I actually kinda believe Nolder. His play screamed cop/doctor to me but unlike the Ape, I don't like to risk outing power roles on Day One in the hopes of catching scum.

Gonna go with my gut and Vote: John McClane

You breadcrumb finder, then reveal as doctor with what... 2 votes? I don't like this at all.

you didn't like it in the first place so it doesn't really matter

instead of getting in a long drawn out argument with you I felt like nipping it in the bud and just coming clean

That sounds like a cop-out to me (pardon the pun).

well thanks for the compliment but I'm pretty sure most of the time I seem "devious" it's actually just luck and coincidence

and I was breadcrumbing so mafia would attack me obviously

isn't that what a hidden doctor tries to do usually if there isn't a claimed townie to protect?

No, a hidden doctor doesn't draw attention to themselves unnecessarily. The doctor's role is a much more important contribution to the town than a ploy at luring scum.

The first time I played with John he did a good job of riling me up

to the point where I actually got a bit mad (understatement!)

I feel bad about that and I don't want it to happen again so I'm trying to avoid being overly confrontational with John

at least for now anyway

and anyways he'd already found me out and pointed it out to everyone

there was nothing left for me to do at that point but tell the truth

ehhhhh

I think I disagree about the role of a doctor

especially in a closed setup like this

The sanctimonious bit about whether I think you are a good player is completely irrelevant, and comes across as an emo play.

it's not irrelevant at all

you're obviously good enough to catch me out in the lie so why didn't you think that maybe outing me was a bad idea?

personally I'm thinking you were hoping you had found a cop and were hoping to get them lynched

Comments like "long drawn out argument" serve only to insinuate that its in someway my fault that you just revealed with little pressure.

I've already stated that I didn't initially point out the finder hint because I wanted to consider the reasons you may have done it. Rather than impulsively calling attention to it. After weighing the hint against the rest of your play, I decided to point it out. I think I've made this abundantly clear.

Could also be scum false claiming to lure out the real doc. I wouldn't put it past Nol to be running some early gambit.

with only two votes on me?

seems like I'd be screwing my partners more than town at that point

and that's just assuming I'm vanilla mafia

if I was a power role they'd really get screwed over

there's no situation I can imagine where scum me outing doc would actually be a good deal even this early

well...yeah a little

I mean the breadcrumbing thing was dumb on my part but I still feel like you should have known better than to just out it to everyone like that

fair enough I guess

I guess if it was me I would have chosen to wait longer

that's all I'm saying

He outed himself. What planet are you on?

That hint was like a neon light, and he revealed Doc with 2 votes.... I think I played it right, tbh, because nothing he is saying makes sense as a play you make if you are town. It's an advanced game and he's giving us beginner reasoning for his actions. His actions resonate more as scum trying to set up a false claim of cop later, then changing it to doc now after being called out on it. Otherwise, why would the town doc surface themselves so readily?

Scum will always take a 1-for-1 to take out the doc or cop... And like I've been saying its only happening this early becaue I called you out on it now, otherwise I think you were breadcrumbing to do it later in the game. as I've been saying the whole time here...

^^This. Trading a vanilla scum (your scenario) for a doc on D1 would be epic win for the mafia.

that's stupid

especially in an advanced game

scum are playing a numbers game

going 1 for 1 is not a good deal for them

and you can think what you want John

I told you why I did it

so we're assuming that I AM a vanilla mafia and that this was my plan all along?

if this is such a good deal why don't scum try this every game?

I'm not assuming anything, I merely paraphrased your hypothetical scenario. And I guess scum don't do it every game because they're just not as good as you.

Just because you see something doesn't mean someone else will. He did not out himself. You brought attention to his play and outed him.

they don't do it because it's really not that great of a deal

scum would much rather get a doctor lynched (*coughcough*) than trade 1 for 1 to kill them

You are wrong. Don't call it stupid because you don't see it.

Furthermore, it's puzzling to me that you keep defending as though it was your plan to do this D1.... A play like this later is a great move for scum, and a typical one, and THAT is what I have been saying you seemed to be setting up.

They do. Later in the game, As I've explained a couple times now. Nobody said this was your D1 plan, breadcrumbs are usually something done to setup a later play.

Your defense is terrible. We need everyone to weigh in on this.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here

Well, in my initial post on this, I just said that it was a possible gambit, not definitively, just something to think about. Ape's points about the breadcrumbing hints seem to support the theory, to me at least. Although it still strikes me as strange that Nol would hint at Cop, then claim Doc. Just doesn't sit right with me. And Wom's stalwart defense of him seems off. I'm still not willing to throw a vote out there until after I hear from a few more players. And also because I'm not quite ready to take a chance on us lynching the real Doc.

wait what?

I was breadcrumbing as cop but I revealed as doc

are you trying to say that my plan was to reveal and out doc on day 1 or to stay silent and claim cop later?
