  1. Welcome to the Chocolate Delivery Service!

How does this work, you ask?

To send someone some chocolates and good wishes, simply PM me and I will post the deliveries in this thread. All deliveries can be tailor made - but will be anonymous unless you tell me.

So, in your PM let me know if you want to include a specific message or chocolate for the person and link it to me in the PM or I’ll be happy to find some chocolate sweets for you.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday so I’ll start the deliveries later on tonight, or at the latest, tomorrow AM.

Will do! Definitely not expecting it to be as bad as it was last year based on what they are projecting, but prepared in case. We were incredibly fortunate the only power outage we had was one of the planned rolling ones.

it has to be awfully hard to be in a freezing place with no power. Do you guys have a fire place or pellet stove?

Without even going into whether it's a good change or not, it was executed laughably poorly. They were openly weeping in full sight of the Hall while Moiraine was given a "punishment" that allowed her to continue doing her stuff outside of the Tower, which was what Liandrin used to get her into trouble in the first place. Anyone with half a brain would have immediately called out on it, especially given the Aes Sedai's propensity to bicker.

There were also so many easy ways to get out of the "pressure" put up by Liandrin. It was framed as though there was some political masterclass going on there with the characters, but it was in fact written more like an episode of Mean Girls than anything else.

Liandrin: Her purpose - the purpose of all Blues, is to gather secrets and discover danger before it strikes at the heart of us, before it strikes at you, Mother. But Trollocs invaded from the west, and Logain's army swelled from the south without even a warning from Moiraine. Why?

Moiraine: Yo. I was following rumours of ta'veren (may as well make that one-liner relevant again) and brought back the most powerful channeller in a thousand years, without whom all of us, you included, would have been dead. I suspected that she might have potential but she had no training and could not channel as far as I knew then. She would be a great asset under the Tower, instead of a dangerous wilder. In the two years since I left, I travelled from Tear to the Two Rivers and many towns in between. Neither of which are in the same general direction as Ghaeldan or "the west". Also, Logain and his army sounds like Red Ajah business, where were the warnings from you lot?

    Two years? Wasn’t it 20?

Is anyone else interested in how the oath that Moiraine swore directly to Siuan is going to effect things down the line? I can't shake the feeling that this is going to be significant for the Tower of Ghenjei storyline and that Siuan will be joining the rescue.

They did say they're adapting the full series not book to book so it's possible this little seedling is as important as I think it is for Moiraine's internment in another dimension and eventual rescue....

I was really confused about that scene with the oath rod. I’m sure it will come into play somewhere down the road.

I'm absolutely gutted they stopped Badali from selling the original rings, I have a silver one but would have loved a proper gold one.

Another of the casualties of this production is the original official merchandise and artwork that got stopped from production.  I managed to get myself a couple of the Tar Valon marks and some prints before the deadline.

They definitely missed a trick cutting the shawls, if they had been included and done well I can see they would have sold well.

I have a green shawl and an old Aes Sedai ring.

  6. I just finished getting all of the WoT on audible!

I’m currently reading The 2nd book (The Fell Sword) in “The Traitor Son Cycle” by Miles Cameron. You have to pay attention while reading them. It’s very good and I think you would like it, James.

Miles Cameron weaves an epic tale of magic and mercenaries, war and depravity, politics and intrigue in this action-packed fantasy.

I thought it was a trilogy but there are two more books!

Critical thinking is great. There's a difference between having a critical discussion of works of art and:

    •  berating the creators (you can dislike the work or aspects of it without personal attacks or low blows)
    •  calling others in the forum shills for Amazon for expressing their enjoyment of the show
    •  repeatedly pushing ideas of "agendas" or gender-bias tainting the show process (that's fine if that's your opinion, but others can feel how they want to as well)
    •  reviving dead arguments that have already been discussed repeatedly (disagreements that ultimately have no final judgement anyway, like the point above)
    •  insisting there is only one way to interpret the show/story/acting/character arcs/etc.
    •  makings arguments that amount to "this show is doomed" without any additional critique
    •  Making comments like "90% of book readers hate the show" (I love the show and the books and think there is a synergy between the two and I don't like being used as a pawn in arguments like this)
    •  Acting like the television show will ruin the legacy of RJs great epic. It won't.
    • etc. etc. etc.
    • (and some of these points might bother some more than others)

I don't want to dissuade others from participating in any discussion, but I also don't think we need to tolerate dead end comments that provide no sustenance for the conversation and sometimes can be downright insulting. I've even created another thread to discuss the show with the explicit request to avoid behavior like I outlined above because it's such a rampant problem right now.

Surely we are not alone in feeling this way?

You are taking this way beyond the original discussion.

I was only responding to this statement and this alone.

“So basically a buncha y'all don't have the right kinds of brains and imagination to have fun with this and you're mad at the happy people about it. Heckin ridiculous.”

That poster clearly stated that those who didn’t agree with her did not “have the right kinds of brains…”

Please don’t meander off in other directions, distant from the original response. It’s not helpful.

I will say nothing further on this. I’ve made my point that insults don’t add to productive discussion.

Not at all. But a mature discussion does not involve  one side talking about a variety of things and the other side coming in and just going "No . Wrong. Bad. Hate. How can you possibly be having any fun at all?" I'm not wrong because I like the show. It is obviously subjective.

I like a lot about the show. I love parts of it. I cringed at Moiraine having a tell. That was dumb.

A “mature discussion” doesn’t involve this either.

But a lot of people are definitely making predictions and having fun. It isn't impossible, obviously.  As to how, I just use my IMAGINATION  and also my BRAIN. It isn't hard.

The problem is so many come in here with negative opinions and treat other people like poop if they have positive opinions.

So basically a buncha y'all don't have the right kinds of brains and imagination to have fun with this and you're mad at the happy people about it. Heckin ridiculous.

Just make a thread called "people who are not happy with the show vent here" and let the rest of us have fun?

I am trying to hard to have some heckin FUN.

What? Discussions on the show should only include people that agree with you?

Having a brain includes the ability to think critically.

Oh those look delicious! I love fresh fish. I hope something wonderful is being made with them. ?

Does anyone have fun plans for New Years? We have friends coming over (one family) for geeky board games and food. ?

We are going out to dinner with my youngest son and his girlfriend. Then they are going to hang at their house with some friends. We are going back home for movies and drinks. We were supposed to have another couple join us but they are sick with colds. We have a standing date with then for dinner and a movie on New Year’s Eve.

I love board games! I’ll post later about the new games I’ve gotten. I’m going to start hosting a game group.
