[Basic] Discworld Mafia Signups

Great A'Tuin swims through the never ending cosmos. Ever since she reached the Destination her mind has been primarily occupied once again by the Weight, the majority of which comes from the four giant elephants Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon and Jerakeen. The elephants are primarily occupied by the questions Why do we eat? How do we eat? What's for lunch? And that annoying, persistant itch behind the ear. Many astropsychologists dedicated their lives to solving the mystery of life, hoping that the answers would be found in the elephants minds. Upon finding the reality of the situation they turned to drink and eating Dibblers sausages.

 

And at the confluence of the Ankh and Morpork rivers sits Ankh Morpork, pearl of the Discworld¹, home to more than a million inhabitants². One of those inhabitants is an old crazy man, held captive in a tower. The man in question is blissfully unaware that he is a prisoner, since he has access to all the paper and pencils that he wants. One of those pieces of paper, marked with strange diagrams of circles is picked up by the wind. Leonard lunges for the paper and being spectacularly clumsy misses and watches as it flutters out the window and blows over the city. The paper could have landed in the river and dissolved in a acid fug, it could have been destroyed in an alchemic explosion, neither of these occurred, instead it landed in an unremarkable street and was picked up by an unremarkable passerby³ and pocketed for some unknown reason.

¹ This is not a completely accurate description, of course — it was not round and shiny — but even its worst enemies would agree that if you had to liken Ankh-Morpork to anything, then it might as well be a piece of rubbish covered with the diseased secretions of a dying mollusc.

Rules

 

 

 

1. This is an all vanilla/goon game, mafia ratio will be roughly 1:4 with extras going to town.

 

2. Votes must be bold and red, you don't need to unvote before voting again

3. This is a hybrid hammer game, note a majority of people not voting is not the same as voting for No Lynch

 

4. No editing of posts, unless you ask me first.

 

5. No communication outside of the game threads created by me. Do not quote your Role PM or attempt role PM matching.

 

6. You are allowed 1 bah post after death

 

7. If you have any problems with another player bring it up with me first via PM.

 

7b. You may not mention the number that falls between 7 and 9 at any time.

 

9. Days will be about 48 hours, nights about 18, Day 1 will be longer and a deadline set when everybody has checked into the thread. Phase change will generally be evening GMT

 

10. Character and Role claims are allowed.

 

11. Play to your win con.

There seem to be 3 issues that spoil games recently... I don't expect any issue with this group of players but

 

Anybody threatening to sub out on thread will be replaced or Mod killed.

 

ANY personal attack will be met with a Post restriction, replacement or MK, depending on the circumstances. Good natured ribbing will be met with a good natured PR, etc This is subject to mod's opinion.

 

regarding activity... As frustrating as low activity is for some players, it's a valid way of playing, I trust each player to post as much as they can. If somebody misses a whole Day and Night phase they'll be replaced or Modkilled.

 

Sorry if this seems draconian, but best to explain it now.

It's not the best of his books, but I'm partial to Colour of Magic (probably my favourite), probably because it's the first I read and I Rincewind. Also like the Guards series
