Dang. Sorry this is happening to you @CaddySedai  And thanks for the heads up.

    Thanks.

As I said I hate to kinda flame a merchandise partner because I desperately want more merch to come out but its just such a shock to the system to have a company ghost you.

They do allow for refunds up through shipping so its not like I fear the financial part of this. They are at no risk of going out of business so its nothing like that. I fully plan to ride this preorder train to the station.

I just wish they would like, post something to let us know where the bottleneck is, where the fix is at, and when they truly project the finish line to be. That way we are not in the dark.

  2. So I'm not really sure why Amazon decided to roll with a collectible sword maker to also allowing them to create jewelry which, to the best of my knowledge, they had no prior experience with.

They probably should have stuck with Badali at this point but good news on that front is they let them bring back the silver classic Great Serpent ring and Badali seems hopeful they can get Amazon to roll with a full "classics" re-release. So that's lit.

That said, we find ourselves with having Jalic Blades (aka Valyrian Steel) putting out the first TV show ring.

I am willing to work with them when they are tooling to do something they have never done. Delays and growing pains were inevitable. That said my concern lies in their just terrible unresponsive and frankly non existent communication from a customer service perspective.

Preorders opened August 28, with a expected delivery date in late October. Now one goes into preorders knowing full well that timeframes slip. I have a Kickstarter finally delivering in 2023 that was supposed to be completed in early 2021 - that's fine. They keep us abreast of the problems and issues and development update, and the end is in sight finally (it is Firmament, a game by the makers of MYST).

That said, the preorders slipped from October to November, and now November to December. Again, this would not be an issue if they were a responsive company and maybe, call me crazy for even thinking this, letting preorders know that the timeframe has slipped. Instead one has to go onto the site, click into the ring as if wishing to buy it, and see the updated preorder expectation. This, is stupid. This also was never communicated and one wandered into it by accident. And the only communication was a facebook post saying "its taking us a bit longer than expected" followed by posts wondering how their followers liked House of the Dragon. It's just, bewilderingly unprofessional, and forget trying to communicate with them via their website "questions about your order" option cuz apparently that inbox isn't even monitored lol.

I have no doubt they will come through, I actually have some of their blades and until now have never experienced an issue. But if you are interested in getting a Great Serpent Ring I would suggest you wait until they get their extremely delayed preorder situation handled.

And that maybe in the future Amazon pick partners who have experience in the industry they hope to produce goods in.

I am probably the biggest (imho) antagonist of the show on this site, and not once was I threatened with any kind of discipline over what I have said.

Ooooh, shoot I totally forgot back then that I'm absolutely threatening you with having to do lines *nods* A little late but hey, respect my authori-tay

tldr: sowing seeds of divisiveness through pop culture, helps amplify divisiveness on a national level... Either way this has gone pretty far off topic. Given that this starts to delve into politics, these conversations are best had in PMs.

Well, Since DM is owned by Jason Denzel, and he made me an Admin, it's not a problem for me. I get to be the Arbitrator of what is valid and what is not. 😉

Valid Criticism = Not complaining about woke casting, or any derivative of wokeness. Not using all caps. Not using terms like "rolling in the grave", or "spitting on my childhood". Those kinds of "criticims" are sensationalist. They aren't in it to have a conversation. They remind me of "listening to your uncle at thanksgiving whine about politics".

The problem is that SD is always spitting on my childhood and Jordan would be rolling in his grave when he found out just how much SD refuses to admit that the pen is blue…..

    😛

The First half, I was going to reply with something similar but then yep. Nailed it.

There was a meme going around about how people used to think RJ was pessimistic about society because of how little people worked together to defeat the Dark One in the 3rd age.
But then Covid happened and we realized he was optimistic.

Ahem I played my part with my "within 6 foot" dodgeball.

@Elgee It’s just a name I came up with long ago that I would name a sailboat if I had one lol. The Marmaloot

Way better dream than I had.

I wanted to open a bar called the Drunken Seaman.

    For the double entendre lol.

Or is that a triple entendre...

    Either way...boat bar lol.

So I’m new here. I’m almost done with the final book in the series and I’m kinda sad. This has been an amazing journey and I can’t believe it’s almost over. I love this story so much.

Its never quite over. You can always come here and partake in discussions about the books, or the series. You can meet like minded ppl in the clubs.

And you can do what I do and reread the books but only from a single character.

I recently just read only scenes with Rand in them. lol.

  8. Egwene's ascension being the reason to stop reading the books for any time is a weird hill to die on.

I could name a hundred more puzzlers lol. I just accepted it as relationship proximity to ta'veren (RPM). Honestly the whole schism plotline was a slog. And this is coming from someone who adores the three popes era of the Catholic church lol.

Casting for elves is difficult because while they seem to grow in some type of aura and maturity they are immortal and should have no signs of age (physical deterioration) in the way humans do. But you can't just cast 20 to 35 year olds.

Tiz why you should cast older - and de-age them digitally.

The process already has a bit of uncanny valley look to them... like something isn't QUITE right. Which is how I feel "ageless" would seem to people who do age. lol

Dwarves mined the mithril. Due to its rarity, makes sense they would keep it all to work as they saw fit

Actually back before it became uber rare they sold some to other races to be worked. The Noldor used mithril to create the alloy ithildin and decorated using that.

the ring of power Nenya was also forged of mithril by the elves.

But this is getting off topic. Ultimately I think if ROP does well it might have a stack on effect for WOT. People looking for more fantasy.

  11. Point of order, the elves probably did not make the mithril shirt that Bilbo and Frodo wore.

Thats the work of the dwarves (most armor tended to be, other things like rings and decorative arches were made by others) and they would appreciate you not attributing that to the fairer folk. While it may have been made for an elvish prince, the hands that wrought it were likely not.

    Hehe.

Just now, I went to the episode on the site, and when I click "write a review" it brings me to the bottom of the page with no option to actually write a review.

Obviously the number of reviews you mentioned were from Rotten Tomatoes, but I figured I'd mention that the system is borked on Amazon's side.

Not Borked, turns out Amazon is throttling its reviews. They say they are doing this with all their shows now to prevent review bombing lol

On the one hand, I’d love that, but on the other, I know like everything canon about the AoL and it would kill me to see something not make sense.

The AoL framework is not as fleshed out as the Third Age. There is a ton more room. And in a game setting its easier to work a player character in there and have them be relevant to the world - versus our Age where you'd break a ton of things by introducing an all powerful character. Thats why Jordan allowed the WoT game to be a PSW. Cuz the story totally breaks lore lol.

And if it should be post breaking there is still a mountain of wiggle room before rand. I mean the Third Age did span 3500 years.

Im sure we can put a game in there somewhere haha.
