Back to the middle we go Story Update – Day 14, Late Morning Location: Verdant Hollow – Central Heartroot Chamber Status: HP: 26 / 26 | EP: 14 / 19 | Earth: 7 | Spirit: 10 The shimmering vision of the past fades. The Memory of the Seed Trial—its ancient lesson and buried truth—settles into your spirit like fertile soil accepting rain. You stand once more in the central Heartroot Chamber of the Verdant Hollow. The totem of the Seed behind you glows with steady, living light, its green essence now fully awakened. You feel it thrumming in harmony with your Codex. Nyra drifts down from a carved root arch, her wings stirring the air like soft leaves in a breeze. “One memory restored,” she says, her voice quiet. “But the Hollow holds more.” Across the chamber, two unlit totems remain: The Memory of the Stone, its pillar rough-hewn and deeply scarred by time. A stillness radiates from it—stubborn, unmoving, enduring. The Memory of the Root, coiled and tangled with ancient vines. Its surface pulses faintly, as though something slumbers within it, waiting to be stirred. The Codex stirs at your side, its arcane circuits weaving new pathways in anticipation. Memory of the Seed – Complete. +1 Earth Affinity (Earth Level now 7) You gain Verdant Resonance – Seedbound (Passive): Regenerate 1 EP at the start of every combat round while standing on natural terrain Gain new spell: Verdant Grasp (1 EP): Vines erupt in a small radius, entangling foes (Earth + Spirit scaling) What would you like to do next? She nods, not quite meeting your eyes. “There’s always one who stays behind,” she murmurs. “Sometimes to guard. Sometimes because they’re too afraid to leave.” She flutters down beside you, her wings rustling like wind through dry leaves. “Whatever the Hollow buried… it wasn’t just stone. That sorrow was real. Living. Still awake.” She narrows her bright, ember-ringed eyes. “And it doesn’t want to be forgotten.” You feel the Codex warm at her words—resonating faintly with the memory echo. New Insight: The “one beneath” may be a sentient force or guardian still tied to the Verdant Hollow’s core. It may be worth exploring further if accessible. Your awareness sinks into the stone floor, deeper into the roots and memories that bind the Verdant Hollow. You do not see visions, but feel them: A promise etched in quiet soil: to protect even when forgotten. The weight of sacrifice, heavy but unyielding. A brief glimmer of kinship—not just to the Hollow, but to others who have borne elemental burdens before you. And a final whisper: “There is still one who waits beneath. Buried not by earth, but by guilt.” The pulse fades, leaving a still warmth within your chest. You feel more connected to the Hollow now—not as a visitor, but as someone who belongs.
