I'm a little hyperactive.

I post more post game than some ppl post in game.

but you would change the quirky, eccentric, eclectic nature of DM mafia were you to try to enforce activity levels.

some of those haiku like and hit and run posters make me smile.

and the fact that they're hard to read makes games better IMO.

I don't like it when it's easy to read ppl and figure out the game.

work for it babies Bwahahahahahahahahaha...

The problem comes in when you're in a game with too MANY of those types of players, and your reads for everyone get muddled because there are so many you either dont have a great read on, or have a scummy read because of coasting when that person is town. You see that enough times and trust me, it starts getting really frustrating.

If it's just a couple of people that are fluffing/coasting, I don't have much of a problem. To be frank, if they're town scum will likely kill them off for town anyways since their NK won't give any info, and if they're scum town will rarely let them coast to the end of the game anyways.

I'd love to vote you but you're on your town meta.

policy lynching is scummy :)

we should just point and laugh

I really don't agree. There are policy lynchings which in the past were dubious and more amateurish in nature than anything (see: lynch all liars) but policy lynching itself is a very solid way for a community to self police certain actions it doesn't want players to take.
if I ever play again I'm reinstating lynch all liars.

fake claims give me a headache.

I'll add to that.  We all know people who contribute SIGNIFICANTLY less than they should and do so consistently.  That is inexcusable in a game that relies on player interaction to function.  I'm going hard on them for all of my future games whether that is a standardized thing or not.

did you mean that to sound that way?

That would depend on how it sounded to you.

how did it sound that they make you HOT and that you're getting hard on them?

it sounded just this side of subliminally scummy.

oooh, pet peeve thread.

um... Okies, oppositional defiant coding fails.

also, imma get in before (cause that 2good 2be 4gotten JHS yearbook signing stuff is blargh) the inevitable quote fail and call deliberate irony.

I actually get more fed up with people who are constantly bringing the inactivity up of the people they play with than the inactives themselves. I think the mods should deal with the inactivity and let the players just play the game. As for the aggressiveness it's all about knowing the person and understanding when someone is just joking or actually being serious. Communicating with people on a forum is always more difficult than doing so in RL because the biggest part of communication happens through body language, and I think people should take this into consideration when they are making jokes that can be taken as personal by someone else. I rarely see a player deliberately attack someone else on a personal level so I think it's safe to assume that when you are in doubt you should just brush it off as a friendly comment. I don't find anything wrong with the competitive nature of the players here though, and I think that the key to playing a good mafia game is to combine the mentality of playing to win with having fun with the people you play with. In the end it's important to remember that it's just a game and we are all here to have a good time.

every time someone posts about inactivity a bean post counter gets his wings.

Yea. Like, if someone makes a stupid day vig shot...

You should have just put my name in the title of this thread. Your problem is that you get aggressive and then have zero tolerance for getting anything thrown back at you. It's called hypocrisy. Look at your posts in recent games for a list of all the same insults you just complained about.

If I ever get to be cop again, I'm going to view the inactives first. That way, we don't have 1/3 of the game with big question marks over their heads.

Since I'm someone who is usually more quiet in a game I'll be honest and say often I don't know how to respond...I still don't really get it I guess...I try to play, but really don't do well.

When in doubt, say what you think.  If you're wrong, you'll learn.  But you won't learn until you speak up and get it wrong/right a bunch of times.

Instead of just reading what people are saying you need to analyse their posts and ask yourself why they are doing the things they are doing, and what they are trying to achieve with that.

And this is what I don't know how to do - I get confused easily and it makes it rather difficult.

Being confused is a lot different for me that it is for many others - at least depending on whether or not I've been doing what my counselor tells me and I'm taking my meds.

Well, it's something you need to figure out for yourself. You can practice by analysing each and every post in a game instead of just relying on meta reads like you are doing right now. If you tend to WIFOM yourself after thinking through every possibility you need to try to become a more logical thinker and look if all the scummy things that a player does outweigh the townie things, and to what extent, and if and how it changes throughout the game etc. Everyone should start off as a scum read to you so you can view events from a critical viewpoint in your hunt for the mafia.

I'm not saying that if you are going through rough patches in life you can't play mafia, but it certainly makes it more difficult and you should be aware of this and how it will affect your game :)

I'm having a brain cloud myself.
