Just started reading a couple questions

So I just started reading the wheel of time and am at book 7 and have a couple questions. Would the taint have happened if both sources of the power were used in the sealing or would both sides have ha the taint? Is it just for irony that the whitecloaks seem to mostly follow darkfriends and forsaken.

Does anyone know if there was ever a map prebreaking of the world? Also could I get a link to a nice large detailed map I can leave open on my computer as I read the books.

When I was reading the books I had more questions to ask but forgot.

Remembered a couple questions.

How old can a user of the one power be? Because Cadsuane is over a 1000 years old and was considered the strongest since the breaking pre eye of the world.

Why are the women so mean to Matrim he always seems to do tje right thing and goes out of his way to help people even if he says he doesn't.

As far as I can see, the absence of saidar at the Sealing had nothing to do with the Taint. The technique they used was flawed. Im not saying anything else.

The Whitecloaks, pretty much yea. Im not saying anything else on that one either!

As for a map, I dont know of any good ones.

Also welcome to Dragonmount!

........

I wish facepalming could be done on someone elses behalf.

Not sure why. If he skimmed over the part where Lews Therin told Rand how he sealed the Dark One away it'd be a good question to ask.

That was revealed in TGS mate. Why say it if you werent sure which book it was in?

If you want non-spoiler answers, you could try reading this site selectively for details book by book.

There's also several repositories of RJ quotes but more difficult to steer clear of spoilers

All the best!

The world pre-Breaking probably looked very much like our world, in fact, probably exactly like it. I've done a topic on it in the past, I was hoping to come up with a more up-to-date, more detailed, more succinct analysis that includes Seanchan (which I underestimated in size), but this'll do for now. Again, I've updated some things in my head and have better comparisons, but that all takes time. You should take a look through the whole topic, not just the first post, if interested.

Both sides would have the taint (RJ said so).

Map, the guide has a number. All of them after the Breaking.

As far as I am aware, there is no pre-breaking map anywhere.

Cadsuane is actually almost 300 years old.

Guide tells that a channeler can be 600 to 700 years. No channeler reached anywhere near 1000 years.

As far as the Sealing & the Taint; I recall from somewhere Robert Jordan (or maybe Sanderson) telling that Saidar would also have become tainted.

Do not have an exact quote.

600-700 years old from what I can tell. Forsaken can live longer due to their 'immortality' from the DO I suppose.

Cadsuane is not 1000 years old. She is actually around 300 or so. You may have mixed her up with Caraighan Maconar, who was considered the archetype of the Green Ajah that lived so long ago. They are both 'Legendary' and were considered so even while they still lived. Or, there may have been confusion with her and Elayne/Egwene who would be the 'strongest Aes Sedai in 1000 years' and are both stronger than Cadsuane.

As far as Mat goes... you're on ACOS? hmmm. Um, certain women get along with him fine. We just don't have many of their PoV's to speak of. The others see what they want to see, and Mat's attitude toward them doesn't help most of the time.
