgot.

I also don't buy that does remember Verb's personality. Verb has changed his game over the years, just like everybody else, so not sure how this is possible after a 3 year break.

Last, I know that several players - including myself - returned and took a minute to get used to how the game has evolved. I found it odd that this didn't happen to him.

That's it. Verdict is still out on most everybody else as it's too early to connect dots and such. If I had to pick 1 for scum right now, it'd be Rand.

Like I replied to Clov - Rand's tone seems nervous to me.

This makes me confused.

It means that if two people shoot the same person and that person was town... it minimizes the damage. Furthermore if a person calls out shooting a townie, scum would know not to shoot that person.... but if it wasn't called out then if a vig would shoot the same person that scum were and he/she was town.... it also minimizes damage. Like there was some recent game where I got both nked and vigged on the same night.... :P

But I think I might have misunderstood what Verbal meant. I thought he suggested vigs to just role claim and claim their shots. Would be different if he meant like everyone doing like "vig cover"... but I'm not sure how that would work either because if I vig cover X person and that person dies then it would make it pretty obvious I'm a vig.

Can the nervousness not also be from his first game back in years and wanting to do well?

DPR - I don't understand how your point about Rand is scummy at all. I've played with the guy, so it's not like he hasn't been around for a decade, and even if he had...so what?

To keep everything in context, It's D1 and I don't think anyone is claiming to be certain about anything at this point.

Rand pinged me with his chat - it struck me as having a nervous tone and I didn't buy his claim that he forgot DM's rules. Just seemed like a weird thing to say, like scum trying to fit in, so I mentioned it.

At this point, he's in my top 3 for scum. We'll see what happens when the info starts coming in.

I meant town clearing vs. Scum hunting. Speaking personally, I don't see how someone can do one and not yhe other, but that's a dead horse atp... I just don't see it meaning anything for his alignment

Does it make sense when I describe a distinct difference in the way the game sed to be played vs. now? Ed mentioned it, Tigs mentioned it and maybe Adella? So I found it possible odd that Rand came back and didn't mention it.

Honestly, Hallia/Nyn stuff is making me insecure about them. I did initially feel good about Nyn, so I'll hold on to that a bit longer. I hope I feel certain soon :)

Hallia could go either way actually. In my recollection her posting is whenever she can find the time, not always with a whole lot of reasoning.

I'm pretty sure another of your top 3 is Verbal, who's your 3rd? Have I missed someone you've been going after?

And I'm fine with you mentioning it, but from my point of view, and other's I've explained it pretty thoroughly, prob more thoroughly than a confusion about the CoC should be explained haha, but you've been going after that single point hard, which is whats confusing to me.

I'm pretty sure you weren't in that game, Rand. Nyn, hallia, verb, me...think that's it from this line up.

Hmm, I think I remember it being at least talked about then

Ok sorry folks haha, I'll stop using color.

DPR on your first point, literally after the part you stopped the bolding for I say what the rules for swearing were on here, so I'm remaining conservative.  That obviously means that I remember there are some rules on swearing, but I don't know the strictness of the rules so I'm staying conservative.

And damn I was 14?? Whew

Also, its not just Verbal's personality I remember, I remember Darthe, Despo, Mynd, Nyn, Hally, Ayla for the few games she played haha, even some guys like Ape from JN who I played with only a few times.

What distinct difference in the way the game used to be played? If you're talking about town clearing vs scum hunting, that was very much a thing when I played, I'm not that old

But that's just me. He's not in any danger of being lynched. it's just a point I noticed that may or may not pan out.

That makes sense, in that I get what you're discussing. Just not sure how THAT is a reason to suspect him.

I won't lie and say I'm not tossing the whole remembering meta thing around though.

To anyone - was rand a meta heavy player ?

Again, it's D1, so we're looking at pretty much anything to try and establish a baseline. Then we'll see what follows into D2, etc.

I don't feel that nervous about my first game back if that's what you're thinking about, so I agree with you there.  I'm more excited to get this going, and to be back in a game than nervous for sure.

Fwiw, I wasn't so meta heavy that I'd look through old games and see how people acted when they were town or scum, which I know some people did, but acting in-line with their standard personality and gut feels were definitely something I used a lot.

Nyn was right.  I was wrong.  Hallia didn't mention her until earlier this afternoon when she discussed Nyn's town.
