This list will be updated as I see movies. With half the year complete I figured it was time to give you my list (so far). I am not including movies coming out later in the year.

1. The Avengers - Really the only movie currently on my list I expect to be in my top 10 by the end of the year.

2. The Hunger Games - Surprisingly good adaptation of source material.

3. Prometheus - It has it's flaws but overall entertaining.

4. Chronicle - I really need to watch more movies from 2012.

5. Man on a Ledge - Good pacing but pretty predictable and forgettable.

6. Underworld: Awakening - By the end of the year this will be in my top 10 worst movies of 2012.

2012 Movies that could be in my top 10 once they come out on Netflix

The Raid: Redemption

Moonrise Kingdom

The Cabin in the Woods

The Grey (currently at home to watch this weekend)

Sound of my Voice

Kill List

Beasts of the Southern Wild

Upcoming Movies that I think are top 10 material

I have been busy.

It is never too early to make lists! The fun is in updating them when you watch more movies. Also it allows people to see what they need to netflix or view in theaters. Krak - ranking 21 Jump St above most movies in 2012 makes me wonder about your tastes :P

3. Prometheus

4. The Grey

5. Safe House

6. The Woman in Black

3 Stooges, is staying #10 regardless of any other movies released this year. It is purely honorary, because I loved it. I laughed, and enjoyed all the gags. It may not be oscar worthy. but it was something that don't see very often these days.

IT WAS ENTERTAINING!

John Carter? I expected crap, and I got a golden turd. It'll probably get knocked off, but I liked it. It wasn't Oscar worthy, but it was still something entertaining.

Others seen and not ranked: 21 Jump Street, This Means War

Worst Movies of 2012

1. Underworld: Awakening

2. Lockout

So I really though there was no way Avengers would beat Batman but it happened. I went into Avengers will lower expectations and I came out impressed. I went in with higher expectations to Dark Knight Rises and was a bit let down. Both are great movies. However I doubt these are in the top by the end of the year.

Other Upcoming Contenders

Lincoln

The Master

Life of Pi

Les Miserables

Beasts of the Southern Wild

Django Unchained

Moonrise Kingdom

The Great Gatsby

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Zero Dark Thirty

Six Sessions

10. Ted

Ted - Once you get past the novelty of the idea, and the fanboy jokes wear off, you're left with nothing special or memorable besides just how good looking Mila Kunis is.

The Master - Apart from the incredible acting on the parts of Phoenix, Hoffman, and Adams, this movie gets about as lost in its story and presentation as Lancaster Dodd gets in his theology. It's thin, airy, and prone to question - with no sense of catharsis to speak of.

Seven Psychopaths - If McDonough went a little far in self-referencing, it can be easily forgiven due to the incredibly fun, novel premise that McDonough and the cast flesh out for a very satisfying film.
