I haven't seen anyone do anything scummy or towny yet. Tis a nice fence. -nod-

What do you mean by scummy here?

Something that warrants voting them. Inconsistencies, erratic behavior, stuff like that.

So serious chats:

One thing that's been rattling in my brain the last few days is the effect of the four-day lead up going into the game. IE the mafia group have had ample preparation time and may be more co-ordinated than your average group being thrown into the fire. Whether or not they would use that preparation time to actually develop either a strategy or direct efforts into getting past the radar of specific players is a question as well, because they might have just said "hi" and slithered away and not really cared.

But considering this game seems relatively scum-sided in the first place, it's just something to think about. I've been thinking a lot about Sili's entrance in particular, as per what I know about what he believes his villager tells are and what he thinks a player like me would look for.

This isn't anything even realistically helpful but as per usual standard if you are a villager I'd love you see you being super villagery so I have less to figure out. tyty

Ok, so never thought about that. But during that time wouldn't they have been able to talk about how they can town tell more as well as strategy.

Out of interest, what are the things you look for in sili, and what does he think they are. If there is a difference then you would be able to spot if he was trying to push what he thought you looked for?

If I go with first reaction on reading through first time , I thought Sili and Sooh's interaction looked staged, but I would have nothing to base that on, just a feeling and it was the start of the game, lol

Tbch i dontbpay attention tthis. Corys thinks differently than i do too. I think in general his understanding of me is a bit basic.

I know he knows i am an engaged villager i guess.

Anyway tal this entire post feels like egging. What do u mean when you say sooh and my interaction was staged. Elaborate.

It still feels like you're just looking for any train to build. I'm still happy with where my vote is.

And I'm gonna go wind down for bed now. Night.

i acyually built trains and then left them. If i had a few votes and same content ppl wld be accusing me of tunneling. Its in fact null and you should be looking for reaspns not something superficial.

And I frankly don't care that you don't feel better about it. As I mentioned, I'm suspicious of you because of your reasoning.

First im hearing about this. Can you expand abit on why your suspicious of me? Or point me to where you already have?

Tab ISO P2/2, I need another rhyme other than electric boogaloo.

There were two bits in general from Lenlo's ISO of Talya that I liked and thought were >> to come from a villager:

Ugh I just feel dirty. I don't like having to do the Sisyphus act and I really, really, really would like to do well because I always feel people are at least somewhat relying on me to give it my all and give at least ~moderate strength reads and that's probably just a weird stupid #INFP perception.

I just don't know how to process when people give me a hard time for dumb reasons because then I have to think about why they are doing it and what it means and it just adds a whole new level of cluster to an already complicated and difficult game.

It's Friday, I should be in a better mood.

Hey, I just want to town clear you early.

What are your thoughts on Talya?

[unvote]

What are your thoughts on me?
Pressin Leelou for her thoughts on her. Valid thing to do imo with how they were previously interacting

This was one of the few "+s" I had in my notepad for Talya. When her and Leelou were 1v1ing and Leelou started looking for outside opinions, Talya immediately dug in to what Leelou was holding to her nose. I like that for Talya - whom might just leave it alone as a wolf rather than potentially exacerbate the situation - and I like that Lenlo, while mostly digging through Talya and finding it mostly to be fluff and "null" type posting, correctly points out one of the good posts Talya made and credits her. Seems very much like Lenlo is actually trying to read Talya rather than doing an ISO with a foregone conclusion on her alignment, which is something I've caught him doing as a wolf before.

I don't support a lynch on Lenlo today. I'm caught up 100% now on notepad and I'm almost ready to start dropping bombs, etc.

I liked that interaction as well. I'm going to go back and have a look at Leelou's posts as well.

Did we ever get her thoughts that she said she would go back and get?*

No. I'm just wondering where it came from.

As I was going back looking at Leelou's posts, you actually came up as being questionable to me, so I would like to know too!

Still waiting on the Leelou posts. Please explain why Sooh came up questionable, I would prefer clean cut thoughts/quotes/examples than vague statements.

Interesting. Cory hinting at mafia having had the opportunity to talk before the game started, and then Talya immediately suggesting that Sili and I have staged our conversation. That's convenient.

And then Leelou responding "Mhm".

But this only on the basis right now of seeing Leelou as being the scummier of Talya vs. Leelou.

How does Leelou normally play? Reading back I see a lot of off-topic joking posts, helpful posts/answering questions, the vote for Cory, the back and forth with Tal and then the switch to voting for Tal.

Both of her votes look relatively "safe" to me, i.e. voting for Cory because of the 4 day head start post (which is an easy target), and voting for Talya because Talya was pressing her. From the interaction, as I said earlier, I find Tal to actually be leaning more towards town, which makes me read Leelou as being slightly scummier. Then your bringing up that bit against Talya and her agreeing with you could be a scum on scum interaction, trying to frame Tal.

Not a heck of a lot to go on, as you can see, but I don't have a clear town on you from anywhere, which is why I'd like to hear Cory's thought process.

*We got the Leelou thoughts! She delivered! Point for Tab. +1

I like it. Demonstrates she read Leels posts, she caught up and put some thought into it. Didnt just focus on Leelou but on Tal vs Leelou and that whole thing, where as scum would focus on whichever was scummier in the hopes of pushing a lynch.

Bold: Why does leaning town on Tal make Leelou scummier? Why cant it be town on town or scum on scum distancing from one another? Id like you to explain the thoughts behind this when you get back.

Blue: Whats this supposed to mean Sooh? Cory "hinting" at mafia having the opportunity? There was no hinting about it imo. He outright said its a possibility to be wary of and you trying to paint that in a bad light doesnt look good. Please expand on the Talya/Sili thing as well or if you already have direct me to that post. Thank you!

Both of her votes look relatively "safe" to me, i.e. voting for Cory because of the 4 day head start post (which is an easy target)

I think most people would argue that I'm pretty much the exact opposite of an easy target

Jokey jokey!

All in all I dont feel to bad about Tab. Im not ruling her out, but for D1 so far I feel comfortable looking else where for scum/Loki.

For an update on my vote: I still cant get over the Eld thing. Nothing hes said so far has made me go "Oh yeah, theres someone better to be voting today." and that worries me. I feel like that should have been one of the first things he answered when he came back. So yeah im comfortable where I am.

...it was. It was the first part of that post when I came back.

Can you link me to that post or give me a post number so I can read it myself?

Also feeling good about Wisheste, Celeste seems more "on" and Wish more relaxed than TUS.

Might be significant. I haven't found CEleste to be particularly 'on the ball' regardless of her alignment. Could be confirmation bias. meh.

@Mish* can you elaborate?

She feels more attuned to the thread than TUS, wich is my only other experience with her. There her posts felt more like "I post because I have to to look good", whereas here I feel like she's been more engaged.

Also with what Mish pointed out with the Verbal/Tayla/Leelou chat it looks odd to be but I can't quite but my finger on it.

I cannot remember saying anything like that...

[v]Tayla[/v] It's a gut vibe mostly.

I'd like more of a reason than that tnx.

Yo Len....thats not my thinking, my thinking was just that ure usually more laid back thats all.  Hopefully no offence was caused cause none was EVER meant

Nah that wasnt directed at anyone, no one offended me. Just wanted to explain jokey len who does nothing every game is dead.

These posts, combined with how you responded to me, makes the iffy feeling you have me earlier go away. It explains quite a lot.

Tina in full for all curious souls:

Good morning! I have a birthday party later today so I will probably not be here much until tomorrow.

[v] Sili [/v]

oh hey its started.

a couple days ago i think i wanted to vote john snow, for completely arbitrary reasons, so I'll do that.

[v]John Snow[/v]

Hard claiming Gladiator. So come at me bro.

I think I should counter-claim Gladiator now :)

lol

I have read and taken notes up to page 10. I´ll continue to read and hopefully post some thoughts later today.

Hi Tina!

What's bouncing around in your head ATM?

Too much is bouncing around because rl doesn´t want me to sit down for more than 15 minutes at a time. I´ll come back later with some reads, when I get enough time to write it all down.

Got a little time to make this post.

In the past I have been able to read Sili well but I haven´t played with him in a long time. From the start he looked town, jumping all around. Then I was starting to think that he was setting up platforms for future lynches. But then I really liked his vote on Ocicat. I think post 342 was good and also that he questioned Celeste. I didn´t like Ocicat´s answer. I will +1 Sili´s reasons and

Something about Leelou-Verbal-CoryKey-Talya seems strange.

1. Cory mentions mafia could have had four days to chat. I don´t think that shows any alignment.

2. Leelou votes him for possible tmi. That seemed like a weak vote.

3. Then Cory gets annoyed and, after getting permission from Kivam, says that he and Key has shared a qt for four days.

4. Leelou then asks Verbal what he thinks about that. Not strange that he asks him of his oppinion but...

5. Verbal then says that (basically) annoyed Cory is town. And then Leelou unvote and say that she wanted to clear Cory early.

I thought the vote in itself was weak but she is now townreading Cory because of this. It seems like a bit too easy.

But then we have Talya that didn´t want Leelou to vote or mention anything so that Cory could have revealed more (?? I think that is what she means.) She says that this doesn´t look good for Leelou. What does this mean? That she thinks Cory was mafia and Leelou too? Leelou thinks Talya jumped on it too quick. Talya said that she did so because Leelou never gave a reason to begin with. (But when she did, she didn´t think Leelou should have mentioned it.)

Cory: what do you think about Leelou, Verbal and Talya?

Leelou: what do you think about Talya?

Talya: What do you think about Leelou?

Verb: What do you think about Leelou and Talya?

I usually don´t ask questions like this but it seems like it was a "knot" that has been left unsolved. (At least to me.)

Sooh looks town to me so far. I think she answered Snow good when he questioned her in the beginning.

Nothing screams "she is a villager" - the Leelou/Tayla/Me tiff had been discussed already by a few people. But it's a small sample size so I'm fine with giving her some more time to get engaged in the game.

I quite liked that post by Tina. You had her down as orange in a previous post, what had prompted that?

I also liked the way Sooh handled your questioning on pages 26/27, which brings her back to null for me for the time being.

I quite liked that post by Tina. You had her down as orange in a previous post, what had prompted that?

I have played probably like 12-15+ games with Tina in the last two years. There are some people that I struggle to read and there other people that I read extremely well, which I think is all weird garbled personality stuff.

Tina is a player I read extremely well. I can almost always townclear her when she's a villager and usually pretty quickly. Right now I can't, and while I want to give her additional time because I know she has IRL stuff going on, I have a sinking feeling when I think about her slot and I've learned to trust those feelings because they tend to be decently accurate.

If you are a villager one major suggestion I would make to how you approach reading players is not to get seduced by long posts. I especially see this at DM, where there will be heat on a player and they will post a big catch-up / summary post of thoughts and it will be long and people will skim over it, see that it talks about the game and players, and go "oh they made a big post, that's villagery".

Yet from my experience wolves have absolutely no problem doing this ever, especially when they feel like they need to "have done something". I don't typically like universal tells, but I will take sustained interest over "wordy pop-ins" any day.

What did you like about Tina's fourth post? Specifically.

In response to the pink: It could indeed be a case of town v town or scum v scum, but something about the sequence of events didn't feel like it. Lee voted Cory with no explanation, and Tal immediately asked for one, which was a perfectly sensible thing to do. They go back and forth and Tal presses her harder than I think a fellow scum would do, but it doesn't rule out it being town on town, you're right.

And Lee, I apologize for my mistake earlier, you didn't vote Tal, I had misread that.

For Sili's eyes only:

You have this really dumb habit of trying to undermine me when you are a villager, which is stupid because in a game this size with this much chaos it's imperative we work together.

And yeah, sometimes I stretch the truth and even outright lie about how you play to see what people think and see how you react. But you literally can't argue with me that I do not read you correctly. We've played like, what, 15 games together now? The only time I remember misreading you was the 13er where you were the seer and I thought you were a wolf and pushed you. Oh, and in that game I switched to a wolf before EOD and lynched him, and then immediately cleared you at the start of D2. Sometimes it takes me a little more time and seers are wolfy, LDO. Other than that I can't think of a single time I've been in a game with you and read you wrong.

Something about Leelou-Verbal-CoryKey-Talya seems strange.

1. Cory mentions mafia could have had four days to chat. I don´t think that shows any alignment. - I agree

2. Leelou votes him for possible tmi. That seemed like a weak vote. - I agree, at that point in the game you were seemingly one of two relatively safe options (the other being Eld for the thing about Loki's win-con). Easy to vote for, easy to give a "case" for.

3. Then Cory gets annoyed and, after getting permission from Kivam, says that he and Key has shared a qt for four days. - This is fine too.

4. Leelou then asks Verbal what he thinks about that. Not strange that he asks him of his oppinion but...

5. Verbal then says that (basically) annoyed Cory is town. And then Leelou unvote and say that she wanted to clear Cory early. This part confused me, reading back over the conversation, the reliance on asking Verb's stance, and I liked that Tina brought it up. It just seemed weird, and made Verb look weird to me as well.

I thought the vote in itself was weak but she is now townreading Cory because of this. It seems like a bit too easy. It did seem odd, I agree, do Lee and Verb usually have that kind of relationship in games?

But then we have Talya that didn´t want Leelou to vote or mention anything so that Cory could have revealed more (?? I think that is what she means.) She says that this doesn´t look good for Leelou. What does this mean? That she thinks Cory was mafia and Leelou too? Leelou thinks Talya jumped on it too quick. Talya said that she did so because Leelou never gave a reason to begin with. (But when she did, she didn´t think Leelou should have mentioned it.) That seemed odd as well, and muddles up my read of Talya with relation to Leelou.

(At least to me.) Having the answers to those questions might really help, as it was a tangled conversation which left me feeling scummy about Leelou and Verb, towny but confused about Talya.

And I have no idea about you.

I second this. There have been numerous games where as scum I would get away with doing absolutely nothing by just posting a massive catchup/summary post and people would clear me for like a day or two just on that. And I say just on that, because I really did jack all in a number of those games.

So here is A:

I am getting a town vibe from Cory in the wake of the post about preparation time for mafia. If he were scum, why bring that up so early? And his later posts in response to the questioning just seem very innocent, but we'll see. I've not played with him before.

So here is C:

And I have no idea about you.

Now Tab, please solve for in a way that makes sense to me besides "Taborline is making things up as she goes along".

Posted

And some other various things:

Verbal and Leelou are close friends and have been playing Mafia together for quite a few years and have extensive experience with each other. It's absolutely nothing out of the ordinary to see them form a one-two punch early, as they have a pretty natural chemistry and like working together. It also means almost nothing to either of their alignments, afaict.

If you are weighing that "cory was an easy push / easy person to case" in your read of Leelou I legitimately suggest you discard that. There are plenty of other reason to think Leelou may be a wolf for trying to provoke a response from me (one of them being I would ~probably think it was villagery), but here's some knowledge on me if you care: I have played some 300+ long games and in those games my mislynch rate is > 1%. I am probably currently the most annoying, loud and self-involved player on DM. But in my entire mafia career I have been mislynched once (and way back, I modkilled myself once to prevent a mislynch when I was a more selfish and antagonistic player), so you can pretty easily discard the notion that Leelou would be scum trying to push an "easy target".

Elaborate.

Please see bolded part...it was just that. Just a feeling. I explained that to Sooh to and now you both come back about not being shown why. Why is it egging?

Because somewhere in between my A and my C you have confused the hell out of me. At the beginning, when the A moment happened (you talking about the head start), getting that cleared up, that all said Town, as I said. Why bring it up if you're scum? You then seemed quite emotional/irritated by people jumping on it, which felt really honest and frustrated to me, so I felt that yes, Cory's likely Town.

Since then, I've been concerned that you're very good at this and might be tricking us. A more specific example, was that I didn't feel like Sooh was setting up a case against you (like you mention in post 526), which from an outsider perspective (having not played that previous game), seemed like a weird thing to bring up. I didn't get that vibe from her at all, and so I put you back into my confused pile.
