I am in awe of the amount of time, effort, planning and money this project took to complete.  Great job guys.  I look forward to reading the interview!

A nice effort with limited means.

One problem

1 chapter > 20 minutes

53 chapters > 1000 minutes (~17 hours)

The problem I see about adapting tWoT into films or tv series is the length. They would summarize way too much, and 60% of WoT's value (imo) comes from how well explained and how detailed everything is, and how amazingly everything gets tied together (random example: hints in first part of book one, well interpreted can reveal what happens in book 10 with neat precision).

That wouldn't work well made into a summarized show.

I would love to see tWoT in the big screen, but not if that means lowering the quality of the series.

That said, I think this fans made an amazing effort and it really came out pretty neatly.

See i dont see that as an issue.  This being a TV series could go on forever and I would love it!  Get the plots and richness of Jordon's world and Id be a mindless slave to the show and give tons of money :)

A nice effort with limited means.

I loved it! It's a shame that the cape of the Myrddraal moved in the wind, ( ;-) ) but I love the way he looks. Like a human, but at the same time not human-like.

Something I liked: I never thought they would be able to do the channeling believable (at least for the readers) but I really like how they did it and it is close to what I thought it would be!

Please complete the series! :)

Very cool.  I'm fine with 1000 hours for each book!  Too bad Mat doesn't get the hat for a few more books...

Yea I thought it was good fun and would love to see more

What they should do is make the first 2 or 3 chapters in to one episode to start things off

Then make it an hour episode series which will be amazing so around 14 episodes each season

I don't know, it's cool to see the Wheel of Time in film, but from a movie-watching standpoint this particular video was rather bland. The acting was generally overdone, the cinematography was tremendously cliche... and what I found most frustrating was that the subtlety of the original, which is what I love so much, is completely gone. Instead of wondering how the lightning miraculously struck there and hundreds of pages later finding out -- rather ambiguously -- that Rand can channel, you see him shooting lightning? Not to mention Mat and Rand wondering "what if Darkfriends are chasing us because one of us can channel?!" which was never even on their radar originally. Or how about the silly part about "an army the world's never seen before," with Shadowspawn AND the Black Ajah (which bear no relation at all to Dread Lords)? I mean I know it was an amateur production, but if they'd put the same amount of time and effort into the acting, cinematography, and script that they obviously put in to the great sets and costumes, it would have been a far better piece.

I completely agree with you. Furthermore, For VFX in this case, a little goes a long way (compose those blasted lands shots so the depth of field of the scene results in the matte painted areas of shayol ghul being blurred/blended into the shot better, less flashy channeling weaves and whatnot, especially if they aren't 3d tracked 100% accurately to match the footage). I don't think you really even need to see the weaves or the overly dramatic buildup to the actual result of the channeling. Maybe occasionally when the story is specifically talking about the weaves themselves and how they're formed, etc. And yes, no need to telegraph so much of the story so early, especially when the whole point of the first book was to gradually and subtly introduce Rand as potentially being the Dragon, but leaving the possibility open that it could also be Mat or Perrin. I wasn't even sure he could channel on my first read until after this event, and based on the way the book was written, the lightning could have been pure chance. "A+" for effort, and I love using salt flats as the Blasted Lands! I just think if you're going to dedicate this much screen time to each chapter, you may as well stick to the way the book tells the story; you're not going to do a better job of it than RJ did in terms of pacing, subtlety, and when to reveal what, especially when the core audience will be the book readers themselves.

At this time you have 4 options.

Option 1: Movie.

This is in the works but so are 1000s of other books that will never even get a budget.  WoT has the fan base to maybe make a go of it... but it would have to be marketed to fans and new comers alike... someone is going to leave unhappy, just saying.

Option 2: Series

A series would have to be 10-20 eps long for 13 seasons to tell this story as a whole... of course who wants to watch a series of a whole bunch of nothing right?  So gloss of, compress and boom... 10-20 eps for 5 seasons and boom... 50 ish hours of footage should cover it right?

Option 3: Current style of web series.

1000 hours per book... huge amount of time, low budget, and all in all... a great fan made thing but nothing that would go viral.

Option 4: Netflix type series.

Now if Hulu, Netflix, or some youtube giant were to drop some coin you could do 10-45 min shorts for as long as the money flowed.  You could really use a new way to tell a story and maybe even pave the way for other such projects to get done.  I admit, that it would be glossed over to the 9s but i think this could work.

Side note:  I also think that they could do a huge movie that compressed the first 3 books... then drop some money on a few season to fill in some blanks before you dropped a huge 1-3 movie end on the whole thing to cap it off.  Plus, if you do it this way you can hire nobodies and give them time to learn to act so that the final bit will be much batter...

I just want to say that this short film was awesome!  You guys did a tremendous job and it was truly a joy to watch the actors portray scenes from the series I love so much.  It was really tasteful, true to the books, and brilliantly put together so great job!
