I have softened a bit on this subject, even appreciating some of the changes. Things like aging up a bit were good decisions. Others left me puzzled, like changing waygates, changing Rands' scenes to Nynaeve, Nynaeve overall really.
The changes they made I found took away from things rather than added. Think they could of kept it more true to the books.

While I agree a lot of the travelling will need to be cut, it does have the unfortunate side effect of making the world seem much smaller than it is. You then run into the issues that the final seasons of GOT had where characters somehow impossibly travel from one side of the world to the other in a matter of hours.
I think a fair amount of that can be mitigated by having them look travel worn, and whining about the distance/travel conditions (which happens frequently in the books), using these opportunities to jump to a separate scene to give the illusion of travel time.

I think Perrin is still carrying dagger Layla gave Mat. Since we are dumping fantasy language for modern vernacular, Perrin can change from Young Bull to Knife Bro. Pure snark here btw.
Would that make him Longtooth in this iteration? May be the only reference to Elyas we get.

So far I am more watching it to hope that it improves. Fortunately because it is going so far afield from the books it seems to be getting more enjoyable on first watch. If I do any thinking on it though it becomes much worse. This is mostly because I cannot square the changes they made to the geography, magic rules, and just why they made such changes. Many seem to be almost haphazardly made while they could have more faithfully followed the book (particularly in the first few episodes) and had a much more solid product.
Take the opening on ep 1 with Liandrin and Co. It is fairly long and only provides world building in that Aes Sedai hunt male channellers for sport. I think the LTT prologue could have been done in the same time and actually done some world building.
They have a lot of work to do to get me to say it is a great series. That said I am probably going to rewatch this weekend to make sure I didn't miss a ton of stuff, but overall unimpressed (especially when they butchered my favourite scene which is the story of manetheren).

Just played State of Decay, pretty solid game

I would totally use it if the ones I wanted weren't demos

Just watched As Above So Below. Decent movie, lots of unused potential in my opinion

I can't remember how many non Aiel there where there, but from what I remember there where very low numbers so that may be a thing, not to mention they are way up north and gateway would be the way most of them get home.@durinax,
why would aiel forces stop and detain an unknown soldier returning home from
the fighting in shayol ghul?
-
the thing that really bothered me is that camp would be mostly Aiel since they where doing the bulk of the fighting there so how he got past them kind of bothers me. Although the whole losing your original body thing bothers me to begin with

Taint madness was probably still there, Nyn is the only one who can remove it among mortals (along with whoever she teaches). At the Black Tower, a number of Aes Sedia and Ashamen were forced to the Shadow.
the Aes Sedia, which happened?
-they still bound to the 3 Oaths
-they bound to different oaths
-they not bound to any oaths
the Ashamen, was taint-caused madness removed or did the madness remain?
The AS would have to remove old oaths. New oaths unknown if their the binding type, since we don't know the methods for channellers to pledge to the DO

is Bayle Domon a simple base born sailor? or does he have a hidden past. My allegations are based on the fact that he is completely comfortable with talking to nobility (especially Seanchan whom he had no idea who they where), is an able speaking coach (to Shipless), can identify cuenduellar with a short look at it NOT to mention that he identified it (accurately) as a seal. Just a bit of idle speculation while I was at work

On the subject of Prometheus I just assumed that it was a separate type of bio weapon, basically a different batch to see which one is the most capable. I actually quite liked that movie
Also just watched the newest Riddick movie, its alright they did a new pitch dark type thing. Could definitely been better.

How come neither Perrin or Gaul confess the killing at Remen?
probably because they both chalk it up to self defence (if its the one I am thinking of).

watched iron man 3 last night and it wasn't that great, seemed to cheapen the abilities of the suits throughout the movie.

Now you see me - very entertaining, but left me a bit puzzled at the end about the Eye

I think a big part of the problem is the cultural disconnect, especially in the role of advisors/teachers or anything like that.
A big part of it was that Elayne and co thought the advisor/teacher was a honoured position, whereas obviously the sea folk thought it was a low ranking or terrible rank.
Which, let's be honest, isn't a very realistic outlook. What kind of culture regards being a teacher as being just short of a deckhand, and actually seems to find it shaming?
true, but I think the girls thought the advisor roles to be much more positive and honoured like their roles as advisors on land. Which if it where the same would have totally changed the value of the deal.

what atrocities of rands are you referring too?

Something tickles the back of my mind about one of the books mentioning power forged weapons in the past having other abilities, but I can't put my finger on it.
First book when Rand has channelling sickness at an inn (after being separated) a woman attacks them with a blade that burned whatever it was stuck in

Few points that other people have mentioned that I want to comment on
1. Tied off gateways: didn't RJ retconn them and pretend like it wasn't possible?
2. Sharan male channelers: men who can learn are not treated like animals. If most people from the BT are learners, why can the sharan men not be learners trained by demandred and westerners?
3. Numbers being off: I place more blame on team Jordan for letting this happen. It is not just RJ's legacy, but it is something they have worked on for so long that they should have cared more and noticed these things.
3a. It is better if you pretend that the missing people wiped each other out early on. It also explains how the seanchan took over in Avi's vision; everyone paid the butcher's bill except them
2) Actually, did they expand upon that? I was lead to believe that all men born in those channeler towns are treated like animals, but sure there are men born outside the town who can channeler, sparker or non sparker, but that's assuming Demandred had time to go testing. Sure, Taim could have done it but that's getting to a stretch now. He was able to send scouting parties to a hostile country? One where they kill and enslave outsiders?
I don't think they are treated like animals, afterall they ayyad are the ruling class, that includes men. It is just that they are executed at first sign of insanity I believe

I was a bit upset by a lack of df betrayals, I think if they made the shadows overall armies weaker, yet had some darkfriends in the mix to kind of spice it up would have been much better.
Also on a side note was both the Sa angreal Taim had and the Sa angreal egwene lost?

Really, that is surprising since they missed him introduction. Not sure how they will manage to do it now.
