Vivi was good with the destructive magics. Fire and lightning and ice and all that fun stuff. Heals and status counters were more Eiko and Dagger's specialties I think. It's been a while since I played 9. ( But all of this seriously has me wanting to start a new FF marathon.)

I got the sudden urge to play FF yesterday too... I have one for them for my DS but I can't find the game because Jon LOST it, despite it being mine. *mad* Oh well.

Damn guys. Did any of you read Darthe's post? Why is everyone looking for counters like Esuna or Dispel?

 

 

EP's role was that he could cast the spell silence. Peace claimed that Vivi was his character and that with EP's death he went to vanilla. The problem here is that silence is a status-alteration spell, which like silencing in a mafia game, causes unpleasant things in the FF world. Vivi doesn't cast spells that take these status ailments away - he causes them. So what I believed that he was trying to hint at was taking away the silencing ability that EP had. Which would not be something that Vivi normally does. Darthe says that he could have casted another status-spell over it, which is a possibility, but he also pointed out that Peace's claim is an unlikely counter to EP. That's really all that I have, but the claim doesn't sit right with me given the circumstances.

 

@Darthe: Would you happen to know who Ultimecia is?

So what you want all counters to be white mages like Yuna, Aerith, Garnet? Roleblock can only be countered by a dispel? This game makes way more sense when considering character counters. Something that nullifies status-effect would probably be left to the healer.

I think he would've made the connection instead of blatantly ignoring it especially after a clear reveal which made it fairly obvious. I'm pretty confident in thinking he would've picked up on it. Character counters guys.

I lost so many hours of my life to Final Fantasy. I remember staying up till the early hours of the morning because I could and then waking up after a few hours sleep and carrying on again. I loved building up my characters strengths and abilities, seeing their grids develop was a joy. I still have my PS2 - I may need to find my games out :)

 

With regards to another question that has been asked, I play mafia in the same games as Turin. We have an agreement to be courteous to each other because you don't have to shout and be nasty to win games. Some people like to pressurise, some people like to lurk. People have all kinds of playing styles. Because I would not want to be shouting and being bull dogging with him all the time I decided to be nice to him all the time. It is the consistancy that is important, regardless of what alignments we may both have in any particular game. Rest assured that if things need to be done then they will be done. Turin is correct that in a previous game I was Mafia and convinced my team to NK him on the very first night. I was very sad about it in the Game Thread the next day lol - but it served a purpose and protected me a little. I'm sure if he had had time to figure me out as being mafia in that game he would have very calmly set out his case against me in that way that he has

I tried to view Mynd. I got No Result. No-one has asked I think - or have they? I expected people to be a little more interested in who I tried to view.

 

I really wanted to get a Town Result on him because his defence of EP seemed a little odd and I wanted to know what he was up to. I don't think Mynd is Mafia because I genuinely don't believe he would be that obvious and his reasons for defending EP were off the wall compared to his usual thoughts.

I don't think he would either, but his play seems way off. He's usually on the ball and in everyone's face. Good players get penalized harder.

Peace is dead on. Saying so will probably be my death but if it gains a confirmed townie it's fully worth it. ).) I'm still up for maw but can see where the mynd train is coming from.

Mynd is always erratic. He doesn't mind being extreme whether he is town or scum. So saying Mynd is playing strange is a redundant term. Mynd = strange.

 

That said...imo, he hammered cause he had to. He knew that if he wasn't on that list he'd be next. His defense of EP was defending EP as opposed to me questioning Ithi's logic. I didn't defend a player..I attacked someone I thought was behaving in a scummy fashion (sorry Ithi.) I didn't believe she would have a result during Day 1. And...I was right.

 

Big difference in the two. And remember MYND SAID EP WAS VALUABLE TO THE GAME EVEN IF SCUM. Look below.

I thought that Mynd was saying if we lynched a Mafia it would be a big whup! as in a good thing, but if we lynched him and he turned out to be Town it would be a bad thing because he knew a lot about Final Fantasy.

 

I don't think Mynd would ever say keeping a Mafia Team Member alive would be a good thing, that's kind of a no no in this game And he only does things because he wants to, so he wanted to hammer EP.
