I don't like Verbal's softclaim... at like, 2 votes. way premature

unvote

vote verbal

if you have a claim, make it, don't hint at one. it leaves it nicely open for you to avoid having to claim a role and possibly be counter-claimed.

That's a joke, right?  2 votes with 5 to lynch.  I would not consider L-3 to be "way premature".......would you?

This is easily a scum bangwagon vote.  I called you out as likely scum before, but now I'm more solid on you than either Des or Wombat (both of those have shown a few town tendencies mixed in).

Also, at what point did I "softclaim" a role?  I just said allow me to reveal and don't blind lynch.  That is simply mafia 101 - you get reveals when you have competing trains and time before a deadline.  Blind lynching is simply lazy and poor play.

I don't see how this equates to me softclaiming something.  You keep using that word.  I don't think it means what you think it means.  ;-)

Now that we've got some solid D2 maneuver going, let's look back at D1.

Votecount
Cloud - Verbal, Andrej (2)
Leelou - Wombat, Blackhoof (2)
Blackhoof - Leelou(1)
Darthe - Cloud (1)
No Lynch - Darthe (1)

Not voting: Despothera, Pralaya, BFG, Ishy

With 11 alive it takes 6 to lynch.

I don't really see the case on Leelou tbh. I didn't read her actions as serious as Wombat has been presenting them in his case on her.

I could go for Blackhoof. He checks in to the game and votes me because he doesn't get a good feeling from me. Leelou has already remarked that it sounds like a weak excuse for blatant bandwagoning.

She's been fake scumhunting.

fake scumhunting?

to be fair, that is what we are all doing....

The interesting bit here is that he immediately starts defending Leelou after Wombat mentioned that she has been fake scumhunting. I also don't get Blackhoof's comment on fake scumhunting, but that isn't really important. The important thing here is that he feels the need to start defending someone right out of the gate, and it gives me the feeling that he knows that Leelou is town.

unvote

vote Leelou

why vote me for such a transparently obvious fake-buddy? if I was a mafia legitimately trying to buddy I would deserve being lynched for that "attempt" hahaha

In his next post he votes for Leelou while he had just been defending her, and talks about how he was obviously fake-buddying in his previous post, and that if he was mafia he would deserve being lynched for that sorry attempt. He is acknowledging Leelou's comment about him buddying to her, and is trying to downplay it instead of dismissing the idea and state that it wasn't his intention to come across that way and maybe even call her out on misinterpretation, which is something I could see a townie doing.

And he starts with the "why me" posts.

not at all. I was merely musing that it is suspicious that you would OMGUS me for "buddying" when it was clearly not a serious attempt to do so.

are you trying to deflect from Cloud, perhaps? protect your scum buddy that you perhaps arranged this whole banter with?

hmmmmm.... perhaps

Oh, and I'd classify your vote as an OMGUS vote.

not really.... more a "hmmm don't like this guy" random Day 1 vote. It isn't like I quoted one little thing and based my entire reason for voting from that... like you did

And he starts with the "why me" posts.

Nice try, but that isn't a classical example of a whymefryme as it acknowledges the reason you voted him.  It is WIFOM though.

Never heard this particular Mafia jargon before. Out of curiosity, may I ask you to elaborate?

Here he seems overly sure about believing that I'm scum and calls my interaction with Leelou staged, while just before he was voting for me because of a gut feeling. He then ends with a nonchalant "perhaps", which is making it seem like he isn't really sure about his reads, but this is in contrast to his previous comments about my allignment. It gives him a nice excuse if he wants to wiggle away from his current reads on a later date. I think Blackhoof also doesn't really know what an OMGUS is, because he calls Leelou out for it.

Darthe is also starting to seriously ping because it looks like he was actually being serious about thinking that I'm scum with AJ.

Unvote, Vote Blackhoof

Vote Leroy.

Competing trains and whatnot.

Oh yeah. Aggressive Day 1 Leelou is usually a scum Leelou

vote Leelou

We need a deadline.

Scum Verbal asking for an early deadline is scum. You did the same thing in Darthe's METAL game

Eventually you'll learn that people can break & manipulate meta. That's why you shouldn't scumhunt with it. Better come correct, or not at all.

Uh... If youre saying youre abusing your meta, then how is Cloud not coming "correct"? You didn't correct him about your meta, you accepted the meta read as spot on but dismissed it.

Vote Verbal

Votecount
Cloud - Verbal, Andrej (2)
Blackhoof - Cloud(1)
Verbal - Des (1)
No Lynch - Darthe (1)

Not voting: Pralaya, BFG, Ishy, Goldeneyes, Wombat, Blackhoof

With 11 alive it takes 6 to lynch.

Note: Leelou's vote and all votes on Leelou have been reset to "not voting"

4 votes on Leelou get wiped and then Goldeneyes doesn't get voted.  That's not too bad imo as Leelou was starting to look better to me, especially in light of Hoof's antics.  Of particular notice is Pralaya's drive-by 4th vote on Leelou.  Seems odd to me as it was, if not his first post, then one of his first posts of the game.  So either he caught up and decided to vote Leelou with a lame reason without commenting on anything else, or he was shamelessly bandwagoning.  Neither looks good to me.

Votecount
Cloud - Verbal, Andrej, Darthe, Blackhoof, Ishy, Des (6)
Blackhoof - Cloud, Wombat (2)
Pralaya - Goldeneyes (1)

Not voting: Pralaya, BFG

With 11 alive it takes 6 to lynch.

That's a lynch.

Pralaya is not voting here, but what I find of most interest is the second half of the Cloud train.  Blackhoof was basically willing to vote anyone but himself it seems to me.  Ishy voted for consolidation, and so did Des.  Des, however, was very "angry" with Nolder and the rest of the game for the rushed lynch.  In retrospect, this looks a lot like crocodile tears to me, especially when you throw in him saying that since Dap was modkilled, town is "screwed."  Looks to me like Des is trying to play outraged townie a bit too much here.

So top suspects from D1 voting are Despo and Blackhoof.

Pralaya and Goldeneyes would be tier 2.

And now we look at the current Vote Count, and guess what?

Blackhoof and Des are in lockstep in voting Verbal with Goldeneyes tagging along.  It should also be noted that both Des and Hoof voted Verbal relatively shortly after my vote on Verbal.  Hence my accusation of opportunism, Des.  I don't care if you breadcrumbed your vote today with a meaningless vote yesterday, it's still opportunistic.

Also, please note that both Des and Blackhoof are trying to force a policy run-up on Verbal for his "softclaim."  I wouldn't say Verbal technically softclaimed, although one could definitely see it that way, especially if one were mafia fishing for power roles.  Knowing the general distaste for softclaims that has become prevalent in DM meta, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the mafia tried to exploit this in order to rolefish Verbal (as Ishy accurately and succinctly noted).

We also look at Goldeneyes' vote, and as (I think it was Pralaya?) noted, although it is for a valid reason (hypocrisy and sliminess by Verbal with regards to my accusations), it is definitely trumped up/overexplained.  Just including the numbers about each of his posts or just quoting some of them would have been fine imo, but that mammoth post looks to me like it looks to Pralaya: filler for a weak bandwagon vote.

Updated D2 reads:

Scum:  Blackhoof, Despo, Goldeneyes

Null:  BFG, AJ

Town lean:  Pralaya

Town: Verbal, Ishy

And of course, I am town.  Thank you.

Eh. Pral's lookin for an excuse to point fingers at me, don't care, I have a null read on him. I went through every player's comments in this game one by one. Black hoof and verbal were my strongest scum reads. Of the two, I think verbal is better at manipulating people so I probably read his comments with extra scrutiny I'll admit that. Hoof is scummy, but if he really is mafia, then he is very bad at hiding it. I've got a town read on wombat. I think some of his posts are beyond nitpicking grammar and I disagree with him at times, but I think he's just scumhunting. Even if he dislikes the length of my post. Dunno about Des, I have him pegged as scum adjacent, but I always think he's scummy due to his propensity for flying off the handle. Similarly I have a hard time with Ishy. I have him as town right now, but I trust him less than anyone because I can't get a straight read on him with all the sarcasm. Bfg- town with good scumhunting. Aj- null.

@Wombat:  glad you agree on Hoof.  As for Des, though, I don't think the outrage was feigned....nor do I think those were crocodile tears.  He was pretty riled up in Nolder's last game, so I expect the rage this time around was genuine.  Granted, that doesn't explain why he signed up for another game modded by Nolder after his (Des') threats last time around.......but that's another story.

Pretty sure either you or Pralaya is scum.  The interaction seems weird based on both your play thus far.  If I had to choose....

Softclaiming is implying or stating that you have a role, but not saying what the role is. Saying "don't lynch me before I reveal" is implying that you have a role without saying what the role is, and keeps you safe from having to ever reveal if the lynch is abandoned as a result.

Blind lynching is lynching before the person has had a chance to speak or defend themselves, right? Well you did speak, therefore nothing from that point would have been a blind lynch.

Your defence is weak, verbal.

EAD Aj, that's straight doo doo hiding a sheeping vote as a joke. Pral's vote is omgus, but at least he bothered to show up today and make an attempt at playing. BFG's vote is based on a feeling I'm trying to get townie credit. Well yeah, if you're trying to make sense of things and find scum, that's a town move. I expect more from you. Wombat, next time I'll make sure to try less. Evidently coasting and making snarky comments gets you to the next day in this game and actually putting in some effort to show what you're talking about  gets you lynched. Scum is running the discussion here, you try you die.

Such emotion there Goldy.

I never said my vote was a joke, but I am taking a page out of Dap's book and evening out the trains to see who is going to switch things up.

I agree with some of the points BFG has brought up regarding your actions towards Cloud's flip.

Also, I'm reading Verb as Town (regardless of the soft claim) and looking at Wombat's post earlier regarding the voting patterns Des and BH look pretty sketchy, therefore I have chosen not to be on the same wagon as them.

Pretty simple.
