I have an account that I just ran out of play time with on Monday and I haven't yet scraped up the 15 bucks for another month.

But my 80 Deathknight is my main and I'm on the Azuremyst realm. Pretty sure that's how you spell it. Toon name is "Kovan". I should have it back here pretty soon.

And my battle.net thing is Joshuakovan22@yahoo.com.

If anyone wants to gift me a month you won't have to twist my arm or anything. :]

If all you guys who play together on here have a Guild I would love to join it when I can. I just joined some random one cause they invited me and I had just started. I'm sure there are actual benefits to being in one, but none so far that I've discovered. I think everyone in mine might be 12.

Kovan, a good portion of us that actively play from Dragonmount have a Guild on the Sen'jin realm (alliance). However there are tons of us scattered throughout different realms. I would love to get new guild members from Dragonmount though.

for whatever it's worth, I play on Earthen Ring US, both sides. I'm mostly a druid, cause I love love love the class. :)

Also, I garnered a beta invite recently. Anyone else in the beta right now? For the most part, I'm liking what I'm seeing.

I play on the Shu'halo realm. My main is a lvl 70lock, but I also have an 80DK and a bunch of alts. I'm currently takin a break from WOW until Cat comes out or until the next patch comes with the talent changes.

Oh yeah, my lock's name is Belphegorist and my DK is Amonost.

So patch 4.0 came out yesterday. I was kind of scared about all the changes so kind of ignored what was coming in the patch. Since it took all night to download last night I read into it. Wow.... so much change. It looks like I have to relearn how to tank with my pally and ... so much more. Just when I considered myself an above average player with my toons I have to relearn everything.

feral druids (tank and dps) is about the only thing I have a good handle on post 4.0.1, Emperor, and I am a pretty fair hand myself. There's just too much change to be instantly absorbed after 2 years of practice the old way. I don't even recognize most of the holy paladin stuff. The only reason I have a good handle on druids is because I've been playing beta the past two weeks.

Fiddled around a little with the new Guild UI (since I'm currently a GM), and mostly just reassigned talents and abilities. I had to re-train bear form on both of my druids, literally half my buttons on my pally were gone, and I hardly recognize some of the warlock and mage stuff. It will take some doing. My main concern, as a druid who tanks, is that I can't tank more than two things at a time with any reliability at all until I ding 81 - one of the primary druid aoe tanking tools is something you can't train until then, and they put swipe on a 6 second cooldown, so literally the only thing I can "spam" that hits more than one target is maul.

i, so far, like the bear tanking changes. I and my lvl 80 pally friend just did ZG. I had no threat problems. He'd pick up a group of mobs and 1 swipe and they were all over me. When we got to Hakkar the pally died almost right away. I ended up soloing Hakkar in bear. Took forever but i got him down and asided from when he would blood siphon me i was never more then 2000 down in hp.

Quiet, when there are more then 2 mobs, just change targets all the time. It's not like you have combo points to worry about or anything. Activate name plates for enemies only and click on your next target.

I like that i have more to do as a bear now. not just maul, swipe, mangle, lacerate, lacerate, swipe, lacerate, maul....

Well, I draw crazier dpsers than you do, I guess. Even among my friends, I get a lot of AoE at the drop of a hat, and even in full ICC25 gear it hasn't always been easy to keep it all off of them before the changes. I've been tanking stuff since the original druid re-work and I get a bit touchy about it at times. *chuckles*

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the changes themselves. I don't mind making tanking harder or even the tab-targeting per se. I -loved- the challenge of feral dps before they made mangle a one minute debuff; it was probably the most complex dps rotation in the game. What I mind is being thrown back to BC (where three targets was all I could handle against determined dps) in a time when your average dpser is sloppy and flat doesn't care about aggro generation. At least in BC they knew that the seven-mob pulls in Shattered Halls would murder them if they got away from the tank, so they would try to help you keep control. I also mind being in what I believe is the only tank class that is minus one of the primary intended tanking tools until Cataclysm comes out. I could be wrong on that, mind; I've never tanked on my pally and I don't have an 80 warrior or DK. Thrash is a really good ability and will make it a lot easier to hold extra mobs. I've used it in beta. I'm just going to be without it for almost 2 months.

/shrug

I'll get over it. I didn't try last night because I wasn't in the mood for it, but I expect I will this evening. I've warned people, though, that the days when you roll everything into a giant AoE ball are probably over, at least until we outgear the next generation of heroics. It's probably good for people to start practicing the old CC and kiting methods we used to do back when 5-man instances were more difficult. I doubt Blizz will go completely back to the BC model, as some of those heroics never did generate much traffic due to their difficulty, but we will nonetheless be further that way than we are in Northrend.

Sounds like DPS will finally have to learn again how to cc. Poly, Hex, Sap, traps.....about damn time they come back.

I was on my mage a few weeks ago running a random (low level mage), and I poly'd an add, and the group was shocked. I asked what was wrong, and they said they hadn't seen a DPSer cc since BC.

Sounds like it's about time, lol.

My main is a healer, so I'm not looking forward to the mana problems I've been hearing about. Emp, have you healed on Barbie yet?

Healer mana was, admittedly, broken as anything. It was almost impossible to run a healer out of mana in anything but the hardest fights, and then only if something went wrong. We had a tree solo heal all of phase 3 Arthas (cause the other two in our 10-man got themselves killed while he was inside Frostmourne) on my first kill of him horde side.

I haven't tried healing post 4.0.1 on my holy pally, who is a dedicated level 80 healer, but I know some people to group with so I can try out all the crazy new buttons I have and start figuring it out.

Beta was really badly overtuned for a bit - I heard stories of people running out of mana each pull and tanks getting squished even in the best available beta gear. I'm not hearing that as much now, but you actually have to watch yourself and not just spam spells now, which I think is a good thing overall.

Here goes my QQ so far. Again this is just from my brief time last night

I can't find the 'friends' button. Sure I can check to see who is in my guild but can not find the button that opens up my friends list.

I don't understand how the new glyphs work. I understand the concept between the three glyphs but do not understand why some are available to choose and some grayed out. Did this kill the idea of buying glyphs? I haven't investigated this yet as I have been busy relearning my talents.

I don't know how I want to respec yet. I am afraid to make a decision on my priest until I learn how they changed the trees.

I have to relearn everything about my DK. I heard that blood was the new tank a few weeks ago (or longer) but it really takes me some time to get used to.

I do not know how to tank yet with my pally. It sucks that I leveled all the way to 72 and was doing really well and now I have to relearn how to tank in the high dungeons. Looks like I will just run UK until I feel comfortable. Is Dodge still the most valuable thing for a tank since it replaced defense rating? Or is it stamina? I don't want to be squishy when I got into a dungeon.

Basically I have some reading to do. I just hate that I have relearn all my classes.

1) the Social button is at the top left hand corner of the chat window. It's been there since realID came in.

2) glyphs that are grayed out are because you haven't bought one and learned it yet. Once you do you have it in your glyph window for ever.

3) you can view the trees by clicking the button at the bottom middle of the talent window.

4) stamina and defense is the most valuable thing for a non-druid tank. always have been.

Canukistani beat me to it. :)

Defense is by far your most important stat until you are capped for your level; that's not really something you need to worry about until you are max level. It's 540 now for level 80s, 535 for 80 heroics (I think). But basically, the less defense you have, the squishier you are. Aggro holding ability matters nothing if you die quickly, after all.

Aggro generation took a hit, no two ways about it. I actually think (though I haven't watched a meter to make sure yet) that I do a bit more damage as a tank now (druid) than I did, but aggro generation is down nonetheless. Blizz doesn't want dps to never have to worry about their threat and they want dps to self-throttle and use their other CC or kiting abilities instead of just standing around and blasting away. I'm looking forward to letting overactive dps die, personally. Is that evil of me?

Well defense is gone as something to level up. It was replaced by dodge. I did know about the 540 rating before and was gearing towards it.

I ran through an instance with my 72 prot pally last night and was totally lost on how to hold aggro. Of course I had no problem with this before. Anyway with a good rotation for mobs would be greatly appreciated.

I specced holy with my priest. I need to run through a practice run to relearn how to heal with her though.

Auctioneer is dead. Does anyone know they plan to put up an upgrade.

The social button was down on the toolbar before. I guess I just never noticed it was also on the chat menu as well. Will look for it this afternoon.

Looks like Blood tanking is pretty easy. I will check into it later today.

I guess my ignorance of stats for other tanks is showing. :D I've been a druid forever; it's been over 2 years since I had to think about defense as a druid, and even in BC I didn't have to accumulate much of it. A good thing since there never was a lot of it lying around.

I messed around on my pally for a while last night. I have to say I was impressed at the ability to heal on the move now. I can tell that the full effects of the mana regen nerf won't be felt until Cata lands, but I noticed I wasn't recovering as quickly as before.

I'm still trying to get used to the changes of my priority system for my UHDK. I've reforged as much hit as I can into haste now that haste is an important stat for me. Haven't tried to run any heroics yet, kinda scared to lol. At least until I understand the playstyle better. Haven't touched my other toons yet, still need to do some research on them.

Well, I healed an ICC10 run last night. I have to say I'm missing the old flash of light. The new one chews through mana pretty darned fast. I had to rearrange my buttons to put the new Holy Light where the old Flash was to compensate for my tendency to hit that key. HS + new HL works pretty well. The new group heal I have (a cone in front of me out to 30 yards) is nice but means I have to watch my positioning to get maximum effect from it. Fights where everyone is taking some damage are still really annoying. I'm having trouble remembering to use Word of Glory when possible and that's a habit I need to break.
