I very much dislike her;
although her low point for me was post battle for cairhein when she dresses down Nyn in TAR for wandering about TAR (which she was doing, except she gave her word that she wouldn't) and then is happy, and even giddy that her bullying of Nyn worked.
as for her arrogence, post Seachean attack on the tower the quote where she says "I was a hero of the horn, called forth to defeat our enemies" (paraphrased) irritated me like something stuck in my teeth that I couldnt get rid of.
but its her hypocracy on such a grand scale that is the worst. Especailly with the deal of her blackmailing sisters into giving her oaths (binding by the 'tell no word that is not true' oath) and then condemns Elaida for thinking there should be an oath to make AS subservient to the Amyrlin (equally as binding)

Not sure if this has been asked yet. But does anyone think its possible for perrin and rand to make a hand of onyx with the OP and attach it to rands stump. It would complete that prophecy
in my opinion this goes with the callandor bit that min dug up about the user of callandor at shayol ghul, the "all he is can be seized" bit.
I think that the hand is the DO seizing rands soul, but alas it will do nothing for the DO since Rand will be linked with two women and one of the women will have control of the circle

You wouldn't need to hold the Source, but you would need to be able to. In a stedding you couldn't hold the Power, so you couldn't sense if someone was a channeler there. Outside of a stedding, a woman could sense another woman's ability to channel with neither of them holding the Source.
Is there a source for this? I just don't remember reading this anywhere and was wondering where you got it from.
My impressions are similar, in that a channeler doesn't need to hold the source to detect one's ability to channel, but I am wondering about that second part.
BWBOgier stedding seem to be shielded in some unknown way that completely prevents the One Power from being channeled, or even sensed, within their boundaries; attempts to wield the One Power from outside a stedding have no effect inside it.
I didn't take this assumption. Not being able to sense the power (as if it didn't exist at all) is not the same as sensing someone's (woman to woman) ability or capacity to hold and channel the power. Otherwise the AS wouldn't be able to sense girls with the potential to become AS until after they channelled. Cadsuane is another example of this, I do assume that she was found in Far Madding (a Stedding for all intents and purposes - minus the trees and Ogier of course) by an AS before she could channel, she is never referred to as a wilder.
I believe that Cadsuane went to TV on her own, to be tested
-
Are you sure that you need to be able to sense the Source in order to tell if somebody else can channel?
I think this is an inferred assumption, based on the fact that only channellers can sense other channellers and that in a stedding everyone is essentially a nonchanneller (the only reason that channellers hate stedding is because they feel cravings towards the Source and cannot feel it.)

I think its too early to know whether or not halima put compulsion on egwene, it could be something more against rand than anything an with the very limited interaction between the two of them it could be possible yet

moraine knew, or she learned soon after. remember in the stone where moraine tells thom his life story?
-
uhm the topless towers are named that becasue their reconstruction isnt finished since the Aiel burned them

Siuan thought of Rand as "Al'Thor" because it was a formal thing, but Egwene sees the uncertain teenager she was close friends with, and still calls him "Rand." Something admirable, I think, because she perceives his thoughts as those of her troubled friend, not a powerful political leader.
actually during rereads every so often Egwene refers to him as Al'thor

It's been said (I think by Egwene, or at least some Aes Sedai...) that two people skimming, even to the same location, can not see each other. So why was Rand able to see Asmodean when he was going to Rhuidean to get the Choedan Kahl? Can men see each other skimming, or were they not skimming at all? Did I just misread it? :X
I wonder if rand skimmed from the same spot to the same spot could see each other

Agriculture really does go to the heart of what makes us civilized. I can understand his reasoning easily enough.
Agriculture is the foundation for society and economy. Nomads are the only people who do not have an agricultural foundation, and they cannot advance in any meaningful way due to the sheer amount of effort being put into finding food.

"I mean first off Ishamael, the greatest of the Forsaken, is humbled by Lews Therin in the Hall of Servants and then specifically defeated by the Dragon at the gates of Paaran Disen, how could Aginor have done so much better without Lews Therin being at some unknown disadvantage?" you said.
We don't know enough to say what this "humbling" was. I don't think it will have been Lews Therin simply walking all over him, but rather any defeat for men of their power and ego would be viewed as a humbling no?
I would almost guess that would be when Ishy openly declared in the hall of servents, maybe LTT humbled him in debate, which would be a huge hit to a philosopher like ishy

Do we have any evidence of Egwene working to get the 1/3 of the sisters who split off during the 'troubles' to come back to the tower?
I don't think there was much need, most of them would have come back on their own since they only stayed out of the matter because they didn't want to take sides during the split.
I think there is, if the AS dont actively look to bring these AS 'home' then they may just chill out in nowhere until the end of times. After all they are trying to keep all the rumors as low as possible.... actually rand may bring many of them back with his proclamation about the WT situation changing, I didnt think of that last post

Was Perrin ignorant as to the Whitecloaks and their reputation? Did he know who the Whitecloaks were but not know that these guys were Whitecloaks?
I think he new at least something about their reputation.Rand knows about it in Baerlon. And Perrin felt a bad smell coming from them.
He also definitely knew these were WC in the forest.
Perrins only interactions with any WC's was when they tried to leave baerlon. when they tried to stop moraine from leaving
Perrin was also coming out of the hiding spot when he did the big surprise attack, in peace until he attacked.
-
Regardless of Perrin's insanity or not, he was being accosted by a foreign military group, one that was pretty well known for kidnapping people, holding kangaroo courts regarding their darkfriend status, and oftentimes accompanied with torture and execution. I don't think it's a far stretch to believe that someone would believe they would need to resort to extreme force in order to protect themselves.
If someone living in the southern part of the US finds themselves being accosted by members of a Mexican Drug Cartel, known for kidnapping and executing people who interfere, or are even merely accused of interfering, with the drug cartel's operations, and that person defends themselves with force and kills one or more members of the cartel, would they be guilty of murder by US laws if it takes place on US soil?
yes but your conveniently avoiding the fact that Perrin knew nothing about teh WC's! that is why no matter what it dont matter, he was unprovoked in attack. if your hiding out in the dark, and a group of people ask you to come out repeatedly, then jump out and attack them your in the wrong no matter what
-
hybrid - I don't understand how you can say, when perrin is captured by WC they will kill as DF, but he shouldn't lash out in an unprovoked attack?!
His most effective method of self-defense is to surprise attack the murderers and try to kill them all before they are get a chance to kill Perrin.
if your the one attacking how is it self defence?

If Taim is a Darkfriend, which he almost certainly is, is he using a form of compulsion to gain his 'faction'? I find it hard to believe that multiple hundrends of Darkfriend channelers would randomly appear.
well he is specifically seeking those with a darker disposition

Some acquaintences of mine --- Aes Sedai who have retired from the world --- are testing them trying to discover their weakness." they also had callandor
any idea who that is? this is a direct quote from cadsuane

Can rand see a difference between people who are force turned or voluntarily turned?

how is perrins situation literally the equivialent of a black man being surrounded by KKK members?
Both are extremist groups prone to resorting to violence for their ideologies, which are downright horrid themselves.Oh, not originally for the WC, but in the end it amounted to catch -> torture -> kill.
except perrin does not know such a thing at the time of the murder. Plus perrin does not have his golden eyes which mark him out to teh WC that he is shadowspawn, thus they likely would not have hurt him unless he did waht he did.
You are assuming rational reason from a group that doesn't have one. It's like the inquisition, they decide you are a DF, you burn.
no I am saying that. I am saying that there was nothing to mark him as anything but a youth, sure he was in an odd location, but he would have been taken to bornhald who we where shown was a reasonable man

For all perrin knew the WC's are a police force, hunting bandits in the area

how is perrins situation literally the equivialent of a black man being surrounded by KKK members? your comparison makes no sense. and even though I am white I find it in very poor taste to make such a comparison
-
If im not mistaken, with the whole Hopper attacked first thing, I believe the whitecloaks attacked the wolves as they were trying to escape.
wolves attacked first, the WC started patrols to find out who else was in the area after finding elyas fire, then the wolves started biting at teh horses legs in an effort to scare them back to the fire. In either case it is inadmissable due to wolves being considered animals by general consensus

I think thorgan is thinking there have been multiple dragon souls, and that every time one gets corrupted and turns to the DO that the pattern will choose a new champion. I dont think that that would be true

in my head I painted it as a seven sided building, with two wings on the bottom.
I just always went with 7 sided due to the ajahs, and everyone knows the ogier vs AS. Bossy women would win
