  1. So something entirely subjective? I get that you don’t like the show. But just because you think it’s not an adaptation, doesn’t mean that it isn’t one.
  2. So? Is there some rule that adaptations can’t do these things?
  3. What does this statement by Rafe have to do with whether the TV show is an adaptation or not?
  4. “Train wrecks?” Come on, man.
  5. The healing power creep is the biggest problem for me. It's tricky, but you have to keep the stakes high.
  6. It depends on the story you’re trying to tell.
  7. Poor example. There are statistics and measurable metrics by which soccer players can be rated and compared. No such metrics exist for art.
  8. A few seconds. Which is basically how long they waited in the show.
  9. Really? For me, the idea that a person I’ve known for decades was a secret homicidal devil worshipper would take me a few moments to process.
  10. Exactly. My wife wanted to watch Episode 1 (even though I'd already seen it) and we waited to watch until she got home from work and we ate. Started around 6:30 pacific and ended around 10:30, then went to bed. I still need to watch E2 and E3 again and I have to work.
  11. Hard to draw any conclusions in the first 24 hours. People are still watching. Some still waiting to watch. Some wanting to watch again before dipping in. And many have shifted away to other forms of media over the last 3-4 years.
  12. This doesn't happen here. Sorry, it just doesn't. Nobody gets kicked here for being critical. People are freely permitted to criticize the show provided that criticism is grounded in something more than name calling.
  13. That was a fun clip! I really enjoyed
  14. You said what you said. You have since clarified your intent when saying it. I'm not going to apologize for misinterpreting something that was easily misinterpreted. I've given you examples of things that break actions scenes for me. I didn't like Alanna's flip. I didn't like the slow motion, old West showdown style shot. Moving past that particular scene, I've been critical of the silly battle scenes in both of the finales. Moving the lens back, things like the Dothraki fire sword charge bother me because of the very, very, very obvious futility of it. And I tend to agree with you that they are playing fast and loose with healing.
  15. Correct. I think many of the things you deem to be “problems” are the types of things that are common to all action/sci-fi/fantasy and, therefore, not problems at all. I will not.
  16. You admit that I will honestly point out legitimate criticisms. I am very upfront about my dislike of some of the writing and many of the creative choices. Also defending the show is different from being an apologist. But you know that.
  17. Literally a few hours ago you were praising me for not being an apologist.
  18. How on earth would you know that? Are you a master of fantasy architecture too? And would you be keen to destroy your home? Would that be your first thought? Maybe they didn’t understand what exactly she was doing. Maybe none of them are good with Earth. Maybe the underestimated how fast she could do it. Or maybe it was just a fun little television scene that we don’t need to analyze like it’s some sort of calculus problem. This kind of nitpickery absolutely exhausts me.
  19. Right. Except that you would potentially damage the structural integrity of the entire floor and take fall damage yourself.
  20. Perhaps there are floors beneath the Hall? I thought you were super logical about these things?
  21. Alanna’s attack went under the ground. How would they “shield” that?
