I have to apologize for my prolonged quietness...  Between a busy weekend, DM being mostly down for several days, and then my internet going down twice for a day or two at a time, I had very little time online to do anything for the last couple of weeks.  And I finally caught up on my end of November/beginning of December staff duties in the BT last night, so I should be good to go as long as my computer and ISP cooperate with me.

Deadline snuck up on me here - just a suggestion for Rand, if you could put the date/time of the deadline in text in your vote counts in addition to the timer link for those who are bad at time zones, it may help.  I know I don't click on the link every time, and forget what day the DL is - it would kind of help with the sense of urgency to be able to see if the deadline is 3 days away, or less than a day, at a glance without having to click an external link.  Just my 2 cents.

I'm definitely not caught up in this game.  I have a good start on my notes, and that last post of TG's is pinging me in combination with the early notes I took.  However, we need a controlled lynch, and toward that end... vote Basel

I don't agree with this reasoning.  In the games I've played so far people have been very consistent about claiming their real role every time because mafia doesn't want to lose a member by fake-claiming or having a CC.  Therefore, when Dori was a vanilla town and we get an un-cc'd claim from Basel being Ori and being vanilla town it is almost as good as having a confirmed townie (innocent child style).  Every townie we choose to lynch puts us one closer to a mafia win.

I don't know how to square this against the "no mass claims" rule because if everytime somebody is about to get lynched they claim their role then this will violate the spirit of that rule.  But, I suppose it is then up to mafia to try and make up characters to use and "claim"  roles that look vanilla to fool town.

Anyways, long story short, I don't support a lynch of a player who is, for all intents and purposes, a confirmed townie.

No mass claiming as a rule keeps people from pushing early in the game to have everyone claim up front and lynching from the pool of people who refuse to claim or don't have a believable claim instead of scumhunting.  Especially in themed games where there are clear good guys and bad guys, and especially when the mod has not provided safe fake claims for the mafia team, it helps give the mafia a fair shot at winning.

It's not intended to prevent people from claiming when they are on the spot to keep from being lynched, or near the end of the game when all but a couple of people have claimed to keep them from revealing.

And TG, it's MUCH better to lynch a claimed vanilla town than try to start a new train this close to deadline in a game with low activity and risk a random lynch hitting a town power role - like happened on D1.

Seriously pinging.

Not in this game.  Maybe you can exlpain better, but no lynch is allowed in this game.

^^^ What my question is: Do we have to vote for "no lynch" or is it just that without an actual lynch achieved it will go to no lynch instead of random lynch.

Im at school right now, can’t post in physics class only in media production class.

You should pay attention in physics class!  The rest of your classes...meh.

And again, we are VERY close to deadline, the activity in this game has been very low, and you are NOT going to get a majority vote on no lynch in the time left.  Plus, you weren't suggesting voting "no lynch", you were trying to start a train on someone else other than the leading vote trains.

There is also the possibility that safe fake claims were given to mafia, and just because someone is uncountered as a claimed dwarf that does not mean they are necessarily telling the truth.

So in order to achieve a no lynch we all have to vote no lynch instead of just not achieving a lynch.  If that is the case then it might better to lynch a vanilla than to risk another random lynch, depending on how many mafia, town power roles etc are left.  And I realize now that this is what happened when we lost our town poison doc.  So then the question becomes, with a poisoned Gandalf and a dead poison doc, are there enough power roles left that the odds of it hitting a town power role as compared to hitting a random mafia make lynching a townie worth it.  I don't know, so I accede to the more experienced players here,

Random is always the worst option. Always. Rand was incredibly nice that gave us a coroners report on Starry Poison Doc when he died. Usually, a random lynch means that you don't get a coroner reports. In other words, you don't get to know if the dead person is town, mafia or third party, what role or character they had. Nada info. And all this was said on D1 when it went random. Why are you not paying attention? I think it was even pointed out in the Wrinkle in Time mafia why random is bad.
