Important ones. Calculus is stupid and no important cause no one likes theoretical bullcrap.

Just woke up from nap. Still catching up. I want to say that this gives me a huge sad. Calculus is one of the least theoretical math classes you can take. Pretty much the entire thing was invented to do physics problems.

 

Also, if they're calling it Calculus, that means they're skipping the rigorous theoretical stuff and focusing on applications. Otherwise, they would have called it Real Analysis. Have you ever tried to prove the Bolzano-Weierstrass Theorem or the Cauchy-Schwarz Inequality? Probably not.

Who cares?  Units are arbitrary.  Expressing the speed of light in fathoms per fortnight is just as valid as expressing it in meters per second.

Except I can take meters per second, use physics equations to get distance and all around it just makes me happier. Derivatives and limits in physics context im fine with but when my numbers stop meaning things I get uncomfortable.

One of my professors used to sing that Lobachevsky song of Lehrer's after every final exam :)

 

The three great insights thing sounds like crap to me. Requires either inaccurate representations or a rather incomplete definition of "anything."

 

Anything uncountably infinite or non-deterministic would give it trouble.

 

Transcendental numbers like pi or e cannot be easily represented.

 

And that's not even getting into ambiguous concepts like blue, love, justice, or the ever-moving moon.
