Lying as wolf makes no sense, cause he always dies. Better to claim actual cop. Or Doc. Or a role that ISNT normally associated with wolves.

This was the exact same line of thinking that I and think a couple others had in Cory's Spooky Haunted House game, when SiRReN claimed Town!Role Cop and it let her live long enough to get to the final 3 and convince some poor sap it wasn't her.

Sorry Kaylee, basic recap:

 

AJ, Lenlo, Shad and I were pretty firm on wanting to lynch Zander day 1, and others agreed. Dice was defending Zander but claims he wasn't town reading him. He just thought all of us wanting to lynch Zander was scummy. Some people didn't want to lynch Zander, but they had no other alternative suggestions. Kat came in last minute with a vote and several people didn't like it, so Kat got CFD'd and flipped Fool. 

 

We're all pretty sure we're gonna lynch either Zander/Celeste (subbed in for zander) or Dice Day 2. Phase change happens and AJ, Celeste, and Sili were all killed in the night. AJ flipped Mason Jester Survivor, Celeste flipped SK, and Sili flipped mafia. Pretty much confirms for Lenlo, Shad and I that we were both right and wrong about Zander/Celeste (they weren't town) and wanted to lynch Dice. Dice has claimed he is a Mason Role Cop, that his Mason is alive (and may claim), and the he saw Shad's role as goon, which would make him mafia.

 

Debate right now seems to be do we believe Dice (Lenlo says if Dice was gonna lie, why not pick a role that is always town, like doc or regular cop, but some [definitely myself and Shad] find it weird that Dice would have chosen to investigate Shad, who was kind of a consensus town read]). Dice has already explained why he chose Shad, so now it kind of seems like a matter of who to believe. I suggested the possibility of insane cops, but Dice claimed role cop anyway.

Haven't been on mobile today, I'm still at home so i went back to re-read on my computer.  I had chores and working out to do last night, then my brain went into shutdown mode so I decided to start fresh after coffee.

 

Still re-reading D1, with the knowledge Sili was mafia and there was a connection of some sort between Sili and Zander/Celeste things look a little different.  Will try to read fast and make some notes before work.

 

@Darthe: Vote count and deadline update would be lovely at some point.

If Dice's mason reveals themself, basically confirming his role/putting 2 heads on the chopping block if Dice is lying, I think it would help his claim.

 

Cause the mason bit is the bit thats really messing this stuff up.

I agree with Leno, if you're going to fake claim do something that isn't a questionable role...meaning non town.

If he had claimed doc or something, no one would've believed him. He's just playing the WIFOM angle, and fooling a surprising amount of veterans with it.

So Sirren let me ask this. Let's say Dice is telling the truth. Then who do you want to lynch and why?

It's super cut and dry, I would definitely suggest reading at least the pages leading up to each phase change and then the fall outs afterward.

Possibly. Depends on his play. Personally I don't vote to lynch a claimed cop or doc when they claim. Mostly cause they could be yelling the truth and playing badly. Also, they'll sort themselves out and you go after those your less sure of on your list.

If Dice is telling the truth the only recourse it to vote Shad I guess, because Dice telling the truth means Shad is mafia. There's always lynching Shad anyway to test Dice, and if he flips anything other than mafia goon then we just lynch Dice the next day phase.

 

Balrog already pointed out though that the last game I played where there was a role cop - me - I was scum. Admittedly I claimed it because I didn't know it wasn't always a town role, and Dice would know that, so his claim can be taken with more credit than mine was. But he also claimed Mason, and all of the Masons so far have had alternative win conditions. What if Dice has to get a specific player lynched to win? I don't know if that's possible, but its enough to make me leery of his claim.

Without being able to catch up I'm kinda with you here. It's either he's right and found scum or he's lying and is scum.

 

I'm hoping I can read through at least end of D1 with reactions,then skip to end of N1 with reactions. Then hopefully get a feel for who would be with Shad and Dice.

I got about 1/3 through the re-read before i ran out of time, will try to squeeze in some more during breaks and lunch if my phone cooperates.  The mobile data network connection in my building is absolute crap, and our internet is highly filtered and monitored, so phone posting is all I can do until I get home tonight.  

 

I'd really love to know when deadline is, since the OP said days would be 24-48 hours, and if it's 24 I'll have to make a point of posting as much as I can manage from work instead of waiting until I get home.

 

Quick take on today's biggest issue - still not a fan of Dice's D1, but the character claim is compelling (would Bran be mafia? or a fake claim? answer: Darthe ) and I have a hard time seeing the upside of Mafia!Dice claiming role cop when he could have just claimed cop.   Shad's D1 was good, but he's definitely capable of fooling me, and during the re-read of D1 I'm starting to wonder if Sili's name mix-up early D1 (Shad/Snow/Seph) may be indicative.

 

There's at least some time to see if the mason is willing to step forward to substantiate Dice's claim, and I'll be checking in to stay current whenever work allows.
