Dont like the "haVE TO CONFER ON dARTHE BUT CAN VOTE dICE WITHOUT IT) sorry caps lock sux.

havent been a fan of a lot of both their posts. tone has been hard   and i CAN see why some would call it aggressive   and defensive even when i was the only vote. the beating a rug comment still irks me as i take it as a poke at me that was totally wrong. I dont really care about the partners question but i havent liked the repetitive open ure mind look at others posts.

they havent really been in danger of being lynched  the votes seem to hit 3 or 4 and stall.

so I think they may be scum. I could be wrong I could be right but thats where im going.

@Dice

I'm really sorry you took that as a poke at you. It really wasn't intended to be that way and it was very bad wording on my part.

I'll give you that we were reacting to only 3 or 4 votes. But in the moment I had no clue how many votes were on us, and it felt like a lot more. Especially because several people were kind of going at us at once whether they were voting us or not.

@seph and clovette  :D   i dont mind u being defensive at 3 or 4 votes 24 hrs in. My problem is how early you got defensive. im not going back and hunting it down but my memory says it started when i  and only i had voted you. defensive at 3 or 4? fine  at 1 or 2? makes me think ure a scum power role when i look at everything else

We were trying to correct misconceptions and had to keep repeating the same conversation because people kept repeating the same misconceptions.

Okay, so I did my best to reread itt but realized I was running out of time.  decided to try and do a reads list but decided too late.  I was going to go in order then realized my best bet was to go by the ones that were more important to me.  Then I got stuck in circular reasoning myself. So I am only going to have a couple.  Hopefully will get up early tomorrow to finish it off or most of it, anyways.

DPR - the damn dirty pirate (DreadPirateRoberts): null/slight townie:  I don't like his harsh mouth but I do like the points he makes wrt liz/mc and eldrick.  However, this quote, "No no no - I'm setting up the mislynches. I do this by using logic everyone can see, but that won't work and only I will know it because I am teh scum." makes me cringe for two reasons: 1. because I know it is probably just a joke but it's almost as bad as asking, "who are our scum partners?" which he vehemently opposed. 2. He could be telling the truth.  I am going with number 1 for right now. PAFO.

Doc Cassiday - Doc by day, salon gal by night (Cass):
 Calamity Sooh (Sooh)
 Kronos McLintock (WolfbrotherKronos)
 NotBob Cassidy (鲍勃不是我的名字)
 Darthe Wade (Darthe)
Wildfire Oakley (Wildfire Sedai):  TOWN QUEENIE
 Hallia Cogburn (Hallia)

Eldrick the Kid (Eldrick4221): null/slight scummy: I know that I had him as townie but some things have changed.  For instance it has been brought up that he's not as investigatively as he usually is and what people are calling circular reasoning.  I had to look it up on google but don't think its the same as the fact  that he has been using the same reasons/thoughts over and over.  It seems like it should be but the example they gave was: The bible is inerrant as first logic set and whatever the bible says is true as the second logic set.  So I don't see that as being using the same reasoning over and over as...OKAY....now that I've written it out...I guess its the same as using the same reasons/thoughts over and over.  :huh:

 Cuthroat Jesse (Cuth)
 Rootin Tootin Seph (seph)
 The amazing Tiink (Tiinker)
 Dice - Lone Stranger (dicetosser1)
 Wild Bill Spoot (Spoof)

Miss Kizzy Clov (MrsClov and Lizabeth): null: The reason I have them as null even though they have been the topic of discussion for 99% of the game is because they do have some posts that clarify their reasoning for post #309. "who do you think my scummates are?" I am on the edge when it comes to them, Mainly because it is a hydra.  I have found most of liz posts to be null/slightly scummy and mc's to be null/slightly townie.

Crushlove the Bacon Bandit (The Crusher)

For now cause I have OT AND PT and I might not make it to DL, I am going to [v] dricky [/v]

@ dice I don't really see a contradiction of what you are talking about here. look at the order of events in the spoiler.

1. talks about voting you

2. jokes aout rvs on dice, but needs to confer with partner

3. cass jumps in and encourages her to not worry about her partner

4. ends up voting you instead of darthe.

I could understand your point if there was no encouraging from cass, but from my point of view and the series of posts I don't think there was 1. ok on witht he read

So ready!

So cute!

okay, no voting Sooh!

(And Happy Birthday!)

No Caszander?

I was looking forward to Caszander :(

Anyway, this would be the point at which I would join the RVS wagon on Darthe, but I feel like I should confer with my better half first...

Lizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz This is DM, home of ZANDER AND CASS - you can let your ENFP fly FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Mmm...that felt good >:)

Thank you.

Okay, I'm going to try to stop spamming the thread until I've caught up. I'm reacting in the moment apparently to things that have been addressed...

well?  you gonna do it seph? I encourage you.

This makes 0 sense.

Are you saying that me voting for you was as dangerous as jumping off of a bridge?

You're contradicting yourself now, because you just said that you knew it was joke. But now you're making it as serious as death.

hi cass :) sadly i literally got 1 iso done, which was liz's going to quickly run through mrs clovs again. one big thing in my notes dpr just touched on was liz literally has done 0 scumhunting.

this is from my ntoes

she asks questions but never follows up itt. The one she claims she did about dice she has still not shared. Everyone knows town liz asks questions and likes them answered but for the amount of questions she has asked it wasn't until page 37 she actually gives her first reads list, where she town reads me with 0 explanation, and cuth for backing off of her, and dice which i don't remember seeing any progression itt on. The thing that bugs me with reads is most of them just seem to be thread consensus and she doesn't really give any real info or progression to any ofher reads.

Ugh, i have to respond to this.

What do you mean I ask questions but never follow up. I hounded Cuth to respond to my questions. Also had to hound Darthe.

I don't even know what you're talking about with what I supposedly did about Dice. If you're talking about going back to what his original posts were, either Eldrick or Cuth posted them for me and I responded to it.

When people have asked me questions I've responded to them as well.

It's hard to do scumhunting when everyone keeps repeating the same falsehoods over and over again and I have to keep countering them.

And what do you think I was doing when I was insisting that Darthe answer my questions. Which led me to decide he was likely town?

Or when I've challenged other people on their motivations for why they're doing things.

What do you define as "scumhunting"? And that's a serious question, because I feel like there are a lot of vagueries being thrown around.

IMO the majority of players in this thread have done 0 scum hunting. I've already pointed out why I thin that about Darthe and DPR because all they've done is parrot the same things other people have said without actually exploring anything themselves.

So explain to me what you mean by "scumhunting" and where you think it's actually being done in the thread at this point.

Posted

The only difference between Dice and myself is that I have been around a lot more to address on Liz, and yet they Town read him for it and wolf read me when we are exactly the same amount of adamant about the same things. Don't you think that's interesting?

Apparently you don't actually read my posts and only respond based on the narrative you've already made up in your mind.

I've stated in the thread that I read you as town (unfortunately). MrsClov still thinks you're probably scum. Stick to the facts.

And for the record I'm reading you as town for much the same reason I'm reading Dice as town.

Okay, I"m caught up and here are some thoughts.

Darthe: Darthe's only real contribution to the thread at this point has been pointless fluff and picking up on a joke post I made about RVS voting him and then running down the tunnel like there's a pile of gold at the end of it. He could be doing this as town (I once played in a game where he argued someone was scum because of the way they punctuated their sentences...) because he's pretty full of himself and pigheaded as town. I generally find him to be frustrating to play with for that reason. I'm also keeping in mind that Seph claims to be able to read him well, and right now I have Seph in my town column.

But I don't put it past him to do it as scum either. I read part of his last game where he was scum and he was pretty bold and in people's faces, pretty much running with the "hahaha, i can do whatever I want!" It's also very easy to make a push by just quoting things and saying "this is so wolfy" without actually explaining what it is about that post that is actually wolfy. And he ignores questions as scum or as town, but I'd like someone else to push him to put his thoughts on record so he can't just hide behind "everyone thought they were wolfy" and people can actually track what his progression of thoughts are.

I want to know more about what @Hallia and Seph in particular expect from him when he's scum.

(by the way, I'm going to continue to vehemently disagree with the mindset that town should only focus on one day at  a time in a game. Thinking ahead does not mean locking in future actions, what it does mean is exploring things in real time so that you can find actual scum and/or go back the next day and challenge people if their progression sucks. It forces people to actually describe their motivations, rather than "oh well, we'll just sort it out tomorrow". I've never understood the mentality of "oh we can't look ahead from D1, which is only slightly worse than the "d1 is useless" mentality.)

You can call me biased, but I agree with MrsClov that Cuth's progression on us has seemed to be townie. And I was reading him as town when he was tunneling on us anyway. Same thing with Seph (who is still reading us as scum) and Eldrick (who MrsClov and I don't totally agree on for the record).

MrsClov reads Hallia as townie but I don't know how to read Hallia.

I'm currently reading Sooh as townie. I've only played one game with her before where she was scum and I was town (FF7). I scum read her early because of the way that she was shading me (basically just throwing out suggestions about me being scum without backing anything up) and then i thought she was townie in her responses to me in that when I challenged her she stuck to her read but seemed open and honest in the way that she responded to me. Eventually came around to realizing she was scum over N1 and we wound up lynching her on D2.

In this game, though, I'm reading her posts as being open and honest BEFORE being challenged. I don't know her scum range, but at the moment I'm reading her as town.

My current don't really trust list (aside from Darthe) are notbob, DPR, and Crusher. Notbob seems to be hedging a lot of bets. I've already called out DPR on some posts that don't read as genuine to me, including his statement about Eldrick being "wound up" (he never did answer my question on that one, just commented on Eldrick's answer I believe). And Crusher...I'm going to reread him. But he seems to be taking the easy route at the moment as well.

Tinker has done nothing to explore anything at all in the game and then pops in to place an easy vote on us. If he is who I think he is (from skype) then I believe that he's part of the whole "d1 is useless" crowd, which I find annoying but not alignment indicative, so he's someone I'd like to see pushed. There's absolutely no reason for anybody to say at this point that there's no information to work with in the thread.

So you really don't trust the folks that think your scum? You think I'm taking the easy route because I think you are scum? I gave reads on other players, listed Eldrick in my top three and gave my likely towns. But yeah, I'm taking the easy route. I woke up to 20+ pages to read. On what ever page this post is from. I play mostly from my phone so I'm slow moving. Well, err, uhh and fat. T

No. I already stated that I read Dice, Darthe and Seph as town.

Dice and Darthe because I associate reactivity and stubbornness with their town games.

Seph because he's actually made an effort to resolve our slot.

But last I saw, all three of them are voting us.

I think you're taking the easy route because up until this post I've seen you do nothing to actively engage our slot or any other slot in the thread.

But I'll see if I feel differently in a moment.

(I really need to stop responding...It's taking me forever to catch up).

@Liz

1. You skipped me!!! (?)

2. WRT Darthe:

I find it hard to decipher your actual stance on him if you have one.

- GTH do you have him Town or Scum?

- Will have to catch up to decide on the pointless fluff but imo that doesn't sound like Darthe to me in either alignment. What makes you think it's pointless?

- Why do you want to hear from Hallia and Seph in particular?

FTR Darthe being inyerface/confident in his pushes is null for him but my impression of it from last game is that he's fairly negatively focused when scum and the pushes tend towards an ulterior-motive/plan type feel.

3. I agree with the bold and have a preference for the underlined. Find it a fluffy mention here though.

4. Tiink is the London dude going for important interviews. 'D1 is useless' discussion here/earlier reads to me like filler/fluff.

I have no confidence in my ability to read NotBob / DPR / Crusher but mindmelded with DPR on early Eldrick seeming sus and with Crusher later on. Have you played with NotBob before?

Aorn can't decide if this post is genuine thoughts or over waffle.

If it hasn't been done already could you link me to Town / Scum games pls?

1. I skipped you because I'm still trying to figure you out. Never played with you before, but I know you're experienced at fooling people as scum, not exactly sure what that looks like. While I'm leaning town on you, I was saying to MrsClov that you're probably one of those players that I'll always have as a null/town at best. Not willing to vote you today. But one of the outstanding questions I have to for you (not sure if it's addressed in later pages) is whether your vote on Darthe is/was serious.

2. Assuming you've caught up by now and should  see that my current read on darthe is that he's town. Town that frustrates me, but I believe he's town. I agree that the inyerface pushes are not alignment indicative of him, which is why I pushed so hard for him to actually respond to things rather than playing it aloof. I've played with him before and I know his modus operandi, but I can't read him when he does the "too cool for school" routine.

I specifically aske Seph and Hallia because they stated pretty confidently that Darthe was town and I'm assuming they've played with him as both roles. I've only played with him when he's been town and only read a part of his last scum game.

3. I'm getting tired of having to explain my playstyle, so I"m just going to stop doing it. But yes, it is typical for me to include side-rants in my posts about attitudes that annoy me.

4. It's not filler fluff. It's an explanation about why I'm not sure that him lurking and popping in just to join a popular wagon is alignment indicative or not. I have very little meta on most of the players in this game so I have to use what I've got.

My only scum game on DM is 90s mafia. I already linked my last town game here.

That's not my meta of you, but you're definitely trying to stab.

I recommend getting a sharper weapon, Darthe is tough to kill.

Darthe, did I say I was trying to kill you? Pay attention to what's being said and stop reading based on "feeling"

either you're town and being reactive/irrational (as in not actually responding to what's being said to you) or you're scum and hiding behind evasion. I'm pointing out provable untruths that you keep repeating. You have done nothing to actually address any of that.

You claim to have a meta on me, but you forget all the times that I've hounded you as town? I don't believe in alternative facts, so don't expect me to not challenge you on that crap.

Okay, really going to stop responding to you for real. Until you follow up on your promise to reread the thread at least.

I said it feelz right and now you're misrepping as if I am an emotional player in a lot of your posts.

That'd be hillarious if it weren't such a pitifully reductive way to try and back out of this.

You're gonna die, you know?

You are an emotional player. Your whole reaction to me was emotional. I understand that you don't like to see yourself that way, but basically your reaction to me pushing you was "OMG THEY"RE BEING SO MEAN TO ME YOU GUYS!"

Much like your reaction in FF7 when you finally got enough pressure on you to start responding to questions instead of acting like you're too cool for school.

I might die. And then you can figure out how you played so poorly today that you got town killed because of an irrational tunnel.

I honestly wish I thought you were scum, because it would make things really easy for me. But I know your type, whether you want to acknowledge it or not. And unlike you, I actually have learned from past experiences playing with you.

Catching up now. Hope to see that you've done your homework in the meantime...

Just more of the terrible.

Any chance I could talk all of you out of constantly referring to old games? Maybe just go by the posts in this one, which would be really great for the town players that weren't in all of the others...

Well, it's fitting that I think your posts are pretty terrible. If you're town then we obviously have different approaches to the game. And given that all you've done all game is tunnel in on town (I'm pretty sure at this point that Eldrick is town too), I'm pretty confident that my play is better than yours given that I'm actually trying to resolve people's alignment instead of repeating catch phrases like "this is bad" "this is terrible" and "post 309".

That said you've actually done something to engage the thread since I started catch up. So good job!

But at this point I'm trying to figure out whether you're one of "those" players or this is your scum play. Who here, other than Eldrick has played with you before?

@Eldrick, you mentioned that DPR tunnelled on you the last game you played together. How many games ago was that? And are you reading him the same way this game as he was the last one?

Can you share your insight please. Why isn't he scum?

I think I just explained it?

I've played with him before. I've played with multiple different versions of him on my homesite. When he finally started reacting to me pushing on him it read to me as emotional (not going to use the other description that comes to mind, because I'm trying to be nice) rather than manipulative. It's what I expect from town Darthe. I'd expect him to be more smooth and manipulative as scum darthe. I've never played with scum darthe before, but it fits with my town experience with him and advice I've gotten from other players about how to differentiate his town from scum play.

I don't hate it, but to be fair, WIFI did post a temporary reads list at least when she got around page 14. I forget what post it was exactly. A follow up  post regarding thoughts would have been nice though.

DPR, I am going to comment on this.

No announcement required, just jump right in.

you keep commenting on old material without addressing any recent developments. It's easy to keep going "post 309 post 309 post 309" and call it a day.

I give you my opinions in real time and after having caught up with the thread unless otherwise noted.

But I've already explained why that argument no longer holds water because I've provided proof that I have used a similar tactic successfully in a previous game here on DM. But you don't want to address that, because that would force you to have to change your narrative.

This is garbage play. Stinky, left-out-in-the-hot-summer-sun-for-days stinky. And just becuase you've "explained" something, doesn't mean anyone bought it (see the current vote count).

I've used lots of techniques in past games. They mean absolutely nothing in context to this one. Your explanation ain't worth 2 cents.

What does matter is your play, and in this game, your play has been terribly distracting with no scum hunting at all. None.

You can't say "town would never say this" because I've proven that I've said it as town. Whether you think its a good tactic or not it's irrelevant to our alignment.

Maybe you've played poorly before - that I believe. Doesn't mean that we need to suffer it again, especially since it has dominated D1 to the point of naseau.

You can keep saying "they're being self-serving and defending themselves and they haven't done anything" but you won't answer my question about what you expect us to do as town when we're being tunneled on.

Can and will darlin'. And coaching you ain't my job.

Eldrick, Seph and Cuth have at least engaged us, asked us to clarify, they've actually tried to figure out our alignment. You've done none of this. Neither have I yet seen you explore any other leads. And I'm going to challenge you to show what you've done other than throw "post #309" in my face. We were in the thread starting conversations and following up on things when you were just popping in to vote Eldrick early on some flimsy basis (and you never responded to my question about what you meant by that accusation, which I asked by the way because Eldrick mentioned that you had tunneled on him when he was town in a previous game, and I foolishly expect people to learn their lessons from past experiences).

Don't care. I'll let the game judge the quantity and quality of my posts. Yes I have. Post #309 - own it. You're wasting the hell out of everybody's time.

You're either playing lazy scum or lazy town. But don't expect me not to call you out of it.

Do what you gotta do.

But I'm going to try not to respond to your posts as I'm catching up anymore because they're just full of repetitive nonsense. I've never played with you before, but from what I've heard you are not a new player, so it's not like you have the "newb" excuse. Hopefully it gets better in the next 10 pages, but I'm not holding out much hope at this point.

Pretty sure I never gave the "newb" excuse. What's getting better is the vote count.

Oh boy.

I'm in blue above.

The only thing I'll respond to from this drivel is that that basically you are saying that it doesn't matter to you if we're town and you have no interest in exploring other leads if your main reason for voting us isn't relevant to our alignment.

Yep, you're an awesome town player alright. I'll make sure to pay close attention to you so I can learn how to play in my next games.

(because you seem to frequently miss the point of stuff, I'm going to go ahead and point out that that was sarcasm)

Seriously, is there any way to turn off the automatic nested quotes?

@Cass re: my fails above:

(I don't know if this attempt at editing quotes will turn out right, but I'm too tired to doublecheck, so forgive me if it's a mess. I rally hate the nested quote system at DM :( (love the PM system though!).

Eldrick seemed confused about what I was saying. When he responded to me he said something about him trying to please me (thinking that's what I had said to him) and I had to explain that I was talking about me not trying to please him/other players. And then he went "ohhhhh!"

Dice also misconstrued the whole enfp/vote thing. So what's your current read on Dice?

I'm curious - why do you keep telling everybody what other players think and giving reasons for why they did things?

Just seems odd...

Ummm...if you actually paid attention to what I was responding to you'd see that I was answering questions that Cass asked me.

Yep, let me take down notes about how to play a great town game from you....you're doing great!

(also sarcasm, in case you missed)

The fact that you've done this before as town doesn't really absolve the actions in this game.  Outcomes do not dictate strategy, especially in a new arena.  The comment drew votes and attention.  I'm not convinced until the flip but you have really offered little alternatives.  My WTL is LizClov, Eldrick and Darthe.

I never said it did. Obviously you're not comprehending the point, so let me spell it out for you.

The fact that I have done it before as town is not alignment indicative. It does not make me town. It does not make me scum. You can read me as scum for other reasons, but that post is a null and repeating it is pointless.

How is this such a difficult concept for you to understand?

The reason by the way, is that when someone annoys me that much with their stubbornness and keep repeating the same bad logic in a game, they usually turn out to be town.

At this point my dont' want to lynch today pile is Cuth, Seph, Eldrick, Darthe, Dice,  and probably Sooh and Cass. I don't really have a read on Hallia at the moment, but MrsClov is confident she's town so I'm williing to go with that.

My most willing to lynch pile at the moment is notbob, tinker, spoof (has he even posted yet?)

I can't remember anything that Kronos has done but I know he's posted.

But I'm done for the night. I wont' be around for end of day but my partner will be.

@Cuth @Seph @Eldrick I really think all three of you are town. You're my strongest town reads who I think are actually working on solving the game at the moment so please don't destroy each other. If i'm wrong about any of the three of you, then I ain't even gonna be mad :P
