I can go with LZM also. My neighborizing failed again, I've tried EP night 5, and Nolder last night. I succeeded with JLM on night 4, I'm pretty sure she's town. So we have JLM, EP, Nolder, LZM, Despo, Shinori, and myself left alive. We've gotten 2 scum and a third party, so there should be a minimum of one scum left, max 2. Blue = town, orange = possible scum, purple = probable town, green = Despo cus I still don't know what to make of him.
Are all your successful neighborizings channelers Kae, it would make since for Siuan to only beable to neighborize female channelers due to her part with eggy nyny and ela
But will you actually do it. Sorry guyd. Work has been crazy as hell. Sixteen hour shifts. Not much time for dm ya know. Plus i get caught with my phone at work again i get fired. So. Lynch me and you don't net scum. Take it or leave it, its all the defense you'll probably get out of me. Its my bed time. Hopefully ill get some time to play soon. Till then, have fun.
Seems like a somewhat lazy defense post. Vote LZM Once again, if EP hesitates to drop the hammer, I'm going to switch my vote to him. Also, I viewed JLM last night, she didn't visit anyone.
Hello? Hello? Where is everybody? LZM's crazy voting pattern just looks really scummy. I don't know what's going on with him but we need to find out his alignment, maybe we can make sense of it. LZM

You three just made one of the stupidest moves I've seen in mafia in awhile Do you not recall that I was GFs backup? EP is NOT TOWN Not that it matters now because you let him lynch LZM

Well this changes things. Unvote, Vote EP

Don't end the game before I do. I know it was sort of obvious the game was over, and of course you can reveal if you choose (though I don't recommend that - you never know what the mod has planned, and just because you think you've won doesn't mean you have). But it's my game, and it's sort of annoying to come on and feel like there's hardly any point to me doing an end scene because you've essentially announced that the game is over and my only use is to come on and confirm it. Especially since, if there had been one more townie left in the game, or if Nolder had had some protection (like a bulletproof ability, for example), it wouldn't be over, because LZM had a hidden Saulus role that would have resurrected him as a townie.

I'm sure you didn't intend anything rude, but, well, that's how I felt.

EP's role was the coolest ever.

I'm glad you think so :D I was a little afraid you and notbob were going to be very pissed at me lol. It teeters on the brink of bastard modding.

I'm going to stop talking and post role PMs nowlol.

I've seen double agent cult/mafia players before.

I figured something was up when Despo never went after EP with gusto. EP was all over his scum meta.

Posted

Awww, I was really hoping that LZM would be resurrected and then you guys would be owned, I forgot about Nolder being poisoned.

Role PMs:

In red are my own notes clarifying for you - anything in red was not in the original role PM.

Blue is my explanation of flavor for some of the roles, just for fun.

John Snow

You are Rand al’Thor. You must try to find Fain. Each night, you may send in the name of a player that you think is Fain. If you are correct, you have found him. Something will happen as a result of finding Fain, which I will not tell you about yet :P (Not only would it have saved Mat, but it would have granted Mat a power ability. This also would have happened if Mat (Lenlo) himself had found it.)

You also have a one-shot ability to use a Portal Stone - to skip a phase. This can be a Day Phase or a Night Phase. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

———

Lenlo

You are Mat Cauthon. Fain has stolen the dagger from you, and you will die without it. You must try to find Fain. Each night, you may send in the name of a player that you think is Fain. If you are correct, you have found him. If you do not find Fain by the end of Night 4, you will die.

There may be other players looking for Fain as well. If one of them finds Fain, you may also be saved. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

I love Mat, and he's so cool I kind of wanted to give him a power role, but he's not really cool yet in TGH :D He's just dying from being away from the dagger.

——————

Tink/Nolder

You are Perrin Aybara. You are the backup for an informative role. You are also ascetic, meaning you are immune to all actions targeted at you, except for night kills. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

The idea of him being ascetic is the wolf thing, that it sort of cuts him off from others around him.

—————

Rand

You are Loial. You are a sidekick. You must pick one player. For the duration of the game, any action directed at that player will be redirected to you. You have until the end of Night 2 to choose someone, and you must choose someone. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

——————————

GF

You are Hurin. You have the scholar ability. Each cycle, you will receive a viewing from the person who first posts after you at the beginning of each Day. You will receive this viewing at Night. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

I chose scholar mainly for balance issues, but it did fit well with Hurin, I think, who follows people's trails.

—————————

BG

You are Verin Mathwin. You are a roleblocker. Each night, select a target, and any action they try to use will be blocked. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

—————-

Sakaea

You are Siuan Sanche, the Amylrin Seat. You are a neighborizer. Each night, you may pick one person to become a neighbor with you - meaning you will be able to talk with them off-thread, on a QT, during the Night. There are some stipulations to this role:

1. You can only talk with them at Night. Not during the Day. For this reason, you can only talk with them are on your given QT, and not through any other off-thread means (PM, Messenger, etc.)

2. There are some people you will not be able to neighborize. Nothing bad will happen if you attempt to and fail; you just won’t gain another neighbor. Looking at the player list, I can tell you that you have about a 1 in 3 chance of being able to neighborize someone. (She could only neighborize other female channelers. Hence Elayne (Shinori) and Liandrin (JLM))

3. Once someone is your neighbor, they remain so for the whole game. However, you will have a separate QT for each neighbor. You can share as much information between those neighbor QTs as you like.

You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

This seemed fitting for the Amyrlin, who heads the WT, especially one like Siuan who has so many contacts everywhere.

——

Niel

You are Moiraine Damodred. You are a diamond cutter for a specific Town player who has a 50% ability. (Nynaeve was only a 50% Healer, but Niel could have made her a 100% healer) Each night, you select a target. If you manage to select the right target, their ability will become 100% effective for the rest of the game. If you have selected them and you die, their ability will return to 50% effective. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

Again, mainly made this decision for balance issues, but also the flavor idea was that Nyn, of course, can't always channel yet in TGH, only if she's angry. But if Moiraine is there with her, she can always do it instead.

———————

Shinori

You are Elayne Trakand. You are an absorber. If someone targets you at Night, you will be able to absorb and use their ability that Night. You do not take the ability away from them; you are just able to duplicate it and use it how you like. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

There was some comment that inventor would make more flavor sense for Elayne, but not in TGH. She only learns to invent ter'angreal later in the series, and only begins "discvoering" new weaves later in the series. In TGH she (and Egwene) are just learning to channel, and they learn a lot by watching others channel and copying what they do.

———-

Sorcha

You are Nynaeve al’Meara. You are the healer. However, your ability has only 50% effectiveness. Meaning I will randomly select whether your ability works each Night or not. I will tell you if were successful or if you failed. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

——

Player

You are Egwene al’Vere. You have a list of one-shot abilities which you may choose from each Night. I will give you flavor names for these abilities, and no other explanation for them.

You must use an ability each night; you cannot elect not to use one. Once you have chosen, you will be told specifically what the ability does. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

This was meant to go along with Egwene being collared in TGH, and therefore able to channel but unable to control her actions, she has to do as she's told. FYI, I used the term Dreaming God for it loosely - Player's abilities were mostly one-shot things like silencing, vig kill, healer, etc. The Dreaming God role is supposed to more be actions that affect the game at large, such as ending Night early and things like that.

——-

lolguy

You are Min Farshaw. Each night, you may select a player, and you will receive a viewing of them. This viewing will hint at their character (not their role). You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

———

Darthe

You are Uno. You have a vengeful ability. If you are lynched, you will be awarded a vig kill - you can kill one person of your choosing who was on your lynch. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated. (FYI, Darthe used his kill on notbob, who was one-time bulletproof)

———-

Turin

You are Bayle Domon. You have 2 chances to commute - to block yourself from all night actions, including kills, in a given night. Please let me know each night if you choose to use your commute or not. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

———-

dicetosser

You are Lan. You are the bodyguard for Moiraine. If you Moiraine is targeted for a nightkill, you will die instead. This does not count towards lynches. You win with the Town, when all threats to the Town have been eliminated.

This became sort of pointless once Nynaeve died, but while Nynaeve was alive, Moiraine was an important role to help the healer.

————

LZM

You are Ingtar. You are an Assassin. Each night, the mafia will give you a target (via me). During the Day, you should aim to get that target lynched. The mafia is aware of your existence, but does not know who you are. You have one other ability, which will activate if you are killed or lynched, but you will not be told that ability until then. You win with the Mafia, when the mafia achieves a voting majority. (LZM also secretly had a Saulus role, which means if he had died, he would have been resurrected as town the following day - which is why he couldn't know who the mafia was. It was intended to take place the following day phase, which is why it didn't happen at the end of the game; technically, in that moment, he was dead, and so wsa Nolder, so they had their majority.)

—————

Nightstrike

You are Lanfear. You are a solo win. You are both an unlyncher and a serial killer, and there are two ways you can win. First, as an unlyncher, you must prevent Rand al’Thor from being lynched. John Snow is Rand. If, by the end of the game, Rand was never lynched, you have won, even if you are dead, or even if Rand is nightkilled. You can also win by being the last remaining player in the game. To help with this, you have 3 nightkills, which you may use on any night.

You do not have to achieve both of these conditions to win. Either one will get you a win.

Lanfear is evil, of course (duh) but her primary focus especially in TGH is Rand.

———-

Despo

You are Padan Fain. You are a member of the (Darkfriend) mafia. You are a poisoner. Each night, you may submit the name of one player you would like to kill. However, the kill will not take effect until a full 24 hours into the following Day Phase (or at the end of the Day Phase, if it is less than 24 hours long). This counts as the nightkill for the mafia team, so of course, you may discuss the kill with your teammates. But you must submit the kill. You win when the mafia has achieved a voting majority.

Yes, the dagger kills instanteously in the books. You can only stretch flavor so far - balance comes first, and the point of the poisoning kill instead of a regular one was for balance. It was a weakness for this mafia team.

———

Wombat/JLM

You are Liandrin, of the Black Ajah. You are a member of the (Darkfriend) mafia. You are a puppeteer. Each night, you may target one player. If that player has a night action, you get to direct that night action. You win with the mafia, when the mafia has achieved a voting majority.

————

notbob

You are Turak, Seanchan High Lord. You are a member of the (Seanchan) mafia. You are the mafia nightkiller, so you must send in the kill for the mafia each night. If you die, then the mafia team loses its kill. You have a one-shot ability to escape death, either by lynch or any other kill. You win with the mafia, when the mafia has achieved a voting majority.

As this was a weakness for this team- they could have potentially lost their nightkill for good and would have had to (theoretically) rely on lynches to win.

————

Peace

You are Renna, a Seanchan sul’dam. You are a member of the (Seanchan) mafia. You are a vote thief. Each night, you may send in the name of one player. The following day phase, you will be able to control that person’s vote, via PM to me. You win with the mafia, when the mafia has achieved a voting majority.

————

EP

You are Suroth, of the Seanchan Blood. You are also a Darkfriend. You are a double agent. There are two mafia teams (Seanchan and Darkfriends), and you are on both of them. You can win with either one, but not both (the two teams cannot win together). You have a one-shot janitor ability, which means you can prevent the coroner report of one player.

My bad Alanna. Didn't mean to spoil it for you.

And you're right, there could have been some other craziness going on that could have happened. Won't do it again.

I've seen double agent cult/mafia players before.

Yeah, it was a little tough for me in that regard lol. I distanced from him a good bit, but had I been town I would have been all over him.

Some more things on roles:

Except for Scholar and Puppeteer (and to an extend, Lan's role, which I called Bodyguard but also could be called Guardian Angel), all roles were pulled from the mafia scum wiki. Sometimes those roles were variants on role in the wiki, I don't always use the role exactly as described on that site.

Scholar, Puppeteer, and GA are from THIS thread here, though variants of them likely also exist on the mafia scum wiki.

Also, I don't believe I made up the Assassin role, but I think I might have made up my particular term for it. It was the role I used for Pandy's latest Create-Your-Own-Role game, and if I remember right, I took parts of it from a role on the wiki.

EP's double agent role was totally experimental for me. It's not original, of course, but I'd never used it or seen it used. So in terms of balance, honestly, I wasn't quite sure of how it would work out. He chose a side from the very beginning, which worked well for him and the DF team in the end, but could have been a gamble.

I've wanted to use the Saulus role for a long time, and am a little disappointed it didn't take effect lol.

I hope you all enjoyed the game. This was essentially a kitchen sink game, which is almost impossible to balance, but I still tried. I like to use a lot of passive roles, roles that could easily hinder as much as help, and built-in weaknesses to roles to try and balance big games. Still kinda a toss of the dice though :P

EDIT: No problem, Des ;) I know you weren't trying to be rude or anything, so I'm not offended. I just recommend against it :D
