I really like that they had Perrin just instinctively know what Rand would do. Those kinds of moments are so important to show the bond between the Two River boys, need to see more of them.
The job of the EF5 actors has been absolutely incredible, especially in their interactions with each other. They've done such a great job of making me feel like I'm watching a real group of friends. I've been completely blown away by all of them

Ok rewatched the episode with my full attention, some random thoughts
- Finally see Nynaeve acting irrationally from anger, attempting to kill Lan. Loved it
- Absolutely loving Mat. "That's not how roads work" "think she'd be up for that". I said in my premiere reactions that I wasn't thrilled with the elder Cauthons backstory and I stand by that, but it really has given his early books tendency to want treasure/money a good reason: he wants to provide for his sisters. Nice to see that dagger-induced paranoia starting to set in, too
- Dana was a stand out for me. Always fun to see Darkfriends scheming. "Was it the hair" me: "oh shit"
- Speaking of surprising standouts, Aram! Really liked him here, excited to see more from him (thing I never said reading the books)
- "If I wanted a man I could do better than Mat" psh, no you couldn't Rand, hush
- Thom. Hmm. I liked some of it, but I want to see more. Need to see some story telling and happier songs before I pass judgment.
- Aiel info! Good opportunity, and also we get our "why are Aiel in the Wetlands" plot line early
- Rand absolutely channeled there, yeah? To break down the door? Excited to see "feverish from touching the Source" next week
- Liandrin and Logain! Very cool. I like that we see a contingent of greens and reds in that party, makes sense they'd work together to fight an army led by a male channeler
Think that's it for this episode. I liked it! Pacing felt good which is impressive with our party split in three. Definitely excited for next week

A nice parents review for anyone that's not sure if this will be OK for their kids. This is the Episode 1 video but he has also posted one for Episode 2 as well. I expect an Episode 3 video later as well

I actually liked the pacing of episode 2 better than episode 1. Seem to be in the minority in that which is fine! Little things I missed from my first viewing:
- The shadow that moves to lure Mat to the dagger. Hi Mordeth!
- Mashadar. Couldn't see it really in the theater (we were the first row, terrible angle) but it definitely looked a lot better on the TV screen
-
Things I'd missed or wasn't sure of in my early viewing that I caught this time:
- The dead sheep in the shape of the Dragon's fang. Awesome
- I didn't notice there were 2 Trollocs in the scene with Perrin and his wife which makes what happens a bit more understandable in terms of why he swung.
- Fain just swaggering away with a grin on his face. Perfect.

We can live with that kind of stuff as long as it is neither gratuitous nor sexual in nature. I thought I recalled Rafe making some comment about “pillow friends out the wazzoo” and I’d sure like to know what he means by that. If they’re going down the GOT avenue, then I don’t want to get my kids started on this. Tough call. Any more input would be appreciated.
Rumor, and I can't confirm this but I will put in spoilers anyway, is that
SpoilerMoiraine and Siuan are in a relationship still
But I don't think anything explicit should be expected

My fiance and I just rewatched S1 of The Witcher this week to both kill time and prep for S2 which I think drops the same week as Episode 7 of WoT? Anyway, The Witcher is super confusing on a first watch but it all pulls together decently well by the end. So I'm not surprised that initial reviews weren't very positive.
3 hours to go before everyone can decide for themselves!

Unless they really ramp things up beyond what's in the first 2 episodes I think (!) you'll be ok. Possible you might get some brief frontal nudity at points I guess, especially in future seasons (Aes Sedai customs, sweat tents, etc) but I don't think there will be any of that in this season, at least.

How do your curated group of reviews feel about WoT?!?!
Sadly they're all movie reviewers primarily and none have posted or uploaded about WoT yet. I was going to watch this no matter what so it's kind of a moot point haha

I don't even bother reading reviews anymore. There are so many shows/movies that I loved that got trashed by reviews and others that I hated that got praised by them.
I've curated a group of reviewers whose tastes tend to overlap mine. If most of them like it, I definitely will. If only some of them do I probably will. If none of them do...

Working till close to 6 pm, then making dinner and watching with my fiance. Not sure if we'll skip straight to Ep 3 or rewatch the first 2... ok I lied, we're definitely going to rewatch the first 2 ?

Also (Spoiler box in case you don't want to know about the episode 7 title and description that leaked)
SpoilerThe Dark Along The Ways episode description indicates that the identity of the Dragon Reborn will be revealed (at least to the audience).
And pretty much every review, either good, middling or bad, say that episode 6 is by far the best. I expect the season to close out on a bang

Since I saw the clip in context first it's hard for me to judge, but I did find the Winespring Inn entrance flowed better in the show than it did as just a clip so that could be the case here for people, too. This was not one of the scenes I found "mrgh" (very official evaluation here) from the first episode, but ymmv!

My stand by was take em to the zoo, get funnel cake from snack stand on way out, then 30 minute car ride home. I could often watch an entire college football game while they napped. My wife never figured why they would always nap Saturday afternoon for me and not for her.
I'm taking notes for my future!

Is it illustrating it, if Nynaeve is saying it’s because she was poor and had poor clothes? I think it’s bad writing unless the Aes Sedai misled the wisdom and made her think it was because she was poor.
Maybe! This is the only solo conversation the two have had that we've seen. Maybe future conversations will inform us one way or the other.

Just to follow up on the above re: Mat, it is super super clear in the episode what the family relationships are.
SpoilerMat refers to his mom as his mom, and when he brings her back to the house and she falls over drunk, his sisters ask "is mom sick again?" He also asks both his parents, clearly identified as such, "where are the girls" when they're missing on Winternight
I would be mortified if I made that sort of error in a professional capacity

There was some speculation that Moiraine might think Nynaeve is the Dragon Reborn. And here we see Moiraine investigating that possibility. Knowing what we know, and based on the dialogue here in Moiraine probing for Nynaeve's age, Moiraine should easily figure out Nynaeve is too old. But she wouldn't have known that before this interview, which is presumably before Winternight.
If you don't mind knowing answer below:
SpoilerIt is indeed before Winternight, early in Episode 1
Perrin and Laila

I'm just excited that we're getting to play "is this character a Darkfriend" again. Giving me some real nostalgia ?
