I think we're beginning to get into more subjective territory when we look at the treatment of Lan. Is it adapting is Rafe has completely changed Lan's personality because he felt like it? Is it adapting if Rafe completely changed Lan because he felt Lan's version of masculinity was 'wrong' or 'unpalatable to current social norms'?

 

 As much as I dont like the sensitive version of Lan, it is the other ways they are killing him that is driving me crazy. At least LET him be a warder and not some Aes Sedai errand boy.

 Just since the ways things that have bothered the F out of me...

 Moiraine walks into the ways alone.. no freaking way would a warder let their Aes Sedai walk into a place like the ways first Moiraine would know Lan would have a shit fit if she even attempted to go in first.

  Nynaeve scouting in front while Lan is making stupid bets with Moiraine in the middle.

 Lan asleep in the ways apparently, definitely not on the lookout for, you know, attacks by something like trollocs, machin shin, or any thing possibly lurking in the ways they are unfamiliar with...

 Lan not sensing the trolloc when it attacked.. Nope, Egwene (for some ridiculous reason) senses it first and is the first to jump up and respond. Lan is awakened by the noise, casually looks around to see where he is, gropes around for his sword, finally decides to get out of his nappy, Asks Moraine if she can spare a weave to warm up his night clothes, and then looks around confused and disoriented.

 that is just the "ways" I could seriously write pages of how they have ignored the entire reason of warders in just the first 7 episodes. AND NONE OF THOSE CHANGES MAKES THE SHOW BETTER.

 Let's see..

 Moiraine opens the ways.. Lan ducks in first to check it out while Moiraine finishes her little speech.

 Lan is out front "scouting".

Lan standing guard over the sleeping EF4 and Moiraine.

Lan shouts "Trolloc" and races across the "island" when Rand jumps up and blasts the trolloc.

 Not one of those would have added money, time, confusion to the shoot, it would have only made Lan look like he was competent, instead of the drooling idiot they have turned him into on the show.

 Consider Lan a secret service agent guarding the President. He would be a disgrace and fired for his lax protection.

 Yep, in the books Rand used the clean saidin from the eye to destroy the army, but I have a feeling that will not happen in the show. They will give that to a woman or women and Rand will be a token.

^ the real problem with "pov" who sees the channeling is they completely broke the rules in Ep 4 so everyone could see Logain channeling. That has confused a lot of the non-book readers I have talked to... why didnt we see him channeling when we saw the other guy channeling.. even Everyday Negros were really confused about that aspect.

 I have always said to the bafflement of my friends who aren't readers, especially not fantasy readers...

 I want my fantasy to be realistic.. yes I understand why that is confusing, but even fantasy has rules. You build a world and you create the rules, once you make a rule, you don't get to change it to fit a plot you cant figure out how to write properly.

 The person who said "I cant get enough of it" (including his wife), said that after ep.4. They both thought episode 5 was awful, then forgot to watch episode 6 until I reminded them. Ep.5 really was a crap episode for the most part.

 Of my non-book reader friends.. a few have quit watching, a couple are still watching but give an "eh" opinion of it, and a handful really like it, "I cant get enough of it".. overall pretty divided.

 That is interesting. As of right now she has no reason at all to go to the tower. What can the Aes Sedai teach SuperNyn? She is already more knowledgeable and more powerful than every Aes Sedai combined +1000.

 Why in the world would Rand want to train with an incompetent Aes Sedai errand boy? He should bring Tam back and let Tam teach him. Then Aes Sedai errand boy can run off with Nynaeve and continue his "I am a lover not a fighter" trope.

 yeah then why is he side eyeing Egwene every chance he gets from episode 1.. he didnt move on, he just took advantage of the girl who did love him to ease his pain. he is a coward.

Makes perfect sense to me.. When you go back and watch there are a lot of tells that Perrin is into Egwene. Then he has to go home to 2nd choice and pretend. Really lowers Perrins character, but I am getting used to all the men being lessened.

 When it had the scene of Rand crying (the first time), I heard in my head "Mr. Sensitive" and I burst out laughing.

 If it stays the same as in the books, Padan Fain brought the trollocs to Two Rivers so he had to have access to the ways to have brought them in the tv show.

 There were scenes I loved and some that I really disliked, but the good outweighed the bad,

 Even if you like the new sensitive Lan, you have to admit they have just done Lan dirty.

Every episode seems to add something to lessen Lan. This episode we start with Egwene somehow sensing a trolloc before Lan? Wasnt he on watch in the ways? Apparently he was sleeping soundly, had to take a few minutes to gather his wits, ask Moiraine to spare a weave to warm up his clothes, find where he left his sword and then join the action...

 Then we get to Fal Dara and other than a slight little nod of the head and a chest bump, Lan is basically unrecognized. Seriously? We couldnt get the book greeting? Not like they needed to throw a parade just everyone they passed give a Taishar salute.

 Now Moiraine leaves him behind?!

 Let's not be ridiculous. 10's of thousands of people could have killed his mother, it does not have to be Tam.

 he better freaking not... if Tam kills Rand's mother I am done with this series, point blank the end. Perrin killing his wife and Tam killing Rand's mother will be too much BS for me.

 The strained power of the eye was how Rand was able to destroy the Trolloc army that was about to descend upon the borderlands and then the world. Fal Dara knew they could not hold and was about to be overwhelmed, opening the doors to the rest of Randland.  Whomever prepared the eye must have known that was going to be the beginning of the DR and it would be needed.

 What is the... anyone who goes to the eye who is not the DR will die? Does that include her and Lan?

 Seems like another one of those changes that just complicates things for no real reason.
