[Advanced/Experimental] No Roles Disney Game - Game Over - Town Wins!

How many characters have we seen so far?  How many do you think are legit claims?  Secondary and tertiary characters would be better fodder for scum claims than main characters, no?

I believe the ones claimed so far. AJ's Fantasy, Darthe's Archimedes, Your Gaston ((GASTON)) and Hamm. Mmmmm ham.

 

And yes they would make better fodder but lets pretend for a second that no one claims those. That still leaves an entire other mafia game full of characters that wont be taken just looking at main characters. Seriously I think you people underestimate just how much Disney owns.

I meant the part where I wrote I was just going to grab a coffee and then come and post my thoughts on the game - the part you ignored when you jumped on my post to try to boost your razor-thin case.

So, what I gathered that feels more or less relevant at this point in the game to this point. 

 

AJ is first to suggest everyone claims. 

Lenlo refuses.

AJ claims Fantasy, says he doesn't know the character but describes the picture

Verb asks if AJ just claimed scum, has failed to explain this so far

Len starts to get some votes on him, acts very happy about it

Darthe pegs Len as scum for being forced, saying its a limited pool of Disney character to take from

   (When there is already one character from Pagemaster(?) claimed, that no-one really seem to know)

Darthe points out the page has alot more pageviews then replies, and claim scum is lurking

Darthe agrees claiming ain't gonna help - still pushes the point to other players. 

Mish bribes the mod with black lillies. 

Darthe clears AJ for being the first to character claim for no apparent reason.

Darthe claims either Len or Verb is scum, after one post where Len doesn't agree AJ is cleared Darthe unvotes, "liking his responses"

Darthe gets slightly aggrivated when I try to get the talk away from claim-fest-ing, calling it deflecting. 

Wwwwombat comes in, and announces he will claim, but only if he get more points than AJ. Funny concidering we had already discussed scum probably gets points for fake-claiming, town wont get points for claiming. 

Wwwwombat votes me without giving a reason, when asked he says its because I don't want to talk claiming, yet has. 

Wwwwombat goes onto a pages-long character-claiming-spree.

I come home, skims and post a quick reply, and claim I will re-read and post my thoughts

So, quick summary of the things that stands out. For now Womb and Darthe has stood out the most as suspicious to me. Especially wary of Womb dangling his scum-alignment in front of towns noses with the points for claiming, and giggling about it in the QT. 

 

Also iffy feeling by Darthe and Lens interactions, reads a bit like half-hearted distancing. 

 

Could go either way here. Do we have a deadline yet?

Would it though? One of the seven Dwarves would get scrutiny as being an easy claim while Snow White would, possibly, be assumed to be in a Disney game. Then your just taking the shot that shes not if you fakeclaim it.

 

Theres also the fact that we dont know what kinda of characters are scum, if theres a theme there at all. For instance your claim. Gaston is the bad guy in his movie. The villain. And yet you say your town. Until we know if theres a theme for the whos town/scum character claims are null imo.

I understand the logic.  It's too basic.  There is scum incentive in doing what AJ did because he can get cleared by "basic logic."  Also, he's probably getting points from the mods for his play there regardless of his alignment.  You are taking something that is largely alignment neutral and using it to clear someone.

LOL, there is no logic in that clear. That was a cheesy attempt by AJ to make himself look town that early in D1. Posting and asking questions should clear him, not some weak attempt at WIFOM.

 

Your willingness to clear him as a result is amazingly devoid of logic.

Unless they are countered.  Statistically speaking, Snow White is much more likely to be in this game than any single one of the dwarves.  Perhaps none of them are in this game.  Doesn't really matter to my point though.  Scum claiming main characters would have a larger chance of being countered.

Alright I think I misunderstood what you were going for there. Yes main characters would have a greater chance of being counter claimed, as there are fewer of them. ATM though I see no reason to believe that main characters are more or less likely to be in this game than secondary.

 

So myself im going to treat a character as a character regardless of if its a main or a secondary or a tertiary claim. Until we see a theme alginments I will treat character claims as null. So basically I want to focus on gameplay instead of characters. Agree?

I just don't see anything directly anti-town about his play so far.  Walk me through it.

No, I got that it was alignment neutral and that it has potential to benefit town and hurt him.  That's why it looks good on him.  Plays that are made for the group rather than an individual are good enough for me D1.

As for Vos, I found his first post complaining about character claims to be meh and wanted to pressure him.

I think it can't hurt town because it has no cost associated with it for town.  No roles to reveal, no claims to push and we at the very least get a sense for what the claims in the game are like.  However, for scum it has a lot of potential pitfalls.  It forces them to remember an extra thing all game, to create a claim that they are going to be held to if it doesn't fit with the others and to take an (albeit small) early game risk.  It additionally means that they have to spread themselves out more (how odd would it be if they all claimed a dwarf etc?) if they want to keep in balance with the townies and last we do not know if the game has more than 1 character per series etc.  

 

Claims are an unknown that can't save people later but may well create a slip early game.  Why wouldn't I push for that?

In a way, Vos was right about the character claiming derailing the entire thread. Like what is happening right now. People are going to analyze which is a weird claim, whether it was a main character or not and so on, rather from actual reads based on gameplay. That is why I am not a fan of you pushing it further.

Claiming can hurt the town though, because mafia can get points for fake claims.

 

Darthe, you mention that it forces scum to create a claim that may not fit with other claims. But it could also be a way of scum getting townies to give out their characters, which gives the scum of an idea of what kind of characters there are in the game. AJj could have been fishing to get some town to out their characters right away, so he and other mafia can get a better idea of who they should claim. It's a smart move for the beginning of the game, too.

You should catch up then to the point where Wombat and I agree that claims are null and get to Gameplay. Being caught up is great isnt it?
