Answers and points.

 

 

1. What caused saidin to be tainted? When Lews Therin and his companion sealed the bore the DO manage to reach out and taint saidin. Some say that it hadn´t happened if the female channelers had helped.

 

2. The taint does different things to different people. Who was it that saw myrddraals following him everywhere? Naeff

 

3. Nynaeve eventually came up with a way of healing the madness caused by the taint. Which One Power element did she use to remove the taint? Spirit

 

4.Different societies choose different ways of handling male channelers. What happened to male channelsers among the:

 

a) Aiel - aiel men that find out they can channel goes on a trolloc hunt in the Blight. Most of them died fighting. (Some of you know what happens to those that didn´t die. :))

b) Atha´an Miere - where killed unless they comitted suicide. Some say that some ended up on the Isle of Madmen but we can´t know that for sure.

c) Ayyad - the male ayyad were used as breeding stock for the female ayyad. They were only thought as much as to eat and dress, not much else. When they turned 21 (or if they had stared to channel before that) they were killed.

d) Amayar - comitted suicide to avoid harming everyone.

 

5. Male channelers were tracked down by Red Ajah. For some reason there are two different words used for severing a person from the One Power. Which two words, and which refers to men/women? Women get stilled, men get gentled.

 

6. How was Androl effected by the taint? If he held saidin too long he saw shadows crawling towards him from dark corners.

 

7. Rand and Nynaeve cleansed saidin. Still people (like Evin) went mad after the cleansing. Why? Those who had been affected by the taint before the cleansing still went mad (unless healed of course). Those that started channeling after the cleansing didn´t have to deal with the taint at all.

 

8. How did Rand deal with Fedwin Morr´s madness? Poor Fedwin. Rand killed him.

 

9. What does the Male Channeler Pogrom refer to? For a while Red Ajah (unknowingly helped by the Black Ajah?) hunted down male channelers and gentled them on the spot, even though the laws said that they had to be brought to the WT first. Thom´s nephew Owyn was one of the victims.

 

10. At the Chosen Meeting in Winter´s Heart, Graendal says that especially Arangar, Osangar, Demandred and Moridin should fear Rand cleansing saidin. Why does she say that? When the taint was gone the male forsaken no longer needed the DO´s protection from going mad. That could open up for the possibility of betraying the DO.
