Fixated on the myth of the paopu fruit Selphie knew she had to get to the island and pick the one she'd seen on the tree before the storm tore it from the tree and washed it out to sea. It was the last one of the season and she was determined to share it with someone before summer ended. So she snuck out after her parents went to bed early, grabbed a boat and rowed to the small island. Her boat nearly capsized twice which was scary but after fighting the waves she finally made it and to her horror the fruit was already gone! She quickly ran to the tree to get a better look but it was no use, it was gone and now she'd never find love.

 

She sat in the wet sand and cried for what felt like forever. Thunder overheard brought her to her senses and she wiped the tears and rain out of her eyes knowing she had to get home. She got up and started walking to the boat when out of the corner of her eye she saw a shape moving near the dock. Lighting flashed, was that...? "Kairi! Hey Kairi!" What was she doing here? Why was she going into the cave? Selphie ran after her and called out again but it was no use, the storm was too loud. She sprinted as fast as she could and stopped at the entrance to the cave, out of breath but also suddenly scared. Something wasn't right. It was cold outside but the air from the cave was really warm like someone lit a fire in it. But then there should be smoke not to mention light.

 

"Kairi? Are you in there?" No answer. Selphie timidly pulled the vines to the side and tip toed inside. She didn't want to be here but she had to see what her friend was up to. "Kairi where are you?", she called out. "Soraaa..." a voice moaned. It sounded like Kairi but something was off about it. Selphie rounded the corner and saw her friend facing that weird door. "Soraaa...", she said again. "Kairi come on we gotta get out of here!" Selphie moved to grab her friend but tripped and fell to the ground. Looking back all she saw was darkness. Until the yellow eyes were right on top of her, inches from her face. Then she saw darkness again.
