My vote wasn't a joke. Sooh's may have been. If Thane had gotten to say 4 votes and Sooh kept her vote on what would you be thinking then?

I vote who I think is mafia. I don't really care how many votes they have unless it is hammer or L-1.

Looking forward to what you gain from rereading.

Wait. Does this mean you already at that point thought Thane was mafia?
I do and did think he has a >rand chance of being mafia for the way he (subconsciously IMO) treated Zander like he was definitely town even tho Z hadn't said anything yet.

Right now Eldrick is looking a bit worse to Me so my vote is now there.

Today's gonna be a fun day at work. It's v day weekend. When I left work wednesday, we had every room except 3 reserved for tonight.

I will make every effort I can to be here, but if I'm not, that's why.

Sooh, what is your read on Eldrick atp?

I can't really decide if he's reaching in terms of his reads, or if he's just trying to poke and seeing if he can't find something scummy.

Irt my comment at shad. I know having a headache affects gameplay. I just didn't want to see you use it as an excuse to lurk.

Wouldn't it make a good bit more sense to see if I follow through on a scummy course of action than to preemptively call out the possibility that I might?

Eldrick, this might have sounded like a stupid/rhetorical question, but I'd like to hear your answer.

I see merit in both ways of dealing with it. Calling you out on it before it becomes an issue brings other people's attention to my viewpoint.

While waiting for it to be an issue ensures that my focus isn't wasted if you don't lurk.

What's your "viewpoint" in this regard?

It's outside the spirit of the game to use RL stuff as an excuse to lurk. RL happens to all of us. Is this a problem at DM? People using their RL issues as cover?

That you would use your headache as an excuse to lurk. I thought I made that clear.

I'm just trying to understand your thought process here.  Did you think I was a little scummy on p1 then?

No. I already stated that I had you as null.

Just because it's outside the spirit of the game, doesn't mean we should ignore it. People being inactive is a common reason for others to call them scum. Prodding for activity ensures that we have something to base our reads on.

Well, I think we've just walked in a giant circle.

I didn't realize you were saying I might use it as an excuse to lurk even if I am town, which is a weird thought to me because I don't think towns look for excuses to lurk, but I'm getting the impression that's really what you meant to suggest, so I suppose the statement's null.

What do you think of Sooh's reaction to your vote?

So, Shad, how is your headache after that?

Hmm... so, first game related post from a player would be mine.

Hello friends!!

Now, where's the fridge, I am thirsty. Basic game means what, 2 baddies? Let's find them!

First post by a player, sure. First game-related post? That's a stretch. The only content in that post that even resembles game-related is commenting that a 9 player game should have 2 mafia.

If you read someone as null then you DO NOT KNOW that person is NOT MAFIA.

5 to lynch means 2 votes is not gonna cause a lynch. most likely scenario is 2 mafia so need at least one more town player to vote him before that could even be a possibility.

someone is gonna eventually get two votes, what difference does it make if it is now or later?

It matters because of how quickly it happened.

I like Turin forcing reactions out of people early. I think his quick switch from Thane to Eldrick comes from a townie state of mind more often than not. It was page 2 in the game; I doubt scum!Turin would go "oh no, Eldrick's on to me!" and respond with an OMGUS pushback.  Especially considering how calm town!Turin can be under pressure.  Switching targets fast like that could draw negative attention as scum, and I think it's more likely to come from town actually looking for early warnings and drawing attention to them.

Thane's reactions to Turin were entirely null imo.  He has a relaxed game that he can replicate well, and I don't think the 'understanding' approach is alignment indicative for him.  Thane's biggest struggle as scum is how he progresses his reads, and that's no secret.

Eldrick already feels fishy.  I'm not entirely sure what the key to distinguishing GnD D0 Eldrick from Supernatural Eldrick is, but I'm curious how he responds to me.

p3, not much else to work with atp.

His switch was an omgus switch. How is that better?

SHad Turin Scum Team?

LMK.

What's your take on him so far? What strikes you as different from Turin1?

He seems odd, i guess.  The OMGUS vote was bad imo.  He voted Thane again to start off this game as well as the the last game so kinda null.  But i dont like the reasoning for the switch and I kinda disagree that dropping a 2nd vote someone isnt a big deal in a 9 player game.

Agreed

You guys agree with the reason for my vote. Why am I still scummy to you?

It's one vote in 5. I have reason to think he could be mafia. Others have mentioned his posts. If he had no votes would you have considered voting him for those statements?

Good question. I haven't seen enough to lay down a vote, but I am watching him. It isn't because he already has votes.

This comes off as you being worried that what we were thinking was your reason.

...because I didn't say that. I have no idea if you are town or not. As such, I look out for things that could mean you are scum. I.E. a reason to lurk.

Do I think you're scummy? No. I have you as null.

Having you as null doesn't mean I think you're town either. I look out for reasons to think that too.

As for Sooh's reaction to my vote, I'm not sure how to take it yet. I don't remember if that's how she plays or not, and I'm not just taking her word for it. I didn't, and still don't, like the concept of leaving a joke vote on someone after stating that it's a joke vote. She hasn't stated a reason to leave it there, and her continuing to do so has bought her my vote.

I guess I misunderstood, then. I thought you had one. So, all this talk over a nonexistent headache? That's hilarious!

Seriously. All I did was point out a potential issue.

It's common knowledge that scum tend to overstate things. I feel like that's what you did here.

I don't see a reason for you to mention that that wasn't why you were watching him. Town doesn't watch someone "because they have votes".

I see what you're saying here. I'm not sure why I said that, with it being out of context now. I was trying to be clear over something at the time, is all I remember about it.

Feel free to go back and look in my other games, especially the most recent ones. I tend to stay put until I have a reason to switch. Thanks for giving me one I guess.

Your reasoning makes sense if it wasn't an omgus switch, and I was about to say something to that effect. But it still feels like one to me, and I'm not the only one feeling like that, so I changed what I was going to say. My question was poorly worded, because I didn't like my original response.

I didn't think it was better, because I thought it was omgus. I was wondering how you thought it was, forgetting the fact that you didn't think it was omgus. Question should be disregarded.
