What was the deal with Mordeth?

So this is probably a stupid question: What's the deal with Mordeth? In the early books I didn't give much thought to it and now it is just a guy that mixed with Fain to become super villain. But now I read in WH from Mat (fighting the Golam) that the only thing beside the golam he ever saw going through the tiniest opening was Mordeth. Does this mean Mordeth was a Golam? Was it an early bookanism? Is it just one of Mordeths superpowers? Are these powers explained by RJ or BS in an interview? Just a senseless power by a normal guy consumed by evil or an early bookanism? I'd like some answers please xD

Mordeth is definitely not a gholam - if nothing else, the way he fits through a tiny gap is different to how the gholam does it. It's not an early bookism either. Mordeth wasn't human by the time we met him. He had certain powers. That was just something he could do.

Mordeth didn't really exist in a physical form, he created that form for the boys. Mashadar and Mordeth might be part of the same being. Like in later books he can create stuff like mashadar.

There is some really good info here on this other topic http://www.dragonmou...jeeral-mordeth/ that might answer some of your questions. It appears that Mordeth was a good guy that tried to save his kingdom from the Shadow by seeking other evils not shadow related and which were almost as powerful. Seems BS stated that he found several of them, but they corrupted and twisted him and he in turn infected Aridhol. Some cool background.

I actually just finished rereading the Mordeth section in EoTW and RJ describes him as physically weird, I forget the exact language but it's clear that Mordeth either has no true form right now, or is just a straight up shape shifting badass.

Mordeth had no shadow in tEoTW. This, to me, implies that he had no corporeal body. He was the WoT version of a ghost. Hence, he could slip through the tiniest crack or opening. Maybe he did have some sort of physical essence, since he didn’t pass directly through the wall, but this essence appears to be more similar to mist or floating dust (ie shapeless/shape shifting).
