Me and Cass both got sketchy vibes from you early and we thought we were on to something!!!!

Here's the thing in a nutshell. I'm intentionally ~~weird early in at least half of the town games I've ever played. There's not a consistent plan for what I'm going to do and it's basically I'm bored and I don't have anything to work with and in some cases I'm distracted by another game and yolo let's mix it up and see how people react.

And I expect different villagers to be suspicious of it on different levels, and that helps me make early reads even if it leads me astray at times (see: Crusher in Overwatch )

The early game consensus used to be "something's funny with this guy, better keep an eye on it" and time would pass and I'd get as invested as I always do and the concerns would drop.

Nowadays it feels like "Shad's being weird in the first 10 pages, gotta be wolfin'!", and half the player base expresses interest in lynching me 24 hours into the game, and people like Dice and Nolder are probably not going to progress off of that forever even if they're villagers, and people are demanding I step it up or get lynched, and it's like, are you kidding me?  You all know town!Shad's going to show up to play and will be a much easier read by the end of the phase.  It still helps me make reads on people but people need to have a more comprehensive perspective on how to read me.

Shad what do you think of Hellion?

Hasn't posted enough for me to call her wolfin' but has given me zero reason to believe she's town.  Probably going to vote there.

...what? The "vote wolves" post wasn't confusing. "Um, what's this for" is expressing false confusion.

And again, this makes sense well enough, but it's not what you originally said.

It makes the conversation read as something like "votes Iron" "Why did you vote me?" "Because I didn't like that post where you ask why I voted you."

Do you see what I'm saying? This isn't some sort of "gotcha" but I would like for you to clarify what went through your head here.

I don't like the first post. That's why I voted him.

I also don't like his response to my vote. It's one of the reasons I'm still voting him.

I totally suck at reading Hallia.  Keeping this foremost in mind regarding her.

First, did Ironeyes say that myself and John could be on a team?  Literally makes no sense.

I'm out for tonight.  Will check back tomorrow.

For now [v]vote Zaner[/v]

And yes that is pure OMGUS.

OMGSUS is never pretty.

Now I seem to remember a game, one of my more recent ones too, where I said a vote was total OMGUS and everyone said that was the wolfiest thing I could have said.  Here Hellian does it and its taken in stride.  Yes Hallia says its never pretty, but she doesn't go out of her way to say it's wolfy either.  Where if I had posted that and said it was OMGUS she would have been all over me?  What's the difference?  unless Hallia and Hellian are teammates? Maybe? possibly?

Does it need to be said if I just said it wasn't pretty??? o.O  And why would I have been all over you- guilty conscience already?

I don't ever remember Halli taking a dig at Wifi before like this.

Struck me as weird.

I really need a Cory Curren crash course on reading her. -_-

Actually, I have been told before to go easier on her because she's newer.  If you read our initial games together, you can see this.  However, she has now had a wolf game.  She knows the ropes.

I can't tell if she's being evasive or if it's just new community syndrome.

Zander/Cass

Wifi

Ironeyes -- He could be a tricksy wolf and if we both live long enough I'll probably ISO older games (I get the feeling he hasn't changed that much from where he left off years ago), but I feel he's been very open, and after looking at Demons Cove, a lot of what initially bothered me seems to just be how he naturally expresses himself.

Dice -- The pounce on me was for reasons I think town!Dice would believe, and it's way more assertive than he's been in his recent wolf rands even if he did fool me in them.  Counterpoint is he hasn't focused on much else yet.

Nolder -- Stubborn/stand-offish = town cooperative/friendly = wolf is my meta experience with him, and I have vague memories of distant ISOs during WoW where he was a more aggressive wolf, but I have seen him approach me the way he did here as a villager before.  The off-topic ratio made 3P cross my mind but I dunno, town for now.

Snow -- I like his tone/attitude and I feel like votes piled on him pretty easily at a point when, from my POV, he was at worst just one of many nulls.  He's been direct and kind of sassy and doesn't mind being perceived as lazy, and my extremely brief ISO of some previous games paints a scum!Snow as more rigid/formal in addressing people and stating his opinions.  My confidence isn't super high here, but I'm not interested in lynching him today.

Darthe -- Would I put it past him to immediately transition from a bold town-leading wolf to a rather submissive go-with-the-flow wolf?  No, but that can't stop my gut from feeling generally good about it, and he's seemed frank in my interactions with him.  A couple things stuck out as potentially opportunistic, like ISOing me (Darthe ISO's people?) and diminishing his read for what I felt was kind of weak reasoning at a time when players were starting to pick up the heat on calling me a wolf.  Or potentially the pulling Dice into the picture without an explanation, though one instance of that isn't really a bother.  But he's sounded fairly genuine to me in a way that's not so far off from what I remember when he was being low key in Lost.  He can be a D1 villager.

Null:

Tiinker -- Yes he's null despite being extremely active.  I want to take my time with this read and do some homework because there's nothing in my memory banks that I can point to in Overwatch and go "ah, that's what made you wolfy".  He's not even been in the discussion for a lynch today so it's not my top priority, but hopefully before I have to take off for the weekend.

Pral -- I thought we were going to get to see an active involved D1 Pral for a minute but I guess it's business as usual.  My super-slight early town lean was because he seemed like he was going to be involved more and I thought that, transitioning from a situation where (at least after the wolves lol) he was the villager leading town late game, it demonstrated some continuity.  Back to pure null at this point.

Kat -- Never been able to read Kat D1, probably never will unless she's a super obvious wolf.

I don't think my typical idea of orange applies to any of these but they're below the true nulls:

Hallia -- She's pinged me a number of times.  More often than not she does.  At any rate it's not one of those game where I think she's a pretty obvious villager.  I'm extremely cautious about pushing someone who I misread as a wolf all the time though.  Would rather sheep people I trust on her.  (>_> Zander)

Believer -- I'm not a believer yet.  Wouldn't lynch today because I know he's a highly capable player, but I want to see a whole lot more tomorrow.

Hellian -- It's always going to be hard to read a player coming in from another forum culture who absolutely no one has experience with, but I have no reason to think she's town and no reason to think I'll have a better grasp on her if I give her more time.  She's said things that make it seem like she's reading the thread but she hasn't done anything with it outside of a weak case on Zander and a town read on me after I poked her enough (but still agrees with the policy lynch?)  Somewhat selective in what she responds to.  The idgaf attitude could be villagery? or it could just be what she thinks is expected of her based on where she's coming from.  There's no one in the game right now that I can point to and say "I think this person is most likely a wolf", but I have the least qualms about lynching her.

Fair enough. I still feel like she's an obvious villager right now, but I have the fairly unique perspective of having known her alignment throughout BM.

It's probably a good look for Darthe that he dropped a strong town read on Wifi early, unless I'm somehow wrong on her but I rather doubt that.

I've got tink, marsh and wild as hard town and I'm leaning that way on shad and zass. Hally and kat im trying to form a read on but just can't, nol is semi baffling me, anyone else I've basically ignored thus far.

Did you say why you had Tiink this high? I'll look tomorrow if you did; going to bed.

Ok that's two people now saying, essentially, that Dice is town for "acting like Dice".

Shad can you explain further?

Is it just being within his town meta or is it something else?

Posted

I thought he was villagery when he was a wolf the last two times because he'd broadened his horizons and was willing to engage a lot more people on an ongoing basis than I was accustomed to. But I never did see his feistiness emerge outside of a single snip at a scum mate, and he even explained that afterwards as having been legitimately a little peeved.

This game he's already frothing at the mouth.

I didn't pick up on the absence of this before, but I'm picking up on the presence of it.

Still obviously need to see more from him moving forward.

Oooh, ok

I'm not honestly going at her either, but I do call things out if I think they stand out

This week I'm trying to keep the chipper up, it's just a sad time for me, honestly.

If you're Town pleeeeease cut loose, you can be as excited to play here with us and for BFG as you were to IC and play for Pizza (and I'm kind of insulted that you're not, tbh  )

You don't need IC backing you up to go all out if you're Town here - don't be so serious, you promised entertainment, we loved you in Disney and DM/this D1 needs excitement!

*Dances*

Go Go Go! You can borrow some of Zander and I's WIM if you want - cos we wanna have faith!

Faith! Faith! :D
