Okay, I"m caught up and here are some thoughts.

Darthe: Darthe's only real contribution to the thread at this point has been pointless fluff and picking up on a joke post I made about RVS voting him and then running down the tunnel like there's a pile of gold at the end of it. He could be doing this as town (I once played in a game where he argued someone was scum because of the way they punctuated their sentences...) because he's pretty full of himself and pigheaded as town. I generally find him to be frustrating to play with for that reason. I'm also keeping in mind that Seph claims to be able to read him well, and right now I have Seph in my town column.

But I don't put it past him to do it as scum either. I read part of his last game where he was scum and he was pretty bold and in people's faces, pretty much running with the "hahaha, i can do whatever I want!" It's also very easy to make a push by just quoting things and saying "this is so wolfy" without actually explaining what it is about that post that is actually wolfy. And he ignores questions as scum or as town, but I'd like someone else to push him to put his thoughts on record so he can't just hide behind "everyone thought they were wolfy" and people can actually track what his progression of thoughts are.

I want to know more about what @Hallia and Seph in particular expect from him when he's scum.

(by the way, I'm going to continue to vehemently disagree with the mindset that town should only focus on one day at  a time in a game. Thinking ahead does not mean locking in future actions, what it does mean is exploring things in real time so that you can find actual scum and/or go back the next day and challenge people if their progression sucks. It forces people to actually describe their motivations, rather than "oh well, we'll just sort it out tomorrow". I've never understood the mentality of "oh we can't look ahead from D1, which is only slightly worse than the "d1 is useless" mentality.)

You can call me biased, but I agree with MrsClov that Cuth's progression on us has seemed to be townie. And I was reading him as town when he was tunneling on us anyway. Same thing with Seph (who is still reading us as scum) and Eldrick (who MrsClov and I don't totally agree on for the record).

MrsClov reads Hallia as townie but I don't know how to read Hallia.

I'm currently reading Sooh as townie. I've only played one game with her before where she was scum and I was town (FF7). I scum read her early because of the way that she was shading me (basically just throwing out suggestions about me being scum without backing anything up) and then i thought she was townie in her responses to me in that when I challenged her she stuck to her read but seemed open and honest in the way that she responded to me. Eventually came around to realizing she was scum over N1 and we wound up lynching her on D2.

In this game, though, I'm reading her posts as being open and honest BEFORE being challenged. I don't know her scum range, but at the moment I'm reading her as town.

My current don't really trust list (aside from Darthe) are notbob, DPR, and Crusher. Notbob seems to be hedging a lot of bets. I've already called out DPR on some posts that don't read as genuine to me, including his statement about Eldrick being "wound up" (he never did answer my question on that one, just commented on Eldrick's answer I believe). And Crusher...I'm going to reread him. But he seems to be taking the easy route at the moment as well.

Tinker has done nothing to explore anything at all in the game and then pops in to place an easy vote on us. If he is who I think he is (from skype) then I believe that he's part of the whole "d1 is useless" crowd, which I find annoying but not alignment indicative, so he's someone I'd like to see pushed. There's absolutely no reason for anybody to say at this point that there's no information to work with in the thread.

So you really don't trust the folks that think your scum? You think I'm taking the easy route because I think you are scum? I gave reads on other players, listed Eldrick in my top three and gave my likely towns. But yeah, I'm taking the easy route. I woke up to 20+ pages to read. On what ever page this post is from. I play mostly from my phone so I'm slow moving. Well, err, uhh and fat. T

@Liz

1. You skipped me!!! (?)

2. WRT Darthe:

I find it hard to decipher your actual stance on him if you have one.

- GTH do you have him Town or Scum?

- Will have to catch up to decide on the pointless fluff but imo that doesn't sound like Darthe to me in either alignment. What makes you think it's pointless?

- Why do you want to hear from Hallia and Seph in particular?

FTR Darthe being inyerface/confident in his pushes is null for him but my impression of it from last game is that he's fairly negatively focused when scum and the pushes tend towards an ulterior-motive/plan type feel.

3. I agree with the bold and have a preference for the underlined. Find it a fluffy mention here though.

4. Tiink is the London dude going for important interviews. 'D1 is useless' discussion here/earlier reads to me like filler/fluff.

I have no confidence in my ability to read NotBob / DPR / Crusher but mindmelded with DPR on early Eldrick seeming sus and with Crusher later on. Have you played with NotBob before?

Aorn can't decide if this post is genuine thoughts or over waffle.

If it hasn't been done already could you link me to Town / Scum games pls?

I'm caught up.

Jetscode- Doing a mixture of his scum play and town play. Tend to think in parts do to not reading the thread in its entirety. But null to modest scum read for now.

Lizclov- saw nothing to make me change my mind. Actually found Liz list of people she is not sure of being basically her accusers is enough to drop my vote.

Eldrick- still think he is fence sitting trying to appear like the concerned townie. Yet his energy is good and he is contributing. But still null mild scummy.

Cass. Just showed up. No read yet.

Wifi- played with her before. Tends to get herself in trouble early as town. One game of reference but it stands out. Had a bad post that needs to be addressed at some point. Not today in my opinion.

Halia- showed up and not an expert on her though we have played a lot together. This is more than likely town Halia.

Dice- holding his ground and not terribly concerned what people think about it. It's townie play.

Go to do a few things and will be back.

It was more about learning about the new players and their playstyle than it was gauging their alignment, as I thought you were doing as well.

I gave you my reads on the 3 players in question. I will again.

Cuth. I see potential scum for backing off his vote on Lizclov, even though it felt like he still suspected them. His waiting to see who votes after the train went down feels like gauging if he should vote again or not.

Spoof. No read. Has he even posted content?

Crusher. No read yet. He has some information now to look at, but haven't actually pinned down a read on him yet. I'll ISO him today and see what's up.

Which is effectively what I said the first time, which "didn't answer your question"

Exactly.

I asked them questions to guage their play styles.

You made a post, with no comment/reflection on anything other than the fact they had/hadn't commented. I didn't/don't see your point.

I'm going to give this up as circular and put it as possi-sus.

I have a nagging feeling that lizclov is town everytime I read mrsclov... there are a few things i like about liz tone is 1, but her gameplay doesn't make up for it. And I know tone isn't the easiest thing to fake, but once people learn how to its hard to use it for or against them so i am trying not to let it factor in my decision to much.

Atm I don't really see me going to vote anyone but eldrick or lizclov. Tink is someone I wouldn't mind lyching but its a much bigger gamble and less reward.

BAHH I really think there is a wolf in eldrick/livclov.... [v] eldrick [/v]

going to read notbob then go to bed i think.

FWIW Liz has the same personality type as Zander and I. Tone's probably a null.

That makes MORE sense. But as I said before so many people are hung up on that post that it feels too easy.

That's because it's obvious.

They can't all be scum, now can they?

Of course they can't all be scum. That wasn't the point.

Point is that usually when a bunch of people converge on a single point like this, it's on town. I've never seen it happen on scum. And a good portion of the time it's led by scum, and they get town to pile on.

Cuth is the one that started pushing this point. Darthe and you have persisted on it.

I feel like that's what's going on here. And if they flip town you guys will be suspect.

I'm watching Cuth but atp I'm more inclined to put you in with Darthe and DPR on the push than him if the hydra flips Town. If they flip scum Cuth may be a different story for backing off.

You said "not caught up yet" a LOT in this post. Not sure why you want it known so badly, but the persistence is noted.

Is that alignment indicative, IYO?

And also

I'M NOT FULLY CAUGHT UP YET!!!!

How does 'NOT AGAIN' from hallia in relation to a random game start claim from Darthe = not WW. Comparing what and how?

Comparing to how she handled him doing it in the previous game.

He did it last game. She defended it as "Darthe being Darthe" and proceeded to defend him when people thought it was scummy.

I read this time as frustration/annoyance that he was doing it again. (She later agreed it was something akin to humor, not remembering the exact word, but it's about how I perceived it not her actual reason)

I read the post as genuine and so thought they weren't teammates again because of it. Good chance it's coming from town!Hally too.

How does frustration make her reaction here Towny?

Why does Cuth look better for it?

And I haven't decided yet if it's alignment indicative. It's just something I've noticed and am mulling over. It reads to me like you are worried about the fact that you're not caught up, that it's on your mind. Not sure what that means in terms of alignment.

As for Hally, it's just a gut feeling.

Claim: vigilante.

Discuss.

Didn't see this on the first read through, but are you really doing this the game after doing it in Sooh's Basic game as scum?

Darthe being Darthe.

Notbob usually instavotes me, and made a point of it last game because that claim was enough reason for him to do so. Here he is defending it?? Thats very atypical of you bobbo

I would...we can tag team?

Vote Darthe

There it is! Ok, I feel a bit better now, though not sussing the claim alone is just funky

Instavotes you every game, or as an alignment indicative thing?

Imo atypical implies every game, and the logic doesn't follow through to the second bold of that being funky.

Only got to 11 so far

Also @Liz I didn't miss your hello, hi lovie

@Dice

Why me for Tonto, Johnny Depp or otherwise?

@SEPHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Howdy, Stranger!

Penny for your thoughts?

*offers up her own seat at the bar*

I am still reading atm but sure [v] Eldrick the kid[/v]

*pulls up a seat* Im not ganna drink alone now!

Im still reading cass, I will give some thoughts when im caught up.

It was something I was comparing to his last game, need to read the first 10 pages there though before I blurt something out. do you have a reason for why not eldrick?

I was going to ask for reasoning above, but then you made this post.  I'm hoping to see it as I continue my reread.

Reach for the sky and gimme teh bacon.

@The Crusher and @Spoof

1. Hi and Welcome to DM!

2. How much mafia have each of you played?

3. Who here have you played with before and how do you differentiate their Town/Scum games?

4. Got any readz?

Thank you. Give or take ten years worth. I have to played with most everyone here cept maybe you and couple others. I'm not really into meta for the most part. I usually play by gut instinct. I have a tremendous gut............instinct. No reads yet but people reacting to Darthes claiming vig like it's anything more than Darthe acting out could be a good start. Other than that I gots nothing.

Spoof answered the questions. Crusher avoided them. Someone else commented on that they should be included, but didn't answer them.

Do I have to worry about you Eldrick?

Interesting

Do you think he specifically ignored you, Crushlove?

Red flag on Hallia.

The word "interesting" is something she has been nailed on before as scum.

Interesting

More seriously, can you explain?

I was waiting on the same thing wrt Seth so that looked good to me. Interesting caught my eye but only because I don't see why it was worth italics.

Hally, if it hasn't already been answered, what was interesting enough for italics, and what did you make of Crusher's answer?

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? *wails*

Serious question because I haven't seen TOWNSETH come charging out and Eld's early posting still gives me the willies.

Heh. Willies.

Though ftr this bold certainty from Cuth is tone I've seen him use as Town.

because i would be extremely worried if i posted almost the exact same thing as a scum three times in a row

also there was one other post i noted as towny, have forgotten, will pull up if i'm in the area again and not if not

and tbh i liked eld's unvote lol, though your or seph's pointing out the potential reason of getting stranded on the end of the wagon is a point

I think it might be helpful to explain how I'm looking at things:

Scumhunting is the way Townies win.

Tone reading, lock clearing and deep meta comparisons are basically a waste of time.

Scumhunting consists of, among other things, spotting players who present circular arguments, determining when "logic" is self serving and connecting the dots where alliances are forming.

So far I have Eldrick down for ignoring common sense logic and presenting circular arguments.

Kizzy Clov is guilty of self serving, presenting circular arguments and going into full-tilt panic mode, despite the  vote count against them never going to L-1 (which is where the pressure point is, imo).

Both slots are working what I see as an alliance.

Both slots seem the obvious choices to lynch. I have thoughts on some other players, but none this defined.

It's that simple.

Kizzy Clov is my choice to lynch today and Eldrick is on my radar to sweat tomorrow.

@cuth can you explain what the problem you had with notbob? i didn't really see anything in his iso.

As for Hally, it's just a gut feeling.

1. Ignoring the first because it doesn't add anything new and we're getting nowhere. It's either a repeat of last game and we're butting heads because you say stuff I can't understand the thought process behind or you're scum.

2. Scum are just as likely to take a backseat as drive a mislynch D1 - perhaps moreso for the former because then they can get to pointing fingers for the mistakes on D2. Your answer neglects that possibility and I can't tell if that's deliberate or not. I didn't say Cuth looks better for it. IMO he looks better for consideration that encouraged further interaction. If they flip Town I think being first to back off is possibly more of a good thing and vice versa if they're scum.

3. Hint: it's always on my mind

4. Ok... Even if it's gut, I don't understand the logic behind it. See the end of point no. 1.

I did comment on the off play. That your feeling was misguided. I didn't comment on the vote because you said "your opinion hadn't changed" ergo I already commented on it.

In short, you first claimed suspicion toward them (Kizzy Clov slot) and then you reversed your opinion based on the argument that you've never seen a situation where so many people have agreed on a point (on D1 I believe) and not mislynched.

You flip-flopped. And that's fine when new information is the reason for the updated opinion, but that's not the case here - you've admitted to changing your mind based on the number of players that also saw post #309 as a scum-tell. That type of reasoning, in my opinion, bears a strong likelihood to a fellow scummer who was trying to present one image and then realized their mates were building a train faster than expected.

After you changed your opinion, you've been consistent in reminding people why - another flag for me.

And, both Lizbeth and MrsClov have chatted with you, favoring you and your logic, while all three of you have cast suspicion over Darthe.

We all adapt...some of us just expect what we get from you...I given up starting trains on you (too many here like seeing you at end game) but doubt I'd ever pass on joining one.

*headdesk*

This intro of MrsClov still bothers me. Lindz, what emotion prompted the question 'are you really doing this..?' I don't understand disbelief wrt Darthe and the 'after doing it in Sooh's Basic game as scum' is eeehhhhhh.

seph hasn't posted enough for you to be able to give a read on him?

Did I say that?

I don't remember enough. Memory is fickle. I tend to end up focusing on a few people at first.

Eldrick is pinging like crazy to me up to this point.  He feels off.

You're going to have to explain to me how he's more "off" now than in any other game. I haven't seen anything conclusive at this point.

What would be conclusive iyo, Sooh?

IMO there are random interjections that don't add opinion, ?deliberate circles and downplaying of ability/self here than last game which bothers me cos Arthurian. In your mind is that an alignment thing for Eld?

I did comment on the off play. That your feeling was misguided. I didn't comment on the vote because you said "your opinion hadn't changed" ergo I already commented on it.

I'm not sure what more you expected from me.

I was tired and missed you responding and I just flat out don't even.

@Dice

Why me for Tonto, Johnny Depp or otherwise?

@SEPHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Howdy, Stranger!

@The Crusher and @Spoof

I found it interesting that he tried saying Crush ignored him, when he didn't, and I liked Crush's answer.

Well, another thing that's interesting is that your explanation for why you used it changed now that Cass asked about it.

Ok, well if you're going to emphasize that one word I don't have a response to you. Sometimes I use words that are a bit bigger than they should be in context, so when you then ask me about that wording in particular I end up lost for words, because I didn't mean it that way at all.

She said that Eldrick was "pinging like crazy". What I meant to ask was in what way, since he hadn't pinged at all for me at that point. Then I chose the word "conclusive", which is a ridiculous word for early D1, because unless somebody is an innocent child or have accidentally slipped, nothing is conclusive.
