Des just giving up doesn't sit well with me. I'm not done with re-reading yet, but so far I've gotten a slight different feel on him.

Vote Des

"Just" implies that something is happening willfully and malignantly, as if to wave off the next statement.  It is a cop out.

"Doesn't sit well with me." says that the person has a personal reaction to it, and is a cry for empathy.

One of the most common excuses ever for a scum hammer and notably counter to Mish's meta.  Especially since the thread didn't have a post in it in 45 minutes.

This is another plea to empathy, the third cop out for a hammer in a single post.  Three times in a row means it is forced, an effort to look like pushing without pushing.  Further, if you have a different feel and haven't caught up or read the clear VC, then why would yuo vote someone on the hot seat?

Further, if she wasn't caught up then how was she readily available to IMMEDIATELY respond to my post?  Especially with a defense that doesn't mention her recognizing that she is the hammer after I mentioned it?

She knew it was the hammer.  She simply didn't want us to know she knew.  That is the only answer to this.

You're being awfully sure I'm being mafia Darthe, but I haven't seen you willing to commit to a vote yet. Don't wanna start a townie train?

Three VC's on the last page and I am voting Des in all three.  Wanna try that again?

Scum.  Bag it tomorrow, she can't afford to let me live with this.

Posted

I ment you hadn't put a vote on me, despite being convinced since last night that I was mafia

I was fully aware it was the hammer. I've been re-reading in between doing other things today; so it's been half a page here and half a page there. I was reading the new posts now (several tabs is very handy) and decided to hammer since I was on and I could.

The owners had a tough decision ahead of them. They were seriously considering leaving off the bacon. Bacon made everything better. Bacon was good. Bacon had an excellent taste to it. But the bacon had been kept next to the sweet peppers, and now it was beginning to smell funny. So it was with great regret that the bacon was discarded for caution's sake.

Des, bacon, mafia Godfather, has been lynched.

It is now Night 2. All night actions must be in by Sun. Jul. 28th at 9 PM EST (extended 48-hour DL for the weekend).

Hey guys.  Clearly I am bussing my entire team and chose to do this from the opening moments of the game.

Anyone wanna argue with the Mish lynch tomorrow?

Posted

Gah.  Headache from hades yesterday, plus short sleep... I thought I'd have time to check in today before the lynch but honestly I wouldn't have wanted to vote Des anyway.

And, oh, snap.  Despo, that was the first time I've actually seen you fool me D1 since I got a feel for your meta.  Good job, I guess.

I'm really surprised he left it like that, though - I'd have thought if he was mafia he'd fight harder considering that they were already down one, and with the size of the game there's unlikely to be more than one left... maybe two if town is powered up, or one mafia plus a third party of some sort.  We're in a nice spot right now, methinks.

Definitely a good bit less uncomfortable with Darthe now, I don't believe he'd tunnel on both of his teammates that hard if he was mafia.  One, maybe.  Both, no.

Will be out of town for my birthday this weekend, but I'll have access on my phone.

I don't know how that makes any sense. Why would his meta be different? The only way that make sense is if you're the cop.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with that. I was the only one getting a town vibe from him, if I was the cop I wouldn't have been as concerned about him as others.

When he's mafia normally he moderates how scummy he comes across D1, and that's how I can normally spot him. As godfather he wouldn't have to worry about a cop view. In fact, he'd probably been amping up the scummy factor to try to get viewed and cleared.

Posted

Reread now that we know Kay was taken too soon from us as Cop, and the despicable Desp, and Krono are revealed scum.

Be warned, copy and paste and tweak from notepad.

Bubye Mish and Tress!

Tress; early distancing from Desp. "When he is scum he is town". Horrible really. Why would town think this? OR more importantly, VOICE this?

Mish joins the berf train.Hates the Trigger thing. Distancing everyone from looking at the setup. Don't look for triggers.

"You really still think it was a good idea to point out very clearly that it's very likely both me and Krak are vanilla? How is that good for town to have out in the open so early? That is something that I preferred to WIFOM to death."

Points out that herself and krak are likely town while berating me for calling them out as town. As mafia, she is not disputing the theory at all, but me for looking for it. She is sure to include Krak because as mafia she knows he is town, and can make Krak think about that fact.

I even believe Krak's vote was on me at this point still. Good Buddy target.

"What does that mean? I'm trying to ask you why you felt it as good for town to point it out in the first place. You didn't have to. There was no reason whatsoever to do so, at least with the reasons you've provided. Please explain to me exactly how you think it was a pro-town idea to point out in the first place the thing about the triggers."

Please point out why it's TOWN. Again, the conversation didn't need to continue, but she insists it does, despite yelling at me for not.

"And you just conviently forgot that the point of having vanillas is to hide the town PRs? That you just made the mafia's job of finding PRs possibly quite a bit easier?"

Not willing to consider that mafia might also be found. And accusing me of forgetting the point of VT's, whilst claiming that is her role and getting incredibly upset over it.

Kronos wierdly fos' Peace. Trying to distract.
Questioned by Kay.

Now it get's JUICY

Desp after my couple of posts worth of defence:

"1. He admitted to lurking
2. He admitted to antagonizing me (not a town move there, even if it was supposedly meant as a joke)
3. Posted a trumped up case
4. Posted obvious rolefishing comment
5. Backpedaled when called out on trumped up case
6. Used AtE when he pulled the martyr act, same thing he accused me of
7. Flip flopped on his reads (first suspicious of Mish, then points out that because of triggers she's prob VT, then all of a sudden convinced she's scum again).

That's a pretty hefty list of scumtells man. For you to act like he hasn't dropped any.... well I just don't know what to say to that. Moreover Berf makes a great info lynch today as well, since you've hardcore defended him. And don't wifom me on that, this is a smaller game so mafia are more likely to defend each other, and with the play the scum team in Nolder's game I think a lot more experienced players are going to try the "hiding in plain sight" routine. "

"Mafia are more likely to defend each other"

Pushed people away from looking at those on my train, and looking at those who are NOT on it, Basically, don't look at Mish and Tress who disputed the "Theory", because those agreeing with it, or seeing the logic, are Berf's mafia team (Darthe, Tiinks, Kay at times)

"Moreover Berf makes a great info lynch today as well, since you've hardcore defended him."

Says I make a great lynch, directs everyone to look at who ISN'T on it again. (At this point, those on me are Desp, Mish, Tress, Kronos, Krak, and... Peace. L-1 BABY!) Of these peeps - Krak's vote was d1 first vote, and jokey in tone, and peace was as always following the wall of text. There is a LOT of effort going in to pointing people AWAY from the train, because they are all on it, and have two (At this point) Town leaning peeps to agree with them, in theory.

"I think a lot more experienced players are going to try the "hiding in plain sight" routine"

IE - I think players will do this, making us think "they won't do this now that info is out there", all designed to make us look for those hiding - ie, not on the lynch. Ok this one might be a stretch, but hey he did flip mafia remember. Godfather even :P

"As for the other big thing discussed recently, Krak and Mish and not checking in before the triggers, I'm not liking at all the theory that they're somehow confirmed VT. This basically comes close to implying that Basel is a bastard mod, that he would design a setup that was that easy to figure out who some of the VT's are. For all we know, some of the triggers could have been the last people to check in, which could be possible since Basel mentioned the triggers at all. Or perhaps some of them had to do with placement on the player list or something. Either way it just feels like dirty pool to me to use something that has nothing to do with gameplay to try and use as "confirmation" of a player's alignment. For now I'm going to treat Krak and Mish like they should be - player's whose alignments are NOT confirmed."

Distancing from Mish and Krak(See later). Condemnation of the theory ultimately to discredit me as a player, and implies I'm calling the mod a bastard??? How did I miss this earlier? That train gif really got under the guys skin.

But yeah. Mish again mentioned.

Desp buddying Tress in a later post. Tress having torn me to shreds earlier of course, but with a calmer case than Mish.

I hit l-2. Kay votes Mish. Mish throws it back straight away.
"Seems like mafia trying to start a train". I had already been parked on her a while...

Desp later reiterates that town should be looking at those not on the lynch, ie stalling it, rather than those on it. Mish still on it. And Tress I think.

Both Desp and Mish, parked on me, make quick comments and don't really come back.  Mafia not trying to distract or give tells before the impending Lynch.

Krak has some good points, and doesn't bitch about being 'revealed'

DESP then rolls in:

"Krak does make an interesting case for Mish, and she does seem to be buddying me a bit. And at first I figured she was just being prickly about that whole Berf/triggers thing, but after reviewing it a bit more it does seem like there could be some mock outrage there. If she really was honestly so bothered about it as VT, why make as big of a fuss about it as she did?

I'd like to see Mish's response to Krak first. I still think Berf is scummier, but I'll concede that I could be letting the antagonizing thing cloud my judgement a bit perhaps."

Desp VERY softly walks into a Mish FOS - to Distance. Look at the language, 'seems' 'figured' 'just' 'does seem like there could" - a very very soft FOS, on a teammate.

Identifies the town response "IE why kick up a stink if VT" - but doesn't push this at all. Very unlike Desp.

Mish responds. VERY hesitant to claim. IF VT - would you be worried about that? Seriously?
Links to Krak some more. Excuses for not being around. IE doesn't want to create anything to distract from the failing berf lynch.

Then buddys peace.

Desp after doing a Mish read:

"So she never comes outright and says it, but essentially by not denying it and the manner in which she responds to a couple of Berf's points, she might as well have (unless of course that's her trying to expertly wifom her role perhaps)"

Links to her earlier claim of creating FOS on herself on purpose to lure mafia.

"Still, I kinda feel like the only things against her are her possibly trying to parade around her "VTness", and her buddying to me, and I don't really feel like that compares to the case on Berf. She seems to get prickly as town, seen her do it before, and she's buddied me as town before as well."

Defend defend defend defend defend, then soft push onto berf.

Tress then defends mish and throws some FOS on Berf and Kay. Wow... All hands on deck hey??? Also soft defends Kronos. Claims town on Desp - safe because of Godfather role, try and give him some credibility that she's earnt by being cool when dismantling me.

Mish then wall of text quotes me - Claming she was creating WIFOM MY DEAR, WIFOM. Indeed.

"Sneaky wolfie" upon WBK's lynch. Soft very well chosen non-committal don't wanna appear overexcited words.

Tress throws some FoS on Darthe. Back and forth.

Day starts - Despo throws some wifom on Darthe, and get this says "I believe either Darthe or Tress is scum, but not both."

OBVIOUS MUCH?

Also much backed off of me. Has switched tact now that I'm a TAFMF and wants me to be friends with him.

Buddy's, backs away from earlier claims that were so certain. FoS on Darthe, soft FoS on Desp giving him permission to repeat the same claimes and cases as yesterday for distancing, Gut Read on Mish as town to deflect. GUT READ. That's all the evidence you have after her breakdown???

Desp gets friendly with the berf man, and votes Darthe.

Later calls Tress and Mish town along with me and Krak. Lists Cindy, Darthe, Peace, and Hallia as targets, the last I'm sure thrown in to guide people to a non-active, just in case we have town reads on the earlier 3, which I certainly do at this time.

Mish then SOFT HAMMERS on Desp, claiming the whole I Give Up play not sitting well with her, and promises to do a reread. Ironic considering she EARLIER asked him to step down from the ledge and get involved. INTERESTING

Throws some FOS on Darthe because that's the done thing if you are scum.

And then finally Night starts, and Tress weighs in..

"I wouldn't have wanted to vote Desp anyway" = "I have my opinions because I am town and what a controversial position to take! No mafia would say that, surely?" Empathy and derp bait.

And then the classic "Oh snap Desp you got me! First time for everything guyz!"

Backs away a bit from Darthe. Laying the seeds of escape methinks because now everything has gone to utter hell.

Ladies and Gentlemen, with an NK no doubt coming my way, it's been a pleasure.

1. Cindy - Noncommital little bit scaredy cat doesn't want to overcommit and risk having to defend an opinon given because pushed. Town.
2. Peace - Distracted, finger on the pulse, able to get away with not posting much so doing it. Town.
3. Darthe - Fellow TAFMF
4. Hally - Absent. Town.
5. Mish - For when only the FINEST scum will do.
6. Desp - Lynched Day 2 - Mafia GODFATHER
7. Krak - Usually lurky self. Chimes in with a rejoinder to let you know he's there. Town.
8  Kronos - Mafia absentee Day 1 bubhye!
9. Panchi Pralaya - Earnest new guy aware that overcomitting will see him catch FoS - giving his thoughts warily but with conviction. Town.
10. Berf - Certified Triple Platinum TAFBAMF.
11. Tress - For when you want just  a little more scum
12. Kaylee - Our beloved Cop, taken too soon from us. It is for her we do this. Retrospective TAMF.
13. Tiink - Town. Playing the game as needed. Saw the smarts of what I said, didn't rush in to kill me off when the chance was there. Town.

In a nutshell:

Game starts. Mafia spots a nice chance to jump me, does so. Fights VERY hard, With all of them chiming in at one stage or another, the Failed Lynch Of Berf has revealed them all to be what they are - Scum.

Mish got violent. Desp tried to discredit me. Kronos started it and slinked off, Tress tried to come in and use logic to counter.

But the failed.

Tress and Mish, in whatever order, thank you kindly.

Why would think so? On what basis?

My first serious post after I enter this thread, I out both WBK and Des as my suspicions. If I was scum, why would I name both of them? You would say I would want to "hide in plain sight" but two of them? That too a godfather?

Posted

That's a very nice case Berf, but you forget one thing... With all the effort Des has gone to in disctancing between us as you say; why would I throw that out the window and hammer him? And why do you call it a soft hammer? I've already said I was completly aware it was the hammer-vote.

And yes, I did intentionally try to WIFOM my role in the discussion with you; in hopes of drawing the NK.

When this game started I was completly pre-occupied with the triple game; I didn't pay enough attention, and I tend to be completly blind to Des unless I pay really hard attention, and that's how he managed to slide by me in the beginning. When I reread yesterday I saw the hints of the subtle buddying he likes to do with me when he's mafia; also the fact that he accused me of buddying with him, but didn't bother making a big fuss of it; another mafia tell of his. His emo seemed less emo and more sulky. When I checked back into the new posts in the game and saw I had the opportunity to hammer, I grabbed it.

But by all means; feel free to lynch me tomorrow, it's the only way you'll know for certain, and I'm guessing until I'm dead it's gonna be an eternal topic and that'll just be a distraction.

Tress on the other hand, I'm unsure of. I don't think they'd tie each other together that closely.

Posted

Berf calls himself town and expects that he will be the NK rather than I.

That pings.

If we have a doctor, day would be a good time to claim.  This game should have no more PR's and thus you will be an unkillable confirmed townie.

Posted

How does that ping?

And aren't you doing much the same anyway?

Mish:

"That's a very nice case Berf, but you forget one thing... With all the effort Des has gone to in disctancing between us as you say; why would I throw that out the window and hammer him? And why do you call it a soft hammer? I've already said I was completly aware it was the hammer-vote."

Precisely so you could ask that question. Mafia 101.

It was soft because you didn't give much reason. Granted he was at l-1, but it fits the scenario of a hammer vote on a teammate. Not too committed, not too over-sold.

"And yes, I did intentionally try to WIFOM my role in the discussion with you; in hopes of drawing the NK"

Information that comes out after the fact is always incredibly handy, isn't it? You wanted to draw the NK??

I think Tress called for the Kill to be put onto Kay. Fits the bill. Unlucky that it was cop, but of all targets on Day 1, why Kay? Why not Darthe who was the most Town, why not a random who would give zero info? Anyway.

A very easy claim to lay across your past posts, seeing as you played without fear of NK anyway as mafia. Redundant. Desperate.

"When I checked back into the new posts in the game and saw I had the opportunity to hammer, I grabbed it"

I don't think that vote counts as GRABBING your opportunity. But anyway.

Any more thoughts on Tress, or don't want to give too much attention to your team mate but know you have to mention her?
